Boycott Bee!

For seconders, it was filmed there, but a lot of people involved were from Australia. And no, the term I'm thinking of wasn't a racial one. It was a sexual term.

Lol you're going to have to be specific

I just find it endlessly funny that you're all more squeamish about the word than, like, my wife

I'm not surprised your wife has super-human tolerances

As an aside, Barr's excuse "I didn't know she was black!" is actually an acceptable excuse if you decide to believe her (which I predict will fall entirely along partisan lines). It's an unacceptable insult only in a certain set of contexts, I think

As for "After doing investigative tour of Peurto Rico, Bee finally gets headline for using bad words", I guess I don't approve. But it's not an important issue.

The only thing that's leaping to mind that would be more offensive down there is "fanny", but that can't be it because that's not really a sexual term from the American point of view.

But seriously, what's with the US horror reactions toward vulgar words ?

From what I've seen, most ordinary people hearing stuff like this would frown/think it's not really called for. Someone blowing up over it is relatively uncommon, but the common stuff doesn't make the news.

No, but she is also not publicly dismantling our democracy.
God, could you be any more melodramatic? How about a little actual proof of this without using the vague 'by her influence over her father'? As much as I dislike the Trump family, that claim is just plain delusional.

She has no influence on her father. Surely none that she seems to be exercising, though it's also likely she actually likes what he is doing and agrees with his actions.

However she does have influence over herself. She has no business in any affairs of government. She should not be conducting state affairs AT ALL, but has the freaking gall to go places as an official representative of the United States.

It is quite destructive to our democracy to have utterly unqualified people running around playing diplomat, solely because they are the president's children. It makes us look like a banana republic, and it destroys international faith that our institutions and affairs are actually free and democratic.

We're not supposed to have hereditary nobility. The whole idea is anathema to our constitution and everything this country's founders fought against. You're offended by a word? Well, I'm offended by a person who is so freaking entitled she doesn't think twice about making a mockery of our entire system of government and its underpinnings that supposedly make it so great.

I'm sorry you find my disgust for people who are cheapening our country and what it stands for to be melodramatic.

Erm.... "First Lady"?

I take it you didn't actually read that link then?

Bugger, bum, fanny, napkin, Randy and root all could have fit the scenario depending on how the word was used and the sensitivity of the person hearing it.

If referring to his second paragraph, about Australians being hard to offend, that is certainly a generalization and doesn't define everyone.

Actually, just being a participant in the introduction of naked nepotism into the executive branch of government does qualify as "publicly dismantling our democracy."

Well from what Valka said it would have to be a "sexual term" from a North American point of view, which I don't think any of those are (although I'm surprised bugger isn't to be honest).

Also I can't believe Australians don't use "bugger" in the same way because I'm sure I've heard it. I didn't even think Americans said it at all. And I really can't imagine anyone other than a nun blushing at "bum".

It’s a sign of the time. It shows how politics have become more openly vulgar. I suppose people can trace this to Trump but liberals are pulling themselves into it too.

On another note, it reminds me of when, I think it was the Onion used the same word to refer to a black child actress and many people said it was racist, and I’m not talking about ape.

Fully half the stories on Breitbarf's page are coverage of various "respected conservatives" expressing their shocked outrage. There is no question that in the conservative universe nothing else is happening other than this "unwarranted attack" on she who is neither that warm nor that deep.

Gee, to think I was accusing you of being melodramatic. Well done. The first family has participated in official events in previous administrations. We didn't elect Hillary when Bill was president. I really don't see the difference, except that you don't like her father.
Vent your angst against him.

Yeah but, she was the First Lady. Not the adult kid from some previous marriage.

I don't really see that much difference. She wasn't on the ballot. The President can take the advice of those he chooses. I'm actually more upset about Jared.

ah yes, Ivanka is dismantling democracy - and when Bill put Hillary in charge of health care, that was democracy in action

Jared's gonna bring peace to the world yay :)

As usual, you are making a false equivalence. Since I assume you are doing it on purpose I won't bother explaining it to you. Just wanted you to know that it isn't working.

What major policy decisions has Ivanka proclaimed? Representing the US at the Olympics doesn't seem to have dismantled Democracy.
