[BTS Total Mod] Thomas' War

We've stopped our last game when I realised that 400k is virtually impossible. :D
It went pretty well, I had good terrain to start with and finally managed to defeat the Korean next to me who had built about 90% of all World Wonders (more than 10 in his capital alone...), but I was still stuck at 5k gold. Even in Renaissance the cap was 25g per round. If I had dropped the research slider to 0% I would have made about 250g per round, up to a potential maximum of maybe 500g after building infrastructure in my newly conquered lands. I was playing Gustav Adolph, Riksbanken for the win! So in a singleplayer game it could have worked, but in MP, no way. Domination would have been a lot faster.

A word on Suzerainty: I like it a lot, and I often use it as soon as it becomes available. However, with the cap at 25g it cannot compete with Bureaucracy. So after Civil Service Suerainty seems kind of useless.

My suggestion: increase the Suerainty cap significantly and decrease the amount needed for Commercial Victory significantly. I might just try to implement it myself and run a test game with 300k needed and Suzerainty cap at 50g Medieval, 100g Renaissance, 200g, 400g, etc.

And thanks for the patch! Commercial Victory should be fun when balanced and I like your UB/UU changes!

Oh, and another suggestion: All those things that arent in the Civilopedia should be added, maybe in an entry in the concepts section. The wonder production bonuses for the traits and the caps. Call it "ATTENTION: things that are not in the Civilopedia" or something. That would really help a lot! :D

How about corporations? They have the potential to make a huge amount of gold especially in combination with Wall Street. Part of the problem is that there were so many factors to consider, I didn't know what to shoot for. I feared 400K was too high (for multi-player at least, it's probably possible for single player). Just need more play testing to get it right.

What if the Assets folder already contains a DLL? (Like with MOO2Civ I incorporated Kael's Assimilation mod by putting Kael's DLL in the Assets folder.) Do you know?

If you are already using a DLL it's the same problem you'd normally face when combining mods with two DLLs. You need to get the SDK source changes (which the modder's usually include with the new DLL download) and then compile a composite DLL. This can be annoying, however it's possible someone already did the work. I know a few mod DLL's have the Better BTS AI source code merged in so asking on the forums might help there. If not, codeblocks is a good C++ editor / compiler. If the Better BTS AI source code is labeled well, it's not too tedious to copy and paste the new entries to compile a new one.

All you need to do is take the Better BTS AI DLL and place it in the Assets folder, you don't need to merge any python or text files (as the changes in the Thomas' War files already cover the changes made in the Better BTS AI mod python / text).

my guess is by DLL you mean the only .dll file it has in its folder...

Yeah, SP is different. It should be possible with a religion capital and corporations. In MP this wont work. I did found a religion and spread it to many, many cities. Corporations wont help here though, because the game is usually decided when we reach the first techs that grant access to corps. Either someone can already say something like "not more than 90 turns to cultural victory" or has a huge tech lead and will easily conquer enough land and people within 100 turns.
Maybe it's like space victory: nice for SP, but impossible in MP. That's not your fault, of course, Firaxis is to blame. :D

On purpose I'm leaving Thomas' War without a modified DLL. However, all you have to do to include Better BTS AI in the mod is to download the Better BTS AI mod and move it's DLL file (found in the Assets folder) to the same place in Thomas' War (Assets folder). I
I've looked through the python and text changes of Better BTS AI and Thomas' War already either includes them or they are not necessary., so it's only a matter of moving the DLL which is easy enough to do.

Yes, in Better BTS AI there should be only one .dll file in the assets folder (CvGameCoreDLL.dll) just move that to the same place in Thomas' War.

Actually, I meant to post the actual file itself, i.e. zip and upload it with the attachment feature (the paper clip icon) when you are posting. I can't really do much with it in the thread (especially without its formatting).

Okay, thanks, I got them.

First can you try something for me. I want to test your custom assets folders. So I want you to put a copy of CvUtil in it's custom folder (the default directory should be something like this):

My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword/Custom Assets/Python

Then put a copy CvAppInterface in

My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword/Custom Assets/Python/entrypoints

and see if that changes the error message for the game.
 
Ok i done it how you told me but no effect. then i do next thing, copy thos two files directly to your mod on my comp, in adecvat folders, ther were no such files in them becose it didnt ask me if i want to overwrite exsisiting files. i didint get out the game i used the win butun on my keybord, i enter the game and the interface was there. when i start the game it shows me the piton exception, then i press win key and go on desktop then i pres the icon on my taskbar and enter the game and the interface is there.

Hmm, that's interesting. If it's switching that readily there may not be a permanent fix as it's probably an interaction between your installation folders.

Is it playable like that? Starting a game, minimizing, going back in.
 
no it just for the first time when you enter the game. affter thet interface is alwaxs there, but truli tom its huge mod, i strted the game on huge hemisphere map with 18. civ, and meybe after i think 100 turns, the turn had started to be quite long and i have 2gb of memory on my pc. congretulation on this mod ik didint have qvite time to play it but i think ill enjoy it. excelent mod bro

As a rule, for most big mods you shouldn't really play Huge Map and max number of civs. The mods are so big you should lower your map size and number of rivals.

Is your BTS patched to at least version 3.13 or 3.17? (As usually thats the error message that results when it's not).

Also, with Vista try running civ as an administrator.
