[BtS] "Extra"

Blast, you're right Kadasbrass. It is a clone of the National Epic in it's current form :S.
Still, I don't think it's possible to give +1 research per engineer with XML alone.. You can only give +1 research to all specialists, or give +1 hammer/food/commerce per specialist type. At least, that's what it looks like.

I am a little concerned about Big Ben + Shakespeare=enormous drafting potential? I didn't employ this combo (intentionally) in my last game but I'd be curious from folks who do...

As for a Wonder equivalent of the National Epic--that's okay. I mean, there's Versailles/Reichstag/Forbidden lalala.

I have to agree with mariocerame, don't worry about wonders cloning each other too much. I mean, in the real world there are wonders and buildings that bring similar benefits, why not maintain some of that in Civ?

For example lets use the Theatre of Dionysus which was a copy of the Globe Theater. Why change it? We also have the UN and the Apostolic Palace which are very similar. Its ok to have more then one globe theater, especially on large maps! In fact, I'd prefer that bonus over +2 artists. I also think it would be great if there was a copy of the Great Pyramids, why should only one civilization have it's benefit?

As for the Armor Factory, I liked having to build it so I could produce tanks. It almost simulates industrialism as only productive cities will be able to build a factory to build these tanks, you don't always see small AI nations with hundreds of tanks running around. It was A GREAT BALANCE MECHANISM. I think you should keep it for that very reason. Perhaps you should first build an airport before you can build aircraft (at least better aircraft) or a harbor/drydock (better ships).

You can make primitive units without these buildings but to build higher tech and improved units then you need to build a harbor, drydock, airport, and armor factory. See what I mean?

I think that effect is simulated in the longer build times it takes (more hammers) for a tank than a simpler unit like a warrior for example.

A small AI nation won't be able to match the production of a industrial giant if all things were equal. (*cough* AI cheats *cough*)

I must first congratulate you for this wonderful mod, <tries> even if some map proposals are seriously lacking ;p

[edit] UN elections comes a few turns later.

I love the concept of this mod. It has all the elements I am looking for in a good mod, especially the late game.

I tried it on "Marathon" speed and was frustrated by the fact that for instance instead of taking only a couple turns, it now takes MANY turns just to create a road (for instance).

What I am looking for speedwise, is a game that lets me really enjoy each era (for instance, by the time I get knights, they are not already outdated before I build up a few). However, at the same time, upon starting the game I don't get "60 turns to build one settler" when I have a fairly decent starting position.

What is the intended speed for this mod?

What does everyone else play on?

I played with noble difficulty (which I am usually most comfortable with) by 1940 I had amassed a score of about 4000+ compared to everyone else who had no greater than 2000. This was pretty unusual for me. It could be through my strategy to grab almost every wonder I can find.

I was fighting another war on another continent and I go to create a colony of 4 cities (a vassal).

Each time I get a CTD. Is this a problem of this mod or something else?

I can try to post the save if that will help?

I am torn between updating to 3.13 or trying to play this mod with my weakened economy due to my overseas conquests.

Chiyu;

I love your mod; that's why I'm relly upset that once I downloaded the new patch for BTS that "Extra" wouldn't run. I keep getting an error message, yet BTS by itself runs fine. Do I need to tweak something?

Thanks;

I updated my mod for 3.13. You may be able to play this mod by deleting the CvGameCoreDLL.dll in the Exta/Assets folder. If not, you'll have to wait for chiyu to update his mod.

Next version will include VD mod by Avain version 1.7 but not be 3.13 BTS patch compatable unfortanately. But I trust Chiyu will update it in short working order.

Thats a warning to whoever hasn't downloaded the patch if they want to play this mod DONT UPDATE TO 3.13 BTS!
