Nice update, trexeric! :goodjob:

Chapter 8: Iceland and The Althing

Trade relations with eastern Asia had been flourishing for the Vikings ever since the launch of Columbus' ship. In fact, the Khmer civilization asked for refuge under the house of The Thing. The request was denied, for that would just drag the Vikings into the useless 'War of the South China Sea' (a war with Khmer on one side and China and Japan on the other). However, the Mongolian Khanate met with The Thing as soon as he made peace with China (from the 'Khan's War'). The Thing gifted the Mongol Khan fine literature. The Khan was quite pleased.

In Aztec lands, the Akaphor Indians invaded. The Akaphor had endless armies of Dog Soldiers and Archers. Soon, as the Dog Soldiers were finally defeated by superior Aztec Jaguars, the Akaphor archers entered the territory. It wasn't until the archers were near Tenochtitlan that the armies acted. This started the 'Battle of the Copper Mine'. The first action was when Viking cannons killed parts of the army. Then, Viking pikemen killed armies of archers. After that, Viking knights from both the capital and the spice fields killed the archers. Finally, with the combined forces of Viking musketmen and Aztec spearmen, the Akaphors were chased into a nearby copper mine. The mine collapsed the next day.

Also, another Russian war began. The 'Byzantine and Russian War', also known as the 'Russian Religious Revolution', was a war between the Byzantine Empire and the Buddhist Russian State. This war started when Catherine the Great (a Christian) became Tsar. As Catherine invaded Constantinople, she converted the Buddhist Russians into Russian Orthodoxy. The war ended as Catherine's troops captured Constantinople. This war triggered the Byzantine Civil War.

Back in Viking lands, a settling mission took place. First, to sponsor this plan, a large fur trading business called 'Arjeplog Furs' demanded half of the Aztec and Incan treasury, for the Viking treasury was dropping drastically. They agreed, and in 1655, Reykjavik was founded on the island of Iceland. Once The Thing met here, they created a new system of government, called the Althing. This governing system said all states got their own Thing, and once a year they met in Iceland. This was the end of The Thing and start of the Althing!

well...

couldn't have said it better myself.

Russian-German religion war.

and well, why would you keep good relations with some unstable, weak and backwards Asian country? :mischief:
watch for European agression...i would rather keep good relations with a european power if i was you. Europe already has enough wars when it's 100% christian

This thing in the map (independent cities west of the Ottos) are/were the byzzies?

Russian-German religion war.
It's just what they called it, okay?

They have luxury resources like silk, plus, only Khmer is unstable (and they have no use to me)

Don't worry - they fear me ever since the England incident. They also like me - I have open borders with everyone.

Chapter 9: The Holy Roman Plague

Plague hit in 1680. Originating in Frankfurt, a Holy Roman Sate, this Plague killed an estimated 5,000,000 people in Europe alone. By 1690, the Vikings were completely effected. The recovery was painful for all empires.

In early 18th century Asia, plague hasn't spread yet. China has betrayed her long time ally, Japan. The ruler, Emperor Won Ki Fo said, "Japan had refused to give us tribute. Therefore, we shall go to eternal war. We shall fight 'till the last man standing." As Won Ki Fo died, his son, Won Fi Lan, became emperor of China. He made peace with Khmer, because 'fighting two enemies is foolish'. The War of the South China Sea raged on.

Back in the Viking homeland, the Althing needs more money for the treasury to pay for all the deaths. They change the government so that they can right a new amendment to the current Acts of Norway:

-Viking ports shall have opened markets. (adopts Free Market)
-States off of mainland Viking still must pay tribute and be loyal to the Althing (adopts Resettlement)
-From the largest cities, representatives shall attend the Althing (adopts Representation)
-Production and commerce maintained by the peoples shall be focused in the capital, Nidaros (adopts Bureaucracy)
-Peoples in the work force will work harder to improve Viking lands (adopts Serfdom)
-There won't be a dominant religion (adopts Free Religion)

Around this time, the Holy Roman Plague had destroyed the empire in which it originated. (Yes, the Germans/Holy Romans went into civil war.) Also, Neuw Amsterdam citizens founded their own city called Washington. The next day, revolts in Washington led to the creation of America. America fought against the Dutch for independence. Also, the Holy Roman Plague was freed from Europe into Asia.

I dont know why but i really like this story:cool:, maybe its cause there aren't many Viking stories:viking:

Chapter 10: History of Europe

European history had been leading up to this moment. You have already heard Viking history, but here is mainland European history (in Viking eyes):

Iberia: The Iberian Peninsula is split up into two parts; Portugal and Spain. However these countries are different, they have had a close bond since the Treaty of Lisbon after the Portuguese War of Independence. Both sides are still paranoid about the other, however. Also, both sides are major colonial powers, Portugal owning Brazil and Spain owning other lands (I honestly forgot where they settled). Neither country has any real connections with Vikings, other than Mjorkin's Death stopping in Portugal.

France: France has long had a rivalry with the Vikings. For example, the third French king, King Belli, provided the English with money and food to help the armies overcome the Vikings. Also having a major rivalry with the Netherlands, the French sent many spies into Dutch lands to provide information. Half of the spies have been caught. During the early 18th century, King Louis XVII stepped down from the throne. His son, Louis XVIII, would give the world the most horrendous monster since Erik Bloodaxe, Napoleon.

Netherlands: The Netherlands have been supporting the Vikings ever since the War of the Islands. In fact, the Netherlands even made a declaration of war sent to the English. In the war, they sent triremes to blockade London. The Dutch have been quiet until the Americans declared their independence. Now, the Netherlands are a supreme target for anyone looking for a small bit of land and money. The Dutch leaders would focus on capturing and maintaining German cities if not for the Americans.

Germany and Italy: Germany, also known as the Holy Roman Empire, captured Italy in the late Medieval era, being a union until Italy split away in the early times of the Holy Roman Plague. At one point, the Holy Roman Empire stretched from Wilna to Frankfurt, Rome to Berlin. The Holy Romans held the annual Christian meeting at the Vatican in Rome. After the Holy Roman Plague, Italy split from Germany. After the French under Louis XVIII conquered Rome, the Germans fell into civil war. Now, German land is up for grabs for anyone who wants it.

Russia: The original Land of the Rus was where Swedish Vikings settled down. Viking records of them was lost until the Jewish Russian State met with The Thing. When the Jewish Russians converted to Buddhism, they became warlike. This sparked the Buddhist War with Germany. Wilna was the only city captured in this war, and the Buddhists set their eyes on the East Roman Empire, otherwise known as the Byzantines. As Catherine the Great came to the throne, the Russian Religious Revolution began. As Russia fought, they became more and more Russian Orthodox. At the capture of Constantinople, the Russians were fully Christian. The next year they entered the Vatican for the first time.

this is the one of the best stories i have read in the forums. i like your writing style

EDIT: you should also make an asia and america history in Viking eyes.
