[BTS] The History of Three Kingdoms

Okay I'm releasing the new music pack for 2.01 with patch A
So here's the link

http://www.sendspace.com/file/qivaaj

It contains alot of XML fixes from the previous version. In the previous version I added the test XML instead of the finished XML so only 3 of the 13 songs were playing  So sorry about that, but it's all fixed now.

I've also edited the diplomatic music so now there'll be custom music when you zoom in to your cities and when you engage in diplomacy. There's also different music depending on you're at war or at peace with your rivals.

It's not 100% yet because I haven't add music for the Yellow Turbans but they're not in the main scenarios so they can wait :D

Please feel free to let me know about any bugs or problems because I know I must be missing something  Praises are also welcome :king:

Hope everyone enjoy this :crazyeye:

@stmartin Did you know Zhang Xiu is a Nanman? When I edited the music in CIV4leaderheadsinfo.xml for the Nan_Man leader, Zhang Xiu ended up with the music. Also Liu Yao is named Liu You there.

the link you gave doesn't work for me:confused:

stmartin,

Thank you for this mod. I, like many others, have been a Three Kingdoms fan for a long time and am really enjoying playing this mod. Thank you for your time and effort.

I did notice two possible bugs.

With Citrus Fruit, as long as you have the Anesthesia technology, a Fort, and a route, your civ can reap the benefits of Citrus Fruit very early without waiting for the ability to build Plantations from the Calendar technology. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not.

Also, I was playing a "regular" game with the ROTK mod, and ended up with some odd diplomatic occurances. I, as Liu Bei, wiped out everybody exept for Cao Cao and Liu Biao. Liu Biao was the underdog and I decided to get friendly with him, and we eventually signed a defensive pact. Understandably this upset Cao Cao and I then suffered a "-4 You have signed a defensive pact with one of our rivals" penalty from Cao Cao. However what I didn't understand was why I still suffered from that penalty after Cao Cao decided to sign a Defensive Pact with Liu Biao. If the two of them had a defensive pact with one another shouldn't they not be rivals anymore?

Thanks again for such an awesome mod.

I think the second bug you provided also exists in the bts regular game,AIs view every other AIs as a "rival". Human players would suffer a diplomatic penalty no matter you sign a defensive pact or get a vassal state.Although it is unreasonable, but I get use to it.

After playing with Fall from Heavens 2 for so long I just couldn't get back to normal vanilla CIV4 terrain graphics. So I got Chuggi's improved graphics and put in those terrains instead. I edited the mod so that it's only the terrain part.

I also didn't like the Normal Beyond the Sword main menu and the original Three Kingdoms main menu was a little bit plain, so I put something together for the new main menu. I linked a pic of my version of the menu.

For some reason I couldn't get my screenshot to work, so I included Chuggi's improved graphic pic as well.

And here's the link to the alternative graphic pack

Thanks!

BTW, have you experienced any obvious performance hit after changing the terrain set? If the new terrain doesn't cause too much performance problem, then in the next release it could be included.

Also, are you sure you did see this starting menu? I really like it!

I haven't notice any slowdown with this terrain set. It's similar to FfH 2 terrain, so there shouldn't be any problems.

I have seen the Three Kingdoms starting menu and I like the affects, but it just reminded me a little too much of the original Civ and not Three Kingdoms. Perhaps instead of the Earth, you could put in a map of the Three Kingdoms and a few of the leaders? I do think your title is much better than what I put in.

Thanks again Dknight for the music pack (It works quite well now). The alternative graphics are nice as well but I personally prefer the Blue Marble terrain graphics. I think both packs should continue to be add-on rather than being incorporated into the main mod. The music pack is large so it is better to give people with slow internet connection a choice whether to download it or not. The graphics depend on taste so some would prefer to add their own favorite terrain graphics. You may consider starting a thread for these add-ons in the mod's sub-forum so they are better noticed by new comers to the mod.

Thanks!

Looks excellent (except for the small lettertype HoTK text top right). BTW, are there any plans to include the music pack as a standard feature? It would add still more flavour, I think.

With the latest version + patch + music turns hang forever some times for me; attached is a save where it consistently happens.

Haven't seen your save file. But if your problem is that the screen just shows "waiting for other players...." while never get to the next turn, then I think all you need to do is just loading the autosave a few turns ago, and doing something different. This is a bug from the core game, and can be solved by this way.:p

Yeah that's what I've been doing. It's pretty annoying though since it happens every few turns, and every time in that particular save.

Didn't know it was a bug with the core game though since after god only knows how many hours playing Civ 4 and various mods this is the first time I've ever experienced it.

Sorry xxhe, but it is not a known issue of core BTS. There has to be something in the mod's code that causes an endless loop. The fact that reloading can get you through the game for some turns or even for a whole game (it happened with me), means that the scenario for the endless loop might be rare. Such case would be difficult to debug and it requires a save that is guaranteed to reproduce the problem. I hope someone can provide such save so the issue is squashed once and forever.

Oh, really? Didn't know that before, sorry for my mistake:crazyeye:

where did this start menu come from? I swear I have the latest version and patch installed and I've never seen this... just the same old start menu but now with blackish grey bg color instead of blue.

I can however see the new loading menu. strange.

@Shiggs713

In the graphic option choose 'Beyond the Sword' instead of 'BTS Classical', you'll see it. In the next patch this problem will be gone.

I found a looping bug with the music pack where the general music kept looping on one song. So I attached the fix. I also included minor changes to the music.

Only download this if you've already downloaded the music pack.

For anyone who hasn't downloaded the music pack yet, the already fixed version is in the following link and doesn't require the patch
