Bug Reports and Technical Issues

Okay, I've found the problem. Github apparently uses Linux end of line encoding by default, which seems to cause problems when the game tries to read them in Windows. No idea why only one scenario is affected though.

Since we speak about encoding I have a small encoding problem in my games even in vanilla [civ4]. It affects only city and leader names. For example instead of Béla, I can see Bυla. Instead of Königsberg I see Kεnigsberg. Is there something it can be done?

I don't think so. Civ4 uses the Windows-1252 for its character set. I assume your OS is in Greek, which means its equivalent is probably Windows-1253. The English version of Civ4 is apparently not designed to run on an OS with another character set, so it just directly maps to whatever is in the place of the character in 1252.

Can you be more specific? It might be obvious when I open the save but it's still better to have a general idea of what the problem is beforehand.

All civs including neutals and barbarians have cheap technology - 1-2 turn for one tech! The same situations with production and great people's points:)
When I start my game as England - neutrals already have tanks and modern fleet:)
I failed histiorical goal about MODERNIZATION in 2000 BC:)))
Also I start only with one catapulta in Arctic continent
The End:)

Okay, I will look into it.

When ever i try to run DoC from the desktop shortcut I get the message "Mods\RFC Dawn of Civilization \ is an invalid mod directory, ignoring" and the vanilla BtS start screen. I can then load the mod regularly.

Including the whitespace? When you open the properties for the shortcut, can you make sure if the target entry contains a whitespace at the end?

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\RFC Dawn of Civilization

This how it appears in the target entry. Also forgive my ignorance but does whitespace mean an empty space at the end? If so then no it doesn't have that.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Strange. Have you played other mods that come with a desktop shortcut?

Great. I need to keep this in mind because it's apparently often the reason for issues for Steam players.

I think that the new dynamic names aren't working quite right.

What is not working? I can't see anything strange in the screenshot.

Special vassal names are only applied when it's a capitulated vassal.

It's like this for a viking playthrough as well, so... How do I fix it?

Reinstall Civ4 somewhere that's not Program Files. Or run it as administrator, something like that should work too.
