[BtS]40 civs-allows colonies AND 34 civs

Well I have 3.17 and when I install the 40 civ .dll I can't get any pre-made map/scenario to work. Not even say, 18 civs on a 18 civ world map, it just crashes to the desktop with a generic report this error to microsoft. However all random maps work with any number of civs, even 40.

Any ideas why this is? Possible solutions?

You need to edit the map file (using notepad works) and create entries for 40 civs.

Open up the file and scroll down to where it says:

BeginPlayer
...
EndPlayer

And right below the lat line saying EndPLayer put:

BeginPlayer
LeaderType=NONE
CivType=NONE
Team=18
RandomStartLocation=true
EndPlayer
BeginPlayer
LeaderType=NONE
CivType=NONE
Team=19
RandomStartLocation=true

Should work now.

i cant figure out where to put this... i know noob right?

I had the same problem - look a few pages back...

I know that Lt Bob hasn't had the time to keep on top of this... are there plain old 34+ mods being put out by themselves with the new patch?

I know that there are some pretty big mods out there with all kinds of other updates (that take up a lot of space) and I might check them out, but honestly - all i want is to play max civs on my tiny map with no other mods (usually).

im having trouble combining this with civ gold. ive tried just dumping it into the civ gold assets folder, but that doesnt seem to work, and i cant think of anything else short of completely editing the civ gold programing. does anyone have any ideas?

I'm trying to increase the amount of civs playable here from 40 to 54, so I can have an Earth Map for the Next Level Mod. How can I do this?

Give me a couple days to dust off my coding and I'll see if I can put together a new version of the mod.

Lt. Bob

Ok guys, when "by the book" hours seem like days, so here's the new version of my mod created for V3.19:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8ZOVBA6F

I used megaupload because rapidshare is being stinky and only allowing 10 downloads now w/o an account. If this link doesn't work, throw me some ideas on other filehosting services and I'll put it up there.

I updated my optional global warming changes to incorporate the 3.19 global warming defense changes (forests, jungles, and such decrease the odds) but I haven't done any in depth testing of the system.

Let me know if there's any problems with anything and give some thanks to Liambane for having the guts to PM me. I didn't even know there was a new version of the game until I got the e-mail notification from him asking for a new version.

Enjoy,

Lt. Bob

Thanks Bob!

download worked fine here - will load the mod up to test it tomorrow

edit---
did some quick checking and it appears to work (though I have not tested the colony features).

Also bob, I have added a link to this thread in my map page along with putting a link to this page in my map's download file (I hope you don't mind).

I have also made a shortcut link (added to my download file) that will open up this mod via a shortcut when the mod is placed in the default location (at least I think it is correct location - anyone can feel free to pm me if it is incorrect).

Thanks again for updating the mod! Also check out my tiny rad earth map when you get a chance.

Is there a working dll for BTS 3.17 patch. All 18+ mods what I have tried keep crashing.

Do you use Vista and/or Civ4 Complete Edition? I do and it's been absolute hell trying to use more than 18 civs. Just keep searching and eventually you'll find one which works.

Do I have to pay to get the regular download? I know this is a dumb question, but still.
