Bug Reports and Technical Issues

Hi there! I'm relatively new here, only lurking for the most part, but I have recently encountered an issue with v1.12, and I figured this was the place to post about it.

The issue I run into is a crash to desktop that occurs around late 1400 AD. (the attachment is a save just before the turn that crashes) I've seen the problem while playing other civilizations as well.

I'm reinstalling at the moment, but do you have any insight into the issue, or is it just a weird bug on my end?

Welcome to DoC to you too!

There were a couple of crashes in 1.12 that I had to fix during the development process of 1.13. It sounds like your crash takes place during an AI turn. These crashes are really hard to track down through the code, and verifying if that is a bug I have already fixed is basically as much work as fixing it in the first place. So I hope you understand that I won't invest that time again for a bug that might already be fixed.

Of course - no problem. I used to worked on a few applications in C# and I understand the pain of a crash to desktop. :crazyeye:

Yeah, exactly. And AI turn crash basically means that everything is a possible cause.

I've recently got back into playing DoC, but now I face constant crashes every now and then. The crashes oftentimes happen after the first turn, usually by the second. The longest I've went through without crashing is probably 7ish turns. It doesn't crash into desktop or anything, it simply froze and had its audio repeating, it happens for all starts.

I've tried everything up to the point I deleted the game entirely and re-installed them to no avail.

This sounds like a problem I've encountered myself too..
However if I use the 'Windows key' to go back to desktop and then go back to the game it proceeds more or less
The problem is seems to be involved with the Leaderheads imo (game seems to freeze, music on repeat and the animation of the LH keeps 'nodding' / seems like the game gets stuck in some kind of loop)
I get it either in the starting screen when choosing a civ, or in the game when certain civs contact me (which can happen on turn 1)
In case of it happening during the game I sometimes have to repeat the switch to desktop/game procedure a few times until i can end the diplomacy (1 switch to desktop/back to game = 1 possible mouse click)
I've only tried the switch to desktop 'fix' in the game, not in the menu where you pick the civ you want to play
And furthermore this issue happens a lot(always?) when i see the chinese leaderhead, but not exclusively

Can anyone with this issue possibly confirm some of my observations?

Do you still have a save where I can reproduce this from? The code suggests everything is fine.

Yes, when i have time I'll find it and post it.

How is religion spread percentage calculated? Say there's a total of 100 population in all cities on the world, then what is the Catholicism believer percentage if:

1. 20 believe in Catholicism. No believers of other religions.
2. 20 believe in both Catholicism and Islam.
3. 20 believe in Catholicism, and the other 80 each believes in a single religion other than Catholicism.
4. 20 believe in Catholicism, and all believe in all other 8 religions.

I believe it's 20% in either of these scenarios. But I can inspect the code for details.

OK, I've found out the answer through WB. The answer to each of the questions above is:

1. 20%
2. 10%
3. 20%
4. 2.2%(20%/9)

You can see it is so that the percentages of all religions add up to 100%(assuming all cities are religious).

Hello,
I just found out about this mod and it looked amazing! but after downloading and installing the mod and then loading it in the game I encountered a problem: the single player manu dosnt show me any RFC senerios to play. what should I do?

Tanks in advance!

Might sound stupid, but when I first installed the game I didn't realise I was short a BtS patch, one that the automatic patch finder thingy wasn't picking up on. Make sure BtS is fully updated. It doesn't work without it!

I wouldn't expect that to be the reason for that specific behavior, but it doesn't hurt to try. You need BtS 3.19.

Thanks.

Leoreth, this strange cultural border bug(notice the mined hill and to a lesser extent the city ruins) happened in my Greece game. Similarly I wasn't able to culturally control a formerly independent-controlled rainforest tobacco island tile in my Portugal game. Can you fix this bug?

That seems to be related to city razing, apparently. Do you have a save from before defeating the Persians?

Turkey should recieve a severe territorial crisis somehow in industrial age and collapse to core. Letting Greece, Arabia, Egypt and I propose Iraq too to spawn.

Cannot build forest preserve in rainforest. Does it require biology?
