[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

I did some, but some of yours is better. I might use some.

Well, it seems I screwed something up with shadering Cleomenes. :(

So I'll have to add that to the "to-do" list along with BUG. It could be an easy fix, it might be a more difficult fix, I am not sure. I'll have to go back to the drawing board, but since I can't work on it tonight (or possibly tomorrow) it might delay the release of the playtest a few days. Ripple01 has offered to help me out with merging BUG, so that is a positive boon. Anyway I'm about to be off to drink (yay!), so I'll either return with drunken posts or talk to everyone about this stuff tomorrow.

I'm pretty excited about the playtest, the mod is starting to look really polished and I only have around three LHs to make now and one to update (Ogedei is only getting a hat added to him), although that will be after this next playtest.

Any new personalities would be appreciated, I haven't had an opportunity to test out the new ones but that is what the playtest is for after all.

^I'll see if I can get some up real soon, about 3 again - as in less than an hour.

It isn't a dialect of German, it is old German to be precise. So it is probably closer to Frankish than to Austrian.

That's interesting to know. I guess I'll still use that for Austria, even though that's technically wrong, since I'm lazy. :crazyeye:

Alright, I got 5 in 1 this time.

First off is Canute. I think I used Augustus as a base (combination of military capability as well as political finese), as well as added parts of Joao (expansion, exploration, trade, the Vikings did that), and Mansa Musa (trade, mostly).

Second is Constantine. I used Saladin as a base (religious leaders who attempted to restore some kind of order or balance in their realms), Charlemagne (both are important figures to early Christianity), and Huayna Capac (he solidified the Incan Empire, I think similar enough in a way to Constantine; I also thought the Inca's expansionism - rather, expansionism and/or military focus per se, was still evident somewhat in the Late Roman Empire, especially in the East as they fought the Persians).

Third is Kamehameha. I used Washington as a base (Kamehameha is kind of like a father of the Hawaiian nation, and he also advocated some fairly progressive ideas), Ragnar (Polynesians sail on ships across oceans, and so do the Vikings), and Lincoln (again on those progressive ideas - if I remember correctly, some of these included a kind of equality (especially under law) (which was interesting considering that Hawaii had a caste system similar to that of India).

Fourth is Marcus Aurelius (I will be using his as Trajan in my mod, as I feel the time period of the Empire they represent is similar enough). I used Catherine as a base. Marcus Aurelius was very cultured and philosophical, but also still militaristic in the good old Roman sense. I then added aspects of Ramses II (the industrious building of the Egyptians, but also Ramses was a military man, even though he was not necessarily the greatest one), as well as Suleiman (who ruled an Empire at its height as well, with culture flourishing).

Fifth and not the least is Pachacuti. Here I have my original leaderhead personality I made a while back, so I don't know who exactly I combined. What I do know is that apparently this guy is pretty aggressive, going as so far as to declare war on people he has decent relationships with. He is not to be trusted. :mwaha: (Anyhow, I thought after that this could fit well with the Incan's expansionism)

---

That's all, and I hope you find them useful.

Also, I just wanted to add, if I didn't before - if any of these personalities proves to be "interesting" or a bit "unusual", regardless of whether in a positive or negative way, please tell me what the heck they're doing. :)

Enjoy, as always, and hope your testing is going well. Mine's going pretty nicely too. :)

Hey, The_Capo, would you mind if I saw your Hunnic city list?

I can't seem to figure out any Hunnic settlements that I can use, even though I only need about 5-7.

Thanks a lot man, good stuff. :goodjob:

Sure thing man. I am not sure if this is going to be the final set or not, and I don't remember where I got it (it was from Cool32a's thread, I think EC may have posted it but I don't remember):

Code:

				<City>TXT_KEY_CITY_NAME_VELIKO_TARNOVO</City>
				<City>TXT_KEY_CITY_NAME_GREAT_BULGAR</City>
			</Cities>

I hope that's helpful.

Thanks. I may want to note that a few of those settlements are Bulgar settlements, as opposed to Hunnic locations (Bulgars came a few centuries after the Huns...), but who cares. Actually, a number of them aren't Hunnic so far as I know... But then again, they didn't live in cities, so that's justified. :)

The reason I need them is because I'm making preparations for the minor spawning civs in my mod, so I needed a couple city names. :goodjob:

Anyhow, I'll try to post some more new LH personalities, as well as a new version of the Trung Sisters.

Alright, I got a few new leader personalities again. This time, however, I attempted making completely unique personalities for two of them (i.e. I chose the values myself, instead of relying on an existing leader). I haven't tested these two (Trung Sisters and Ho Chi Minh), but I hope they amount to something.

Anyhow, the leaders:

1. Philip II: I used Ragnar as a base. The Spanish Armada, the Viking fleets, I made a connection there. I then added aspects of Huayna Capac (expansionist empire, wealth, etc.), as well as Darius (wealth, expansionist empire).

2. Cixi: I had to consider her a bit, since there is a bit of controversy surrounding exactly what she really was and her legacy. I decided to go with the old-school view of her being a reactionary conservative with good helpings of isolationism, since that would be more interesting to play with. So, thusly, I used Tokugawa as a base (isolationism, etc.), and added aspects of Isabella (I thought her religious fanaticism was similar enough to Cixi's reactionary attitude), and Sitting Bull (China getting dogpiled by the European powers at this time, so I felt Sitting Bull's protectiveness could relate).

And for the leaders whom I made entirely new personalities (note that I didn't test these yet, so I don't know how they turn out... so if something really really interesting :mischief: happens, feel free to tell me):

3. Trung Sisters: I intended to make them rather laid-back and indifferent when it comes to most things - i.e. for example they won't mind it too much if you refuse demands. However, once you declare war on them, then they will lash out against you like heck (they have a pretty high iBuildUnitProb (40), for example).

4. Ho Chi Minh: I think he's a bit similar to the Trung Sisters, but he's a bit more cautious when it comes to war, and he can get angrier if you refuse demands.

Hope they work. And, just to reiterate, I haven't tested against the personalities for the Trung Sisters and Ho Chi Minh, so please tell me if you see interesting results. :goodjob:

EDIT: I've included David too, from WoL. I'm not sure what leaders I combined to make him, but I know I combined some leaders.

I'll check these out, man I had a crucial hangover yesterday.

I'm going to try and do a bunch of stuff for the mod, including my first attempt at getting BUG installed and to fix Cleomenes. I screwed him up while attempting to shader him, so we'll see what happens.

As far as the city-list goes, I'm not too sure about it either, those are mostly cities that were within the Hunnic Empire or were cities that were vassals/tributary states of the Huns.

What are you thinking for a new Barbarian flag, Capo?

I honestly have no idea, I have a bunch of random flag decals (but no buttons) on my computer, I could look through that and see if I find anything useful.

Uncoincidentally but funnily enough, looking up wikipedia, I found out that a good number of those cities were attacked, razed, burnt to the ground, and its inhabitants massacred by the Huns.

Anyhow, have fun with those leaderhead personalities. I'll see if I can get some more up tonight, too.

This isn't a huge change from the Yu LH, nor was I able to get the hat to look exactly like in the picture, but I think it is a pretty good likeness of Ogedei Khan and should suffice. Thoughts?

I probably WILL NOT be uploading this to the DB because I didn't make the LH. All I did was reskin the clothing and make the hat.

Pretty nice. My only suggestion is to somehow make the eybrows smaller, if that is possible, but otherwise pretty nice. :goodjob:

I think you should upload it anyways, even if it's just a reskin - all you need to do is give the proper credit, and no one will mind, really.

That's awesome, Capo. Could you share the altered files with me? (I believe it was my idea in the first place...:mischief:)

EDIT: If you do upload, I don't think MO will say anything. cfkane didn't mind me uploading Afonso Henriques.

I quite like him. I liked the original Yu, but the hat somehow does make this much more distinctive-looking. Assuming that you do not collaborate with the original artist to release him, I may certainly steal him from your mod when it is released.

I didn't want to go too far on the eyebrows, because that picture appears to be pretty stylized, but I did make them smaller and I added the mole. I think its pretty good now, I'll up load it when I get some good screen shots and make a button.
