Box art

"King of the Huns"
That works for me.

As for how to depict a God, they are doing it with the 11 icons. Those could have been on there somewhere, maybe.
It was more or less, just a passing thought. Beyond The Sword showed a very modern take on the Civ4 box art. That's all I was really thinking.

How would you depict a god ^^?

Silly box. People look really clean and shiny. David? What does that have to do with anything?

David has nothing to do with anything. He really shouldn't be on the box. A picture of some religious building would have sufficed instead. Or a picture of a different king (Pacal, for example).

Why is Anna Paquin fighting David the giant monster with Macho Man Randy Savage on their way to a Halloween party?, are there a few features you guys haven't told us about? (awesome features, at that).

To be noted, Boudicca is a fly girl indeed, got her nails done and her hair did...

Pretty much the only good thing about the cover is the V that frames the middle, imo. Quite stylish. Everything else (including the AI pictures) could use some extra artistry.

David has nothing to with anything? Are we talking about the same David? I'm having a hard time trying to think of a ruler that would fill that cover art better than him, even considering he isn't in the game.

But see, it's the statue of David (which represented liberty when Michelangelo made it), not King David himself. The biggest problem, as you pointed out, is that David is not in the game. So what's he doing on the cover?

If anything, this is a sign Firaxis needs to add the Hebrews to their game when theme (and constant fan requests) call for it.

I guess you mean something like...that you could place Conan the Barbarian right in the middle and it would style wise still work...

Personally I like it :).

I like it a lot as well. Simple enough and not too "busy" with too many small details. :)

There's something in the V... looks like a map or something...

Not sure if thay have changed it in the final art, but this close-up reveals it is (unfortunately) just wear and cracks in the marble.

While what the statue used to represent when Michelangelo conceived it is surely subject of debate, nowadays it is one of the easiest and most apprehensible way to represent King David. I mean, they could draw a random guy, but no one would relate him to David. And since it's his statue and not a graphic art of him, it's not a big deal if he's not in the game (now if Boudica and Attila wasn't in, then it'd be odd, indeed). Also, the statue is probably replacing the Rockefeller's Atlas in the main menu background, so it's not like it's just showing up in the box and we'll never see it again.

Now I completely agree with you. Kingdom of Israel was one of my guesses before Jerusalem showed up as a CS. I really can't see why they are not going to include them.

I have to say, I actually like it. It's clean (apart from the cracks) and understated. Makes a change from all the over-the-top cover arts you see today. You'll notice it through simplicity (think of Skyrim's Box art- simple and elegant).

Plus it does feel right with the theme CiV seems to be going for.

Lets just hope the expansion itself isn't so bland (I really would like some graphical distinction between different races).
