[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

1st: The fix for Madman won't replace Alex and the Polynesian flags, because all of your previous art files (including the previous versions for those) are in FPK, what now you gave in the fix are just the plain art files.

unpacked art takes precedence over FPKs, so that should not be an issue

As TheCapo said, you might need his xml changes too though

I can confirm that the version I downloaded has the correct gamefont files and has modular loading set on. I can launch it as far as the menu, and browsing through the civilopedia it looks like the gamefont files are working as they should.

Throwing a random idea out there: could the problems people are experiencing with missing files and such be related to the software they are using to decompress the archive?

That could be one reason for this. Most people say that everything works fine, and then a few are saying they are missing files or it doesn't work. So there has to be some type of reason for it. How could some people get the files and others not get the files?

EDIT: I want to get this resolved soon, because I don't want to move along with the wonders until I get it fixed. So basically what everyone who is having issues should do is look at their version of the mod and compare it to the list of files I posted. To anyone who is having issues with symbols please make sure that the gamefont files (they are in the Res/Fonts folder) are new and updated, or even present. If you open the gamefont and look at it you should see new BUG symbols, and new religion symbols. Compare it to stock BtS gamefont files if you are unsure about it.

The next thing I'm going to do is start looking into getting that Circus thing modified to become the Olympics (I'm actually surprised nobody did this previously), although I was considering making it the World Cup too, but the Olympics is probably better.

The mod looks fine to me.

The mod looks fine to me.

Awesome news! Now it is only Igor and EdgeCrusher left. What I need you two to do is go back to that post I made to Madman describing what folders should be present and what should be in them. Try your best to tell me what it looks like you are missing and I'll try to make a patch for you. BTW I suggest that all playtesters download the patch I sent to Madman if you haven't already, it has a couple new items in it, it isn't necessary but it makes the game better IMO.

Now on to some fun stuff. Time for adding some wonders. Well turns out this isn't actually a wonder but more of a game effect/feature since nobody can build it. First which Olympic Stadium do you like better:

As for what actually happens, you can read the information HERE. I will be using The_J's Hagenbeck Circus building as the Olympics. It is not buildable by any civilization, but will appear in a specific year and then "travel" around. The_J's starts in 1890 and moves every third turn, this one will begin in 1896 (or as close to that as possible, maybe 1890 or 1900) and move every four turns. I will obviously remove the free horse resource. I was thinking of adding a WLTK day, I could probably add more happiness or something. Thoughts?

Repeat after me: Leaderhead Personalities!!!

I decided to do female leaders only this time. :mischief:

First off is Lady Xoc. Since wikipedia didn't have much on her, I kind of used a bit of my imagination with this one, so I hope you don't mind - especially since she's an obscure leader anyways, as long as the personality is unique, right? :) Anyhow, I based her off Hatshepsut (powerful woman, eh), and adding aspects of Bismarck (I kind of got the feeling she must have been somewhat politically capable to get where she was), and Zara Yaqob (no idea why... actually... but I wrote myself to include ZY, and so it is...).

Second off is Jingu. I basically made her kind of aggressive (especially with Ekmek's LH, you know), basing her off Ragnar and "softening" Ragnar's aggressiveness with the slightly less aggressive Gilgamesh and Brennus. She could be interesting.

Third off is Amenarainas whateverthe@#$%youspellhernameas. I based her off Boadicea (woman-warrior against the Romans), but added aspects of Elizabeth (strong woman defending nation against big power), as well as Pacal (Nubians were rich and builders, were they not).

Hope they work. More coming soon, as always - because this isn't 'just for you, it's for me, too.

Anyhow...

I like the 2006 one, the 1936 one looks kind of plain.

Also, The Capo, even though I won't playtest the thing per se, I'll still be happy to load into it and see if there's any problems with it. However, it seems my laptop is getting really stuffed and running out of space (as in less than 1 GB left :mwaha:), and yours is a reasonably big mod, so I probably won't try to actually download it until maybe a week later after I clear out some of the crap in here.

Good stuff man. I'll put in Amanirenas' stuff and try to get that module pack out tonight if I can. And I'll try to get in the Olympic thing and see if it works.

The only thing I'm a bit iffy about is the fact that the Olympics will appear in the Civilopedia as a building, and it isn't really a building so much, or even a wonder (although I suppose it would make the most sense as being considered a wonder). I suppose it doesn't erally matter actually, but it is still a consideration.

For what it is worth, I like the first one (2006) better :)

:woohoo:

More leaders. I realized that since I already made 3 female leaderhead personalities, I should finish up with them all anyhow.

Alright, so that just leaves Cartimandua and Slasasmdfiasnfidssina left.

First is Cartimandua. I based her off Hatshepsut (again, woman in power thing), and added aspects of QSH and Bismarck (from the wikipedia article I was getting the feeling that she was pretty politically competent and was trying to get the best out of every situation she could land her hands on).

Second is Salasiamsasina. I based her off Ashoka (she seemed pretty peaceful and diplomatic from the wikipedia article, if I remember correctly), and added aspects of Lincoln (same reason somewhat), as well as Ragnar (Polynesian sailing).

Tha's all the female leaders on that list you gave me, I think.

And for me... I'm storing them up for future use :D

Could making it a project be a good option? I like the 2006 one too btw, especially if the Olympic symbol could be put on the white somehow.

Thanks cybrxkhan, but Cartimandua is out of the mod for now. I might add her before I put it up, but it doesn't look like it right now.

As for the Olympic symbol; that's a pretty good idea. I'l look into that. Should I put one on each side, or just one at the bottom of the white part? It can't be a project because there wouldn't be a building, and I want a building, plus it doesn't matter much if it is a project. Nobody has to build it, it just pops up and moves around.

Finally, I just attempted to upload the module pack, and with 28 seconds left my damn internet crapped out on me. Unbelievable. So I suppose I could try it again now, but it takes like an hour so its a little annoying.

Also, cybrxkhan, what are you using for the Bamyan statue model?

Ok, so i think i got it to work.

I set the Modular Loading on, and that seems to have corrected the font icon issues. Which makes sense, the font file was correct, but without the loaded religions, everything was using a different icon.

Going to try and play a game today.

now you mentioned a patch?

In regards to the Olympic stadium, I like the Newer one, but could it be set show as the older one in say 1890 to 1950, and from 1950 on the newer one?

And for me... I'm storing them up for future use :D

I'll remember that. :mwaha:

Thanks cybrxkhan, but Cartimandua is out of the mod for now. I might add her before I put it up, but it doesn't look like it right now.

...

No more Cartimandua... @#$%, what a waste... Oh well. Guess you could use her personality for another female resistance-leader. :ar15:

As for the Bamyan Statue, unfortunately there (as you may have seen already) no good model of the real thing, so I'm using a normal-er looking Buddha statue as placeholder art. I got it here:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=11230

However, I have requested for the Bamyan Buddha Statues in the graphics request thread. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if anyone will take it.

Well, in my mod I already have Petra, but The Capo still has some room to maneuver. The effect could easily be used on any religious-themed wonder, though I think The Capo seems to like the idea of having the Bamyan Buddha Statues.

A few things to report:

First, everyone who got a Module Pack for testing last night should check and make sure all of the files are there. Madman has reported that he is missing the Teutonic Order module. Anyone else have anything similar to report?

Second, I tried merging in the Olympic games, it showed up in the "National Wonders" section of the civilopedia, which I suppose is fine. But there were a bunch of python pop ups and error messages, so I obviously didn't do a good job merging it. I'll try to get that and Leo's in today so I can test it out.

As for Cartimandua; yeah it sucks, but the model didn't turn out good, so I dropped it for now.

As for the Buddha Statues; I could always use Petra, or I could retexture Abu Simbel, or I could retexture the Buddha statue. There are different things I can do here, so I'm not too worried about it right now.

It isn't really a patch, it was the thing I made for Madman to get his to work. But since mine was updated I included the two updates I made (Polynesia has new colors, and the new Alexander is in). So it isn't really necessary to have, but if you want it it should be a few posts back on the page before this.

EDIT: As for retexturing the Olympic stadium to have the rings on the white parts - can't do it, they are small parts it isn't one big texture, so it would look strange. It's fine though, it isn't a big deal.

I had a problem where Nasser introduced himself as Vortilex.
A different problem was when in diplomacy, the map would pixilate until the end of the diplomacy, when it would return to normal.
Now something a tad more serious: when Scipio asked me to declare war on Nasser, I agreed and the game froze entirely for a second, but then the music (both Scipio's diplomacy music and the background game music) started playing, but I couldn't do anything.
When I first tried to play against all the new leaders, it also froze entirely, except for the opening music (btw, is that from the movie 2012?)
Both times, when I opened the task manager, it said Civ was running, but there was an error message that when I tried to ignore (pressing the ignore button) just opened up the Civ game (which now was a transparent window) and I couldn't do anything.
I was playing as Adenauer, btw.

Does anyone know what happened?

Nasser calls himself Vortilex because Madman sometimes mixes up his tags, and I was putting them in so fast I didn't bother to look. While you playtest write that stuff down.

As far as the issues you are experiencing; I'm not really sure what is causing that. I haven't had those issues (obviously, if I did I wouldn't have sent it out). Just try it again and again and if it keeps happening there is certainly a problem right now. Or you can try removing the DLL, that could help.

Guilty. When I'm making diplotext the tags sometimes escape me.

Alright, let's do the Leaderhead Personalities dance.

First off is Abu Bakr. I based him off Huayna Capac (religion, military expansion) and added aspects of Augustus Caesar (Abu Bakr was the one who really started things rolling with the Islamic Empire, just like how Augustus really started things rolling with the Roman Empire (as opposed to the Republic)) as well as Charlemagne (religion and military and some learning thrown in).

Second off is Nasser. I based him off Mao (even though both have mixed legacies, they did bring their nations/culture/group/whatever up and gave their people a sense of pride again), and added aspects of Sitting Bull (for some reason I thought he'd fit in...) as well as Bismarck (er...).

Third is Maurits van Nassau. I based him off Boadicea (he fought a good rebellion against Spain), and added aspects of Mansa Musa and Joao (ka-ching!, and the Dutch exploring thingy).

Well, that's that, then.
