Took my headphone to my parents to listen to some of the music over the weekend...and it seems they are broken :cry:. Cable was completely twisted already before, but now it's over. Damn.

Question - is the front page still up-to-date re: this mod not really being balanced yet? I've been watching it for a while but am hoping to hold out for the finished version. I'm excited to see that it is still very actively being worked on :)

Yes, that part is still up to date: Balancing is not really done already. Because it would need playtesting, and that again needs time :(.

And active developement is also relative, i only had 4 patches in the last 4 months :(.

This means that they often set up in the middle of a resourceless desert flatland with mediocre tech, making it impossible for them to even become a slight impact in the game. They definitely need balancing.

The technology should normally be up to date when they spawn.
But good point about the terrain.
I guess it is logically no problem to terraform automatically a bit of their terrain when they found their cities.

Also, I don't understand what's the deal with the female Korea leader and the imperial looking Chinese leader. Is the female Korean leader supposed to be an nth generation North Korean dictator, because she sure looks like it. Does China return to their imperial ways, because the Chinese leader who's dressed fancy looks like he's some kind imperial bureaucrat.

The korean female leader is, as per Vortilex civilopedia entry :D, southern korean.
That she looks like a military dictator does probably come from the background, from the person she was supposted to be, or rather is, in cfkanes mod.

Haven't thought of china yet :blush:, but it's a nice interpretation.
 
I have a few things to address about a few issues I found while browsing the Civiliopedia:

Rosswell, the green alien guy, apparently has no animation.
Robert Jobs, the second PSE leader, has a broken Civiliopedia entry.
Why is the cathedral for Panzer Kunst and Brotherhood of Mars smaller than the temple?

I also have a few suggestions for a little renaming:

Instead of Holy Artefact of the Panzer Kunst, maybe Panzer Kunst Grand Training Grounds.
Instead of Holy Artefact of the Brotherhood of Mars, maybe The Brotherhood of Mars Grand Congregation.

Here's my Civiliopedia entry for Canada:

Despite all the turmoil happening in the world around it, Canada found itself rather calm and untouched, maintaining its status as leader in world peace. This calm was broken when the world supply of oil and uranium began to rapidly decline, with many of the few remaining sources of both in Canada. Safely under the wing of the United States, Canada found itself in a seat of power as the one and only supplier of uranium in the world. With the wealth brought in uranium trade, Canada began a covert space program to Mars, lead by the trio Jean Chirac, Adam Johnson and Herold Sorenson, years before the UN announced its colonization program. The world began a hectic scramble to be the first ones to place a colony on Mars and ply its potential resources. Canada, not wanting to lose its trade that came for being the only source of uranium, quickly launched their colonists, hoping to grab as much uranium before other countries could get some for themselves.

I really enjoyed seeing aliens spawn in my last game, but they were so weak and pointless, it felt like a waste of resources. They should spawn earlier, with more units, and at better locations. Otherwise, you might as well remove them to get rid of clutter. I've never seen the aliens make any difference in my games.
 
if there is anoher thread for this please point me towars it (after several months at cfc I still have not learned to navigate the forums well :rolleyes:)

Whenever i try to download the mod it just stops at 32.4 mb there is no error message or anything but you can leave it over an hour and it does not move it al please help. i have tried all three downloads :(
 
Maybe it's your internet connection. Maybe the server's just a little too far or something.

Here's some rough specs for possible UUs for different civs I just came up with. Changes are bolded:

Medjay Contractor (I'm not sure about the name)
UU for the Private Space Explorers, replaces Mercenary
Str. 2, Move 2
Starts with Combat I, Mobility
20% City Attack


People's Liberation Army
UU For the People's Republic of China, replaces Infantry
Str. 7, Move 1
Starts with Drill 1, Drill 2
+ all normal Infantry bonuses

That's all I can think of right now.

Due to some restrictions on my connection i get this all the time, not sure what causes this.


...you can't believe, how time can fly.
Sat down only 2 hours yesterday, added all the texts, changed the names and added anthems for ESA, NASA, Russia, China and Canada, and gave some more power to the alines...and nothing more :(...time.


Adding the People's Liberation Army as UU for China makes sense, and i thought i had a probably suiting model, but i don't :(. I know what to do with the next fitting infantry unit.

The Contractor is overpowered, and i don't like warrior UUs myself.


I have a LH over, a caucasian male LH. Should any of the existing LHs be replaced, or does any of the civs need another leader?
 
Hmm. You know what I notice? Games seem to take too long. I mean, if I'm playing on epic, I have to get to turn 500 to actually have a stable infrastructure, and a large colony. Maybe it's just me, but it seems as though the game is tedious and the first 200 turns are useless.
 
Okay, I got it to work finally (you were right about my connection)

Some thoughts:

Some wonders are overpowered I built the holo park, artificial organs and that wonder that gives 50% food in a city combined with import animals and plants my city ended the game at ssize 40 still growing quickly, no other city came close to it in size.

units are to slow, perhaps its just me but on normal speed my one move tanks were taking 25 turns to get to my enemies borders, I spent more time waiting for my units to arrive than fighting
 
I just downloaded this mod and attempted to load it, but I get an error that says "GFC Error: failed to initialize the primary control theme". What does this mean and what should I do?
 
@ J : Do you have a patch yet? Also, I'm not a big fan of Warrior UUs either, but I feel that the PSE should be getting a better Mercenary because they aren't bound by international treaty. They can afford to hire the best mercenaries. The Mobility and move upgrade is to make early rushing viable considering how far each civ is from eachother. The Combat I and bonus to city attack were suppose to simulate the Quechua. Maybe Herold Sorensen's LH should be replaced because for some reason, when I look at him when he's face straight, I can't really see his nose. It's not too big of a problem though. Could we have a peek at the LH of which you speak?

@ Evan : I've gotten the same error as you. What you need to do is to download the .zip version and place it in your Mods folder in BTS. If that still doesn't work, download the latest patch and install it. I think that's what worked for me.

+50% is maybe a bit too much.
Problem here is that i don't have a national wonder restriction (due to evolution victory), so i can't limit them in one city, which leads to these effects.
Can't see a good solution at the moment :think:.

I want the empires to be spread (tightly settled Mars is not really flavourful), but the time delay...:think: adding +1 movement point to every unit is maybe a solution.

You know, I built the tunnel to the mars centre, mars space station, and spammed suraface drills, and I got over 800 production.

The core exploration is maybe overpowered too...i'll maybe cut the bonus down to 25%.

I guess you've downloaded the .zip file, and not the .exe, right?
If so: The mod CAN NOT be installed in My Documents (it has to be in the subfolder of the program files [standard path], together with all the default mods) and the name of the folder has to be marsjetzt-v04, other folder names will not work.

That sounds better, but the mobility promotion was certainly overpowered.

I'm always using LHs which are made for something else, so don't be suprised :D: I had this one in mind, but while clicking through the database i also saw this one, might work too.

Lol Stephen Colbert. From what I see, I think that the only LH that's suitable is the first one, which could replace the Democracy loving Russian LH, because frankly, that LH is freaking me out with it's constant staring to his left.

Here are my edited ideas:

Private Military Contractor
UU for the Private Space Explorers, Replaces Elite Unit (not Mercenary anymore)
Str. 7, Move 1
Smaller Hammer Cost, Higher Support Cost
Cities garrisoned in 50% less likely to revolt (non-accumulative)
100% more Gold from Pillaging


People's Liberation Army
UU For the People's Republic of China, replaces Elite Unit
Str. 8, Move 1
Starts with Drill 1, Drill 2

Mars Legionnaire
UU For the Mars-Explorers, replaces Elite Unit
Str. 10, Move 1
No bonuses
(This will make the Mars Explorers not suck)

Also rename Canada UU Ski Patrol to Canadian Ranger.

These are more ideas. Tell me what you think!

I guess i have a suitalbe unit for the legionaire, for the rest...i don't know, i have to look around.


And if the eyes are the only problem, then i'm quite happy :).
If this is really the only problem...mmhh...maybe they can get adjusted, but i'm not a graphics guy.
 
Maybe you use #3 for the Paratroopers.

(Whichever is not overpowered)

Same Hammers
All Recon Units built recieve Sentry
+ normal Barracks stuff
 
Added the 2 buildings, nice ideas :).
Haven't made big progress with the units. Was about adding a premade helmet to one, but somehow i've separated the skeleton from the mesh...er...have to try it again tomorrow.

I've today wasted a lot of time with searching for quotes, that was discouraging.

At all i don't have a big motivation at the moment :sad:.
