[BtS] Amra's Modpack v3 for Beyond the Sword

Ok I got the game to work (yay!)
However, there is just one problem.
When I go to custom game, Im pretty sure it might be the mod components Rev Mod or something, but theres always a point when upon meeting a civ, the screen turns darker nad hte games becomes extremely sluggish. Is anyone else having this problem?



Ok I found out why it turns dark, it's because a new civilization has been formed. However, I still don't know how to fix it :/
 
has anyone noticed that the mech units from next war dont show up on the WBS, and also they have problems moving in the game? or is it just me? also they appear HUGE when selected over another unit
how do i fix this?
 
Could someone make an unofficial update that allows the mod to be played with 3.17? I really, really, REALLY want to play Advanced with all the features. Whoever does is an angel.
 
Okay, I found a way to make the game boot. Replace the dll in Advanced with the Revolution Mod dll. I can start a game, but Revolution mod and DCM are inactive :cry:. Even in custom game turning on these features, they do not show up.

If this could be fixed, or a reason be provided (my version is Amra Advanced, 3.11, with the smaller patch as well, BtS 3.17), it would be greatly appreciated.

first of all I hope your son is getting well!

I really appreciate your mod, it's been some days since I downloaded it and I have not been playng anything else since then..anyway I got a problem as the game sometimes suddendly CTD without reasons (I never had graphics or memory failures so far, both the game and the mod worked fine until now..), so I red your advice in the readme file to post any saved game having such problems, so that's what I'm doing now...I hope to hear again from you here in the forum as you may have noticed we are all waiting for your comeback!

best ive been able to do with this so far is i can get the mod to load and start a custom game however the in game interface is missing all the buttons. the game still works by using the keyboard shortcuts but it is a pain. there may be other things missing from it as im not sure what all new Amra added to it. i had to remove his custom GamecoreDLL file and replace it with the GamecoreDLL from solvers patch and also add the new no espionage option to the GameOptionsInfo file. but like i said the game interface is missing all the buttons and i have no idea what all he did for his custom interface so maybe someone else can figure that part out.
 
Here is what my python.err log says from the dump of my most recent random CTD. This happens in every game with Amra's advanced for me. It's totally random, but if I have a save file from a few turns away and reload, it happens at the same turn again over and over again. I have probed many things in my hackish way, but find that it is somehow linked to new civs popping up, either via revolutions or barbarians settling down. But I've had games where I get to the modern era no problem, and games where I get stuck in the ancient age.

I don't have a clue now, and if anyone can make sense of this error log, it might help.

I uninstalled BtS, reloaded it, repatched it and played this game.

Its really fun, can't wait for this to be put out for 3.17 though.
 
Any plans to patch this to 3.17?
 
To update to 3.17 and still be able to play Amra Advance you can do the following:
1- Before installing the patch go to Beyond The Sword folder and rename the Civ4BeyondSword.exe file to any other name keeping the extension. I renamed it to Civ4BeyondSword313.exe.
2- Install the patch normally.
3- Whenever you like to play Amra Advanced start the game using Civ4BeyondSword313.exe rather than the new Civ4BeyondSword.exe that was installed by the patch.
4- You also can create a shortcut that starts the game and load Amra Advanced in one step. To do so just make a copy of the Beyond the Sword shortcut you have on your desktop (installed when you install BTS). Right click this copy and choose properties, In the dialog box you will get on Target tab the text box named target will have the following text or similar "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" (quotation marks included). Change this to "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword313.exe" mod=\Amra Advanced

I've tried this with both Amra Advanced and History in the Making which wasn't updated to work with BTS3.17 as well.

I wasn't replying your post in particular. I thought the information may be helpful for anyone who likes to continue playing Amra's mods after updating to 3.17.

Hopefully amra will be back when it is convenient for him and he will then update his mod. For the time being I am at least glad there is a way to keep playing the mod.
 
The only online game I am playing is this pitboss game, so I installed Civ on my room-mate's (never know the proper way to write that word) computer and patched that to 3.17 so I can just run in there and play my one turn a day (he doesn't mind so far) and then whenever I want to play a regular game of Civ I play Amra's on my computer which I have patched to 3.13.

The only drawback is I can't play regular MP games, but this mod is so fun I don't mind. I can't see myself getting bored with this for a while, but hopefully we can get a 3.17 version going.
 
FYI, I tried Kalimakhus' trick and it works great!

I had already installed the 3.17 patch, so I just had to go find a 3.13 no cd exe and use that, but it works!

BTW: I won the Earth scenario as Germany with 121k points on Monarch by space race just recently. I can't believe I actually spent 40 hours, but the Mod kept me going just enough to actually want to finish the game.

It was the first time in many years that I actually used Nuclear weapons. China got Hammered! Global warming set in right away, and it was kind of neat to know that I had a real reason for building the space ship for my people.

It's kind of sick and twisted sure, but if I hadn't done it, the war with China would have really bogged down.

The challenge was building up vassals by liberating cities to keep pace with the new cities I was taking so I didn't win by domination before the space ship landed on Alpha Centauri.

The last 50 turns or so took nearly 10 minutes each, just moving peaces around, liberating cities, taking cities...but it was a good problem to have.

I usually quit games that get anywhere deep into the Industrial age because they inevitably slow down. This time I stuck it out.

Further review: Running this mod on a Laptop with Vista...just make sure you either have autosave on or that you manually save every few turns or so. I have 2GB of ram, and using the MAF fix did get me into the modern age without MAFs, but by the time I was using jet fighters, MAFs became quite frequent.

I was playing on the Huge Earth map though, which I had modded, and plan to allow you all to use at some point, and no doubt that had allot to do with the MAF issues.

My video card had some problems too, but I think that had to do with not enough memory available for the video card.

Do any of you know how to ensure that a certain ammount of RAM is always available for the video card, and what that number should be?
