Bug Reports and Technical Issues

Alright, here are the saves, I doubt you'll need the autosaves but you never know. I have a few earlier still if you end up needing them though!

What they are:

DoC China Crash Backup: Very beginning of the January 1956 turn, but after the initial building and diplomacy that starts the turn is finished.
DoC (China): End of the turn, at least with what I did in the turn.*
AutoSave_AD-1956-January Turn 1296: Basically the same as the crash backup but before the building and such.
I don't think I need to describe the other autosave lol

*If what I did in the turn matters with regard to figuring out the bug or whatever, it was:
- Made a deal with Stalin, I give him 1 coal per turn and he gives me 30 gold per turn.
- Got Hungary to gift me their world map.
- Traded the Dutch world map for 5 gold
- Bombarded Delhi's defenses and attacked them with planes
- Some worker orders

@ThreeBlackSevens, Leoreth won't help you with this one. I also doubt anyone will.
If I understood correctly you are playing @1SDAN's DoC Civilization's Reborn. That mod was not created by Leoreth and it is not under development anymore, also that mod is full of bugs so no surprise you got one.

Nope, I’m quite sure that’s not what I’m playing, though it might be an old version now that I think about it, if there has been a recent update. It’s DoC 1.16, or the one that added the Turks as a playable civ if that is the wrong number.

First of all you said you made Hungary give you their World Map. Hungary never existed in DoC.
Secondly I'm also playing 1.16 and it is very normal that the Turks are a playable civ.

Ah, should have been more clear I suppose. I'm referring to The Holy Roman Empire/Austria Hungary/Austria/Kingdom of Hungary, the latter of which it is now.

And yeah, Turks are a playable civ on 1.16, that's normal. It's the main thing I remember being added in that update. However, I'm checking now to see if I'm on perhaps an earlier version of 1.16 than the current one. c:

Oh! I understand!
Anyway I installed DoC around the middle of July and haven't updated since.
Well then I have no idea what could be causing the problem, probably Leoreth might at least have an idea as to what is causing this.
Well of to bed I go, good night from my time zone!

Okay, noted. Still can you confirm which version of DoC you are playing on? At least it is not the git version, correct?

Yes, it’s not the git version. It’s definitely 1.16 at least, as the Turks are playable. My last Install file for the mod is from November 1 2019, though it’s possible that I downloaded it later and then deleted it if that is too early for 1.16. Is there a way to for sure tell what version it is? I thought it was on the bottom right of the menu screen but it seems I was wrong.

No, it's not easily possible to see the minor version difference. That information is enough for me to open the save though I think. Thanks for reporting.

Hello all !
I want to play this game again, have Civ 1.74 and Bts 3.19 installed, thus, I keep having error messages when I try to install DoC, starting during the greatmerchant ancient installation (if I skip the file other messages appears)
What did I do wrong ?
thx
Max

Hey, this is an issue that sometimes arises when file names are too long. The installer tries to put the files into your install location, but if the total path exceeds (I think) 128 characters you get an error because that is the limit for how long a Windows file name can be.

This only affects some art assets for Varietas Delectat. So the easiest thing you can do is to just skip this error. The game should work without issues, except that one specific unit model or one specific civilisation may be missing (pink blob ingame), maybe something you might never notice.

You can also address this on your side by installing Civ4 under a different path that has shorter directory names (the double "Sid Meiers Civilization IV Complete Edition" makes it very long). I don't know if this is possible, because some software distributors leave little control over this to you, but it's worth the attempt. If that's an option, the error should disappear when installing DoC again provided you cut the path short enough.

I tried to shorten file names as much as possible earlier, but it is hard to anticipate which length will be a problem for different people, and to actually find those files because Varietas Delectat comes with hundreds of unit art files. But I will look at that specific file again and try to find other files of similar length and cut their name short, if possible.

TLDR: this isn't a big problem and the game should work fine if you skip, you may only miss some graphics.

Thanks for answering
the problem is the application creates this path (specifically the "Sid Meiers Civilization IV Complete Edition") :

my folder where my game is is named "Civ 4" and when I try to install DoC, it automatically creates a long path with "Sid Meiers Civilization IV Complete Edition" 2 times I can t choose the good path with a shorter name

Oh, is that not the path your game is actually installed under?

exactly !
it creates another path force-named Sid Meiers Civilization IV Complete Edition" in my D disk

Ok I found a solution I just went in the setting and eliminated the rest of previous trials, the reinstalled DoC (and restarted the computer) then I could choose the path, and it worked
thank you ! wonderful mod

Great! The installer tries to find the location of the base game, sometimes that doesn't work. You should always be able to choose the correct location manually in the process though.

It seems that vassals are not counted in UHV's that ask for you to conquer a specific amount of the world. Is this somehow a bug?

No. If vassals are included in a UHV goal, it will explicitly say so.

Got a weird one here, two of my cities were building castles as I researched the tech that obsoletes them, instead of being removed from the construction queue, they remain there and generate free money every turn. I'm currently getting 25 gold a turn for free, not that I'm complaining :P

Is the save from before you research the tech?
