Turns out it just me being stupid and putting the files in the wrong folder. It works fine now. Not sure what exactly caused this problem, but it's resolved now that the files are where they belong. Thanks for the prompt responses, Leoreth. I really appreciate your help on this.
Yeah, I often get that issue if I put it in .../Beyond The Swords/Mods/...
It seems to have an issue with the fact there's already a RFC Dawn of Civilization folder in the Mods folder.
Unfortunately you can't see the cursor in these screenshots, so I'll have to describe its position:
In all three screenshots the cursor is on the tech bar.
In the first screenshot it is to the left of the text "Crop Rotation", in the second it is on it, and in the third it's to the right.
If you pay attention to the tooltip that's for some reason in the bottom left, you might notice that only if you hover the cursor directly over the name of the tech you are researching you actually get information about that tech, while if you put the cursor anywhere else on the tech bar you get a tool tip for the last tech you researched instead.
I did not provide a save because this has happened whenever I tried it across different games, civs and scenarios, and should be easily replicable.
I tried playing as China to test its UP and found a rather odd event: Islam got founded in Greek Babylon in the 1st century AD, shortly after founding Orthodoxy.
Could it be because they used their UP to research faster?
While it seems the crashes when trying to exit to the main menu have stopped, I now always get a crash when trying to end the turn in the savegame I attached, no reason given and no Python exceptions, it just crashes to Desktop just like that.
Oh, I figured this was the easiest solution should I decide to also keep up with the development version in the future. Various versions of this mod and my modmod of it make up about a third of my modfolder, I'm not sure how else I should keep track of them all.
