Bts "DUNE WARS" {Development Thread}

i think it doesnt work...it wont place desert instead of water, just creates a normal map - but only based on grass, no plains or tundra or snow...

strange, it works for me..
I've extracted the zip file, placed it into Civ4/PublicMaps and tested settings:

-> Play Now -> Dune -> Rocky, High, Standard -> All three Landmass types and it worked every time. What are your settings ?
 
-the grphics corruption is at you end my friend - it seems that your grphic card needs a driver update - and then it will be fixed (hopefully).

i tried an older version (because i had some problems with uploading.com [fixed now]), and had the same problems.

I think it's related to the dds files. I removed mip maps (they won't be used for interface graphics anyway) and resized dds file to a more standard size (eg. 1024x1024 for fullscreen images). That fixed the graphical distortions.

I thought, that only 4 gamespeeds can be displayed, but i'm not sure atm.

That could be true. Once I wanted to add another game speed to my game but it didn't show up in game options. I had to edit an existing game speed to make it work.

if koma, our new member , will do the building models, it will greatly save me some time, and then i can head to changing the civics.

Just wanted to say ATI will show distortion once an image is too big. We had this problem quite a bit with the WoC. First it was the fonts they were fixed. Now there is no solution though for us adding extra yields. If the image is too big is just screws up on them. I think Intel graphic cards have similar problems as well.

Fixing them for both of course is always better. But may explain why anyway.

Yes, I have an ATI card. But leaderhead images are corrupted too and their size is 288x288px. :confused:
 
They are the wrong size is why. Any ATI card then will do it. Not just yours. Nothing wrong on your end.

At least I think so anyway. Everything is suppose to work in multiples of 64 for dds files.

hey guys,

sorry dont have alot of time to mod at the moment, doing my best,

i had to fix a little bug ive made, took me 2 hours yesterday,

but its coming along nice,

im nearly finished with the buildings, have some more work on it but not too much though.

im waiting on koma's models .

after that ill change the civics, some balance and other small stuff.


10 days pheonician...o dont think ill finish by then, but you can usure do can play the latest version, ill upload on the weakend the latest, which will be a bit more interesting then the last one.

perhaps when you get back from turkey, youll have dune wars ready :)

hey guys,

im almost finished with the promotions buttons,

i changed almost all civic names, used dune wikipedia for it.


we dont have much to go now !

whats left:

1. buildings model art - by kmoa

2. add a few more buildings

3. balance the units and unit preqe of resources

4. go over the events.

5. add some of the new uniqe units ive created.



i hope ill finish within a weeks time !

if anyone can lay a hand - it will be faster!
 
oh yes, please try the map. hopefully it is not only running on my computer ^^

Keldath, I used your CIV4ArtDefines_Building.xml-NEW ART as a jumping point, adding new buildings if model was broken or looked really out of place.

im uploading now the latest version,
i did quite alot of stuff here,
* changed graphics of some stuff
* created 2 new features on the map
* all icons are now set (some duplications but.. barley noticed
* changed great people names
* changed civics names
* changed all buildings tech preqeq
* added koma's building graphics
* houses now start the game with 2 settlets and 2 scouts
* you cannot build railroads anymore - out of dune now.

some more balancing stuff.

this is whats left:

add terraforming mod.
change some more unit graphics ive created
add 1-2 sand sea units
balance some stuff
graphic rescaling.
add some missing buildings.
add a bit more bulding graphics.
do the events
get some model for a worm - will be a barbarian unit - untill someone makes us an sdk/python work.

DLing now, I'll post comments later. Out of curiosity, is the leaderhead art from the new movie in? (Just wondering because I'd like to use Leto and Mohiam in my mod, and if someone has already gone to the trouble of making it, I'd use that.)

EDIT: Keldath, why haven't you added in the diplo music that I put together? It won't increase the mod size by that much, it already isn't a small mod. Also, I would really reccomend PakBuilding the art assets as it both reduces them in size (IIRC) and also makes the mod load faster. I think Wolfshanze put together a tutorial on it.

Sounds have working no link still if you get the chance keldath to fix them.

If there is something particular important that you need my help with me just let me know. The main menu is not a critical thing I mean to make fancy.

What routes are you using now? Still roads?
