[BtS MOD] Wolfshanze 1850-1920 Enhancement Mod v2.0

Quick Question- what files do you have to copy/paste over to get HRE changed to Austira without a crash?

Going to try adjusting the merged mods mod to get that changed.

NOOO! Not another update. Im sticking with the last one for a while, Ive downloaded you're mod too many times already.

Youre Lite bombers are an especially nice addition, I like having Carrier-bombers with antinaval capacity for my marine assult and regular bombers for inland city bombing(With a stack of fighters to send wherever I need air defence of course)
Naval war much more important, much less one sided, all units are being used by the AI (and by me, though I tend not to build galesses because I rarely get guilds early enough, the AI uses them very well)
The balance of the game is so good, Wolfshanze is my default for normal civ (also FFH and my own mod)

The best part is there is nothing that makes you go Huh? Cannons moved to the right place, naval war makes sense, Air war makes more sense, Early tanks are cool.
Many thanks.

Hmmm... well, that all depends on your end-goal.

1st-off, is this for a saved-game in-progress, or a new game start? Even with a proper switch-over of files, a saved game maintains it's own civ names, so if you started a game with the HRE, you'll end the game with the HRE even if you did a full and proper convert of the base files.

Next question, if it's for a fresh game start, it all depends on just how much you want Austria to be "Austria". If you want nothing more then a name change, you can simply do it in the "Civ4CivilizationsInfos.xml" file... if, however, you want to rename Charlemagne to Francis I, and especially if you want to add Emperor Franz Josef (along with the new animated leaderhead files), you're going to need to do a LOT of changes to numerous XML files.

Third... I did a new national flag for Austria... once again, XML and FPK changes required.

Fourth... there's the new nation-specific unit graphics I'm doing for Austria... which (once again) is numerous changes (along with FPK change).

So I guess you have to ask yourself, how much do you want to change and how many files you want to modify?

Here's the new Franz Josef of Austria:

I'm glad you enjoy the Wolfshanze Mod... if it's of any consolation, the current version (2.63) should play-nice with any saved games from v2.60 and above.

Nah, I wont worry about it, but I am getting into a habit of only updating every few weeks, you do so much Wolf, its what makes you're mod so good (that and you're good sense of history and balance)
Thank you again.

Couldn't you have made this a small update download? :p
If all I did was an XML change... but I did add a new leaderhead and numerous new unit models for Austria... so... big download again... come on folks... you're not all still stuck with dial-up are ya? Shouldn't take that long on broadband.

Well... I'm done for the foreseeable future... kinda out of ideas... wanna still play/finish my v2.60 saved game (which does work with v2.63). The only thing that will prompt me for a new release will be collecting more unit models.... which is mostly dependant on the other modders in the community.

v2.61 was released because I wanted to get Austria out the door... v2.62 was released because of a major CTD bug... v2.63 was released because I had enough material to make a major upgrade for Austria which I wasn't even thinking much about with v2.61... all v2.6x versions are compatible with each-other regarding saved games... but yeah... barring an influx of new units or a brilliant new idea... I'm done for awhile... v2.63 is it (for this moment in time).

Hmm, how many times have you said, I'm done for a while, just before another major relese.
Still, I wouldnt mind Austria being more filled out, it makes much more sense than HRE, Ill grab the new version.

Well... I'm done for awhile... scouts honor... just got to release this next version in a few minutes, then I'm done...

No really... v2.63 is the FINAL version (for tonight and probably tomorrow morning too).

P.S.
I'm trying to convince a few moders to help-out with some more Austrian units... I'm not done with Austria, but until I get more models I am... some of the Austrian units I consider "placeholders" till I get some better stuff.

Hey Wolfshanze, any chance for some thoughts on this post? :)

Wolfshanze, I need some advice! :)

As you know, I'm combining your mod with Dales. Part of that work involves assigning values for each unit for the ranged bombardment feature. Dale has used certaing values for the ships in the game, however, these values do not transfer so easily to your mod, seeming as you have a lot more ships to choose from! :)

So, here goes. I need a range for the cannons, and an accuracy. The range is in plots in the game, and I don't think values above 2 are appropriate. I'm not sure, but I assume that the amount of damage caused by bombardement increases with ship strength as well. Based on Dales values, I've gone ahead and assigned some values to your shipclasses, but I'm not sure how historically accurate these would be. Your input is much appreciated.

I think I'd go with something like this...

Ship Range Accuracy

Frigate 1 50
Ship of the Line 1 50

Ironclad Gunboat 1 50
Ironclad Cruiser 1 50
Ironclad Battleship 1 55
Paddle Steamer 1 40

Protected Cruiser 1 55
Pre-Dreadnought 2 60 (range could go 1 or 2 here... long-range naval fire was really introduced with the pre-dreadnoughts)

Destroyer Escort 1 60
Dreadnought 2 70

Destroyer 1 70
Cruiser 1 80
Battleship 2 80
Missile Cruiser 2 90 (range representing the missiles more then the guns... maybe even a "3" if you wanted)
Stealth Destroyer 1 90

well al be glad Wolfshanze is updating his mod so fast.I am at least. If you look at firaxis they don't update their still faulty patch at all fot BTS wich was released half year ago.

Thanks for patching your mod.

Thanks for the input, Wolfshanze. I'll edit those values in the next release.

Hi Wolfshanze was the Blackbird Recon bird ever armed and could you sneak it in your mod somehow as its a real cool plane luv to have one or two buzzing around.PS Good job on the Redcoat going back where he belongs muskets not rifles, all we neeed now is the swirl of the bagpipes.

Hmm. Maybe a Highlander type model could be the British Grenadier?

User error... you're guessing, I'm testing.
Not to detract from your testing at all, and thanks by the way for the fast fixes.

I did a poll which so far indicates almost 1/3 of users experience more crashes with more civs or larger maps. While the statistical size is still small (though it's growing), this does indeed give indication that there is something wrong with the core engine.

Anyway it's the main reason I don't use the 34-civ dll myself. I am one of the people who experienced more crashes (despite my system being quite good). And also why I personally would recommand against bundling it with your mod, which is otherwise quite good.

Agreed arstal he is, pity is i dont use grenadiers much, do you know if the blackbird was ever armed its such a great aircraft.
The CIA attempted to arm the original A-12 as the YF-12, but found that it was literally too fast for interception; they'd overtake the aircraft before the pilot could plot an interception course, lock on and fire his weapon. Similar to the experience of Me-163 pilots, only more so.
As for recon aircraft, I think the UAV would be a better choice.

Hey Wolfshanze, how come the Dreadnought doesn't obsolete? Shouldn't it go away whenever... what's it upgrade to, Battleships?... is available?
