Bug Reports and Technical Issues

Yes. The mod is started using Play Now. Don't worry about the file formats.

In a recent Austria (Germany) playthrough I could not release cities to form an independent Greece or Italy. Is this due to the new slot system in the new git version? In the previous version I could release Athens and Istanbul to respawn Greece for the UHV.

It's possible, but there might also be other reasons. Can you upload a save?

Can you elaborate what exactly you mean by that? If you pick a later leader at the beginning of the game, is it being reset?

If I pick a later leader, the game refers to me as the first leader (saves also reflect the name). In practice the game chooses the first leader.

Apologies if this is obvious but how do I change the autosave frequency? After I switched to 1.16.5 it went to autosaving every 4 turns instead of every turn.

In your BeyondtheSword directory there should be a file named Civ4Config or something like that. It contains a setting for the autosave frequency and number of autosaves to keep.

It looks like slots keep their expansion zones after their collapse and when the slot gets assigned to new civ they get previous expansion areas. In first save Mongol expansion zone is still active in 1800s and gets reassigned to Canada on next turn.

Sometimes when reloading a save congress timer seems to get confused. In the second save there was originally a post-war congress on the next turn. On reload there is also a normal congress, causing two congresses to be held simultaneously.

Yes, this is a known issue. You're right that it is due to slots being reused: the game will use colours from the last civilization to occupy a slot when displaying the timelapse for a previous civilization occupying the slot. I haven't gotten around to fixing that yet, because as you say it does not influence the game itself.

Absolutely not sure if this is any kind of bug or intended, but often when I start a new game I get a catapult. About 10 tiles from the starting location. Not sure if it was there and flipped (it is always a catapult which is weird), or if it is a bug. I had it as Mali and Indonesia recently (multiple times). Any ideas?

On which version is that?

Playing as Colombia, the Mexicans had a respawn from under me. Except their revolution wasn't too organized or something, because they came back as independent cities. The Event Log said that the Mexican civilization was destroyed right next to saying that they declared independence. The attached save is from the turn before.

It is 1350 when Ottoman had conquered Constantinople and made it new capital. In next turn, Ottoman will conquer Naissus in Balkans and their capital will automatically move to Ankara again.
I assume it's because all national wonders will be destroyed upon city capture. When capturing Constantinople, Ottoman will immediately be granted a palace in it (relocateCapital in RFCUtils.py). In next turn, Constantinople is still in anarchy so the new palace is destroyed. Since there exists no palace at all, the system will automatically assign a new palace for Ottomans, which is the first-ID-city Ankara.

Thanks for uploading this, I have seen a few examples were a civ lost their palace in the capital and I never managed to find out why.

I sometimes like to change my leader's name as time progresses, kind of the same way that the AI leaders change. However I've noticed my leader name sometimes tends to reset back to the original default name. As I don't always see my leader name displayed it's not easy to spot when it occurs. So I wanted to ask if there are any instances you're aware of that would cause it or is it a bug? If it's the latter, I can try and see my saves if I can notice any specific turns the leader name reset takes place.

It might happen as part of the dynamic leader change system. I will have a look because I don't think there is any harm in disabling it for the active player.
