Hey!

First: This ModMod is great I just discovered it recently and has loads of great features. Especially the "explore lairs" feature is something I wished for a long time.

Now to the problem: I've chosen a huge pangaea map and have found many neibours early on. I play the Mazatl. I had some good company from the beginning on - Arendel and her elves and Dannmos were both on the good side with me, Hannah and Sandalphon being neutral.

Within very short time Hannah became the most evil being around and Sandalphon even adopted AV after the dumb Balseraph researched it. They made Hyborem appear, too.

My good friends decidet to go neutral so I'm the only one with good manners left. The AV spread all over the damn globe. Look at the Scoreboard - this world is doomed.

The AI-Players seem to prefer evil deeds over good ones, wich reflects in the falldown of all players Alignments. Is this intendet?

Cheers,
WarChicken

EDIT: That was at about turn 225

The problem is who is in your game. Faeryl wants CoE. Hannah loves OO. The Sheaim are hardcoded to go for AV and the Bals seem to like it too. You and Auric are both agnostic, the Dural aren't very religous, and the Ljos have to beeline FoL. There's no one around to found the good religions and spread their influence to counter the evil. With evil left unopposed is it really so surprising that the world slips into darkness?

Even without Broader Alignments enabled, this situation would have the entire world either Neutral or Evil unfortunately. Not sure how many things there are in BA which work nicely to move your alignment up toward being Good either, but I suppose the AI could go for some weighting based on their LeaderheadInfos to favor actions which modify their alignments.

But everything moves one's alignment down, there's no reliable way I know of to make AV, StW, conquest, undercouncil Hyborem to go good with lots of effort. Not that I would go good with Hyborem.

But lets see. Razing cities = evil, yeah I can see why you'd think genocide is evil. The problem is ai does not have a f***ing clue where to build its cities. Feasting = evil, Calabim are permanently stuck at -500 even with order. Caging slaves = evil, any decently expanding Balseraph leader is stuck at -500.

Further, religion is too much of a factor here. But that's just my opinion.

i started out as neutral 50 with the chislev and when i adopted order i got an automatic 500 good points that never go down. i even have conquest and military state active along with dungeons and ive destroyed cities but my good points are still 500. they need to have more negative points and more positive points effects for things because once you get the +/- 500 you rarely seem to move in an direction.

Maybe it only shows +/- 500, yet the values are really much much higher/lower?

The problem I am having: How to adjust my alignment significantly towards good without touching religion and civics. StW + Slavery + AV civs/leaders are paragons of virtue, are they not?

Yep, of cause in my game is quite predefined what the world will go to if I don't intervene.
By now I alredy have wiped out the Balseraphs and the AV holy city. The Sheanim are next :)

But it is strange to see Good civs drift rather fast from good to evil... This broad alignment system seems to be really fun in a multiplayer game, but since the AI players seem to give a crap of what their actions provoke it doesn't seem to make that much sense in a singleplayer session...

Sacfrafice the weak is a big cause of it. By time I meet Hannah, she's evil from it.

Oh, yes your right. It's about a minus 12 to alignment, and the AI rairly chances from it.

Well at least it understands not to change religions when it has a religious hero. Hannah was looking at me pretty angry when I suggested she adopt av when she had Sphener. But immediately after Rosier (my vampire knight) pounded Sphener to the kingdom come, she happily converted.

I find that Broader Alignments generally seems more likely to shift the world to evil than good.

I think that AIs turn aligment frequently because they always make a state religion which belongs the opposite aligment.

Can you imagine that Bannor will make AV the state religion or Calabim follow The Order just because a new city which is maybe only 1 population is spreaded the religion randomly, so that the state religion will only give 1 people 1 happy?

I think it should be much harder(or forbidden) to auto spread a evil religion to a good city, and more failed chance of missionaries. And AIs which have no religion wouldn't follow a opposite religion until half of the population belive it.

Also i have an idea about the popularity rating of religions. When a religion is spreaded to a city, only a few people belive it.And as time passing, more(or less,if there is another more popular religion) poeple will belive it.If the country and the religion are same aligment, the popularity rating increases quickly;if not,it increases slowly. The buildings of religions also effect the increasing speed. If there are more than 1 religions in a city, the most popular religion will get rid of the others finally.

Hey, I'd just like to point out that this is a DARK fantasy mod. No tranquil world of all good/neutral people happening anytime soon =D

I'm not sure how much affects the alignment in this mod since I havn't played it, but I think that they arn't done with this component yet. There are a lot of things that can potentially affect your alignment. Maybe more events should be able to make you more good, etc.

Maybe you can use this thread to come up with various fine-tunings and additional alignment modifiers?

Maybe "Fend for Themselves" could be made a little less popular by including a Happiness penalty as well as a health penalty.

Just pointing out, even IF you did have all good/neutral (highly unlikely), they don't all get along :P

Grigori getting along with Bannor? Give me a break! Ljosalfar with Lanun (and their evil cutting down of trees to make ships)? I don't think so.

That's why I love FfH, even the good guys don't get along

True, but the good guys would get along a lot better than if the world was all evil/neutral, or something like that =D

Hey how do I move from good to neutral.

I got the good/evil thing down pat, but could somebody explain how to get into "second gear", I want my druids dammit.
