[BtS]40 civs-allows colonies AND 34 civs

Hey people, I think this is an amazing mod and I really want to use it but for some reason, whenever I go to load the mod it crashes on the Init Engine part of the loading screen

AI BOMBERS WON'T BOMB!

Okay... there's a problem that in Solver's 0.19 patch that has transfered itself into this patch as well... there's a bit of a solution written in this thread but it's only something that can be fixed by recompiling the DLL.

In a nutshell, AI fighters and bombers will NOT fly missions of any kind if you have a fighter in-range on an intercept mission... essentially grounding any and all AI air missions so long as a single fighter of yours is on intercept!

I have run several tests, and this is indeed the case, occurs in Solvers' 0.19, Lt.Bob's v5.0 and any DLL based on either.

You're welcome! It throws a lot of people. ;)

It's a good mod though overall, and all but one of the 30+ players involved in my pitboss game has been able to get it running without much trouble.

Post #1 says the latest v. is 4.1 (instead of v.5.0).
It may say that in the first sentence, but v5.0 is clearly listed in the exact same post a bit further down.

hi!

is there a version of this mod for 3.17 without solver patch? i don't want to install solver patch yet cos it seems it has many bugs still.

thanks!

hi, im using a game core, Wolfshanze BtS Game Core that uses your Nuclear Fallout instead of desertification in Global Warming feature. (this feature rocks btw)

i've noticed something odd. im currently playing a very late game with global warming kicking in every turn (even with the XML prob setting to "101").

The odd thing is Automated workers dont seem to want to clean up fallout. Maybe fallout has such a low priority compared to an unworked plot? I have a ton of worker around, but I have yet to see one scrub fallout. (the scrub feature works, I can make a worker scrub manually).

Anyone else notice this?

Well, regular 3.17 has far more bugs than Solver's patch, so I don't really see a good reason to support regular 3.17 in this mod. You're correct, though, that Solver's patch still has some bugs left, and it also introduced one new bug (regarding bombardment) and handled two other changes suboptimally (threat assessment before sending ships away, and the collateral damage formula). But these are fixed in Dresden's 0.19.1 update, so imho the better course of action would be to update the 40civ mod to v0.19.1 of the unofficial patch. Or to v0.37 of the Better BtS AI mod, which includes Solver's patch and Dresden's update *and* improves the AI, but this is still a bit experimental, so may not be for everyone.

Thanks for the info Psy, I've been hesitating about installing solver's patch cos it seems the project was abandoned... haven't see any changes in the thread since ages :(

but, i think i'll give a try to dresden's upgrade.

cheers!

So... how do we apply the unofficial patch 0.19.1 (which fixes the ai bomber issue) to this MOD?

ps - and as much as i LOVE this mod (it has allowed me to enjoy my tiny high density civ maps) can anyone recommend a similar 40+ mod (with colonies feature) that is updated more often to the unofficial patches?

Sounds like you'd be up for the Wolfshanze Mod (link in sig-line below).

It's a Civ-flavor-mod, combined with some new units in the biggest gap Firaxis left in the game... the Industrial Age... and a few new civs (Austria, Poland & Vietnam).

First, the "flavor mod" aspect makes each and every civ look and feel completely unique... Aztec cities look Aztec... Chinese cities look Chinese... Russian cities look... well... Russian. Same for the units... Germans look German, Japanese look Japanese, etc, etc... the uniforms and equipment are specific to each nation (Germans will fly Messerschmidt fighters, Americans will fly P-38 Lightnings, etc, etc). This "flavor" aspect is covered from the dawn of civilization in 4000 BC right up to the very end of the game in modern times.

As for the Industrial Age enhancements, the Wolfshanze Mod adds units missing from that age... especially coal-fired navies, ocean-going ironclads, pre-dreadnoughts and dreadnoughts, WWI units such as early tanks and biplanes.

Gameplay-wise, the game plays the same as it always has... you can still play from 4,000 BC to modern times just like always... tech progression is the same, old strategies still work the same, you just get better looking units, better looking cities, more units to play with in the industrial age, and better naval options.

Here's a video teaser of what you get... if you see it in the movie clip below, you get the equivalent of it in the Wolfshanze Mod... link for the mod is in my sig-line.

Addendum: Yesterday I merged the 40Civs mod with "Better BtS AI v0.41" (which includes the Unofficial Patch v0.21 by Dresden). If someone's interested in the result, I can upload it on rapidshare. Note: I haven't tested any features, I won't have the time to do any support, and the Better BtS AI is still a bit experimental. You have been warned. :) But if there's any interest in the dll then I can certainly provide it, no need for others to duplicate the work I already did.

Two people have asked me for the merged dll, so here is te link:

http://rapidshare.com/files/164903579/40CivsPlusBetterAI041.zip.html

It's only good for 10 downloads, so please only download it if you really want to play it. Since only two people requested the file during the last 5 weeks, chances are that either the 40Civs mod or the unofficial patch or the BetterAI mod get updated before the downloads run out.

I am having the exact same problem. I went to load the mod, and it crashed on me. I think I have bts 3.13 with Bruhic's patch on top. I just downloaded the latest version of 40civs which is giving me the crash.

All I want to be able to do is to play a "Custom Game" and add as many civs (up to 40) as I feel compelled to play in a game with, while simply using the standard old random map scripts the game original came with. (I tend to really enjoy huge "big & small" maps.) Is this possible, and if so how?

Thanks in advance!

If you're still on 3.13, then the latest version of the 40Civs mod (v5.0) won't work for you, since it's built for 3.17. Download v4.0f (linked from first post).
