Bribes

I got a bribe from the Rebel faction playing as the Julii. They offered 15000 denarii for a ceasefire and trade rights. Including Map info from them. After getting over my initial shock at being asked this, I accepted and the Rebels never bothered me the rest of the game. Trade flourished despite presences of rebel armies on the roads and rebel navies on my shipping lanes.

Has this ever happened before?

You got a ceasefire from the Rebels? :dubious: How did they get a diplomat, and I thought you HAD to be at war with them at all times...?

Nah, Casse starts out at peace with the rebels/Eleutheroi in the EB campaign. It's not a hard-coded thing. Remember that the rebels are a faction just like any other, and apparently if you press them hard enough they will offer peace.

Ah, right. I've never played EB so I've never encountered this before. It's never happened on Vanilla. Can it happen on Vanilla?

I think so. Never seen it myself, though.

I was on Vanilla when it happened. Been playing this since it came out and this was the first time they offered this much less speak to me.

Heh, it took me a few turns to figure out the Elutheroi weren't another Greek faction ( I saw them first in N. Italy, and assumed them to be the Etruscans :rotfl: )

Then they would be the Etruscans, they represent every other group that doesn't have a faction.

The Pope is Catholic, in case you didn't know.

The rebels in N. Italy were the ONLY rebels I could see at the time, which led to my conclusion.

:confused::crazyeye::confused:

Um, duh? There is no pope in Rome when you start... if at all during RTW. Christianity hasn't even been founded (thankfully).

I was saying the Elutheroi represent all the other peoples and groups who don't have their own faction, which includes the Etruscans.

Not at start date. :) Cheezy was commenting that you were informing him of something mind-bogglingly obvious, of which he was already aware by the time of your post.
