[BtS] Rise of Mankind 2

this scenario: ''earth 1000 ad'' doesnt exist in the list of available scenario under rise of mankind mod. (2.71)
what to do? is it posible to be in the next version ? or a similar scenario (earth map and every civ with few citys in midle ages or renaissance era) ?

I'll try the logging thing! But what I have tested so far is I have used the core mod and loaded the empty map successfully. I then tried installing just the civpack (and had many problems with my extractor programs) and found that the problem occurs with just that added in. I am about to try it with a different (generated) map to see if it will load the civ's that I select or if I still get the problem.

I am just so frustrated right now. The things I have to go through just to play a game.

PS. I haven't made any modifications to any of the XML files yet. The only thing I modified was the Map file for the GEM and that was to clear the civs. I have been able to verify that the map works ( I loaded it with the base RoM mod fine). I also just attempted to generate a map with the mod and the civpack expansion and it still failed. So, the problem has to be with the expansion.

BTW, here is the link for the CivPack Expansion for RoM

BobTheBull - I have examined the log though I don't know what the problem is. It looks like everything is saying "successful".

Maybe somebody can point it out to me?!? Otherwise, I am lost!

Wow, that 3 posts in a row while you could've just used the edit button. They're all in a 40 minute timespan!

Anyhow: the complaint about the flooded plains strikes a good point but I haven't encountered it in my games yet. I reckon though that it's a seed value in the mapmaking script. Which script are you running, Fried-Pistalon?

Tryed this mod last time about 1 year ago, and i finally see that there's also the future era! :goodjob:

Anyway, ca 1400 im getting tons of crashes. Game is on Huge Map with about 20+ civs. Crashes seem randomized but they happen very often :(

Your first problem is using a Huge Map. Your second problem is using 20+ civs, your third problem is underestimating the ability to crash that all Gamebryo engine games have. :)
Your fourth problem is not having a computer that is from the future. Which is what's required to use this mod on a Huge map.
Also, what mod options do you use? Revolutions? (Barf!)

Um... pretty much default stuff, I think. RoM_Shuffle is my map chooser - even when playing SP, I have a strong disdain for "skewed conditions" - a MP mentality - and everything else I leave as default in terms of map creation.

They appear every game and are bordering on common in the mid-latitude rivers.

Thorburn:

That doesn't look anything like my xml.log. Is that all there is in the file? You are running ROM 2.71 with WOC enabled and you do have modular loading turned on, right? And you did do the jar thing with the add on you are trying to use, right?

In other words, have you read and followed all the instructions.

There have been a number of posts about the hardware needed to run ROM with large scale maps and many civs, etc. Most emphasize need of RAM ≥4 Gb but I have not seen anything about free disk space or pagefile size, etc. Anybody know anything about this they could share?

You are right. Sorry about that! My mind was a mess and I didn't think about editing the posts to add the additional thoughts and information.

Revolutions too indeed.

Computer is quite good anyway. Shame i have to abandon that game, i was playing very well on Monarch difficulty. Uff :(

That's the log file that I have. As far as the JAR file, I did run it (though it was not in the folder that the instructions directed to... it was in the parent folder of that one which I don't remember off hand). My computer is fairly new. My DXDiag is in the following spoiler:

I had to take some of my DXDiag out due to limitatins on post length. I took out the DirectShow filters portion.
Thank you for assisting me with this. And don't worry, I don't expect you to solve my problem or anything, but if you are able to, I will love you forever ;) (in a manly sort of way... just to be clear) That goes for anybody that is able to assist me with working this issue out. All I want to do is play Civ

You don't need to abandon the game - you just have to be careful and save very regularly. Without a future computer and those settings, your game will always be very slow or crash a lot.

It'll also help if you open up your case and vacuum out the fan and air slots.

Tryed this mod last time about 1 year ago, and i finally see that there's also the future era! :goodjob:

Anyway, ca 1400 im getting tons of crashes. Game is on Huge Map with about 20+ civs. Crashes seem randomized but they happen very often :(

I play on huge maps and get a max of two crashes a game. I do not play with Revolutions nor do I have the addon Civ pack, both either max my machine out or cause random crashes.

auronic1, BTS had the automated workers building forts on resources that weren't in any city's fat X, that's not the mod. Though it would be nice if zappara could make the workers smarter or put more specific orders in the options menu. For example, I'd like automated workers to not replace existing improvements, unless a resource becomes visible. It's also not clear to me if the 'leave forests' option gets in the way of building mines on forested hills (it shouldn't) or turning it off lets workers remove those forests when building mines (which I don't want them to do).

I'd like some limited terraforming options. Not to turn everything into grassland, but to make tundra and deserts equivalent (even if they're still called something different) to plains. And I'd like to get some use out of mountain tiles.

I don't know if the modern mine is there to give workers one more thing to do, but I'd rather shaft mines develop into it once it became available. If that's possible, I'd also like to see towns unavailable before medieval times, and a further increase in the industrial era (suburbs?) and modern times (urban sprawl/eminant domain?). I'd also like to see cottage growth spread out from a city, so that cottages could only become hamlets if another hamlet or the city was adjacent, and so forth.

I'd also like to see the 'World's Greatest [building]' brought back (from discussions predating Civ3). For every standard building in the game, there would be a Greatest version of it that provides double the usual benefits (where doubling makes sense, like the granary's health benefit, not a coal plant's power benefit) and 1 gpp of an appropriate type. It would cost double the base building and would replace it and each city could only have one (or you could count it towards the national wonder limit). Unlike wonders, it could be replaced by another civilization which paid triple the production (and quadruple, quintuple, etc.).

On a minor note I just got around to picking up Colonization. I noted it has an 'exit' button on the city screen. I'd really like to see that brought over so I don't have to hit Esc every time (or cancel my population allocation).

Don't get me wrong this is a great mod (aside from those memory allocation errors that keep killing my game). I just wanted to add to the brainstorming.

Arakhor, when you say 'one timescale shorter,' do you mean more or fewer turns?

I figured it was default bts i was trying to just suggest it be fixed in some way. Also i hit the enter key to exit cities and it works fine.
Also i was thinking about something related to espionage. When i trained a spy in a city with several of the buildings that boost the xp of units built in the city i noticed that my spies didn't even start with a xp bar and they definitely did not receive the boost to xp that they should of. I was wondering if this was a problem in the game itself or just a problem I'm having..
Additionally i was thinking of a possible new idea for a trait. I was thinking maybe there could be a trait for people(like myself) who like to exploit water tiles and would like a bonus to water tile food/gold harvest. So i was thinking of a trait that would be +1food/+1gold harvest on water tiles in all cities(perhaps even +1 construction?). As for a name i hadn't really thought of a good name for it possibly something like sailor, mariners, or something.
Edit: Also a minor grip i found was when i make a custom game on ROM I need to reset all my custom options and custom settings. It would be nice if it could somehow memorize the settings like the normal game does.

Yeah, I wanted to thank your collective tolerance for some inadvertant dumb questions. I saw the 'silk revealed' entry on weaving the first time I checked the tech tree after writing that post. And I know you can get out of the city screen by double clicking on the center tile (but that re-automates the population placement). I recently discovered that clicking on the blackened tiles on the city screen outside the fat X (not inside as the BUG mod uses that as a command to shift tile ownership between cities) also takes you out of the screen.

I thought Escape did that as well. Either that or F10 :)

Escape is the only way to get out of the city screen that I've seen documented. I've been playing with a friend in the hot seat mode, and I'd prefer we not have to reach over each other all the time.

If you have a mouse with a middle button/mousewheel button, just click it in the city screen and you're out. If you don't have one, just get a real mouse ;-P

Hitting Enter or Esc should get you out of the city screen. Right and left arrows will take you to the next/previous cities; the cities are ordered according to founding time, oldest to newest.
