Bug Reports

I've never seen the AI attack an indepedent state, even when it has archers and the AI has cavalry and cannons.

i've looked into soma's save, but can't find the reason of this. It isn related to any change of mine

Well, well, it seems that it was a TEMPORARY bug,
as now I have all the horses valid.

Rhye, can it be related to the fact that my horse in North Africa was "destroyed" in a war? If I remember well, the anomaly happened after that...

Rhye, in 1940, I see 4 settlers, 3 muskets and 1 lngbowman of Carthage
standing idle on the Canary Islands (1-tile island SW of Spain)

EDIT:

Also, a few turns later there is a cngress in which there is confusion, after the frst 1-2 "asking", comes a result that is NOT form this congress but from a previous one, and after this all askings are followed with a result not of this one but one preceding this in order...

I have the save of 1940...

You seem to have kind of strange bugs, V.Soma... Are you sure you don't have any CustomAssets triggered? Maybe that is the reason of your problems.

I had the same "bug" last night. For me I had control of the horse in Spain and in North Africa. I traded my extra horse to my Vassal. When I had the horse in NA pillaged then I could not build my Conquistadors. I eventually figured it out but for several turns I thought the horse in Spain was not working correctly. Did you trade the extra horse to someone? If so when you lose your second horse you are then trading your only horse resource away unless you go cancel the deal.

Yes, this happens. But it's not a bug of any class. The situation is that if you have two resources, you trade the extra, and one is pillaged, it is automatically assigned to the one you own, not the one you trade.

Rhye, do you think that for this situation can be popped up a message asking you to cancel the deal (having a small diplo malus as "You betrayed our trade agreement") or to mantain it (losing the resource you own)? If it's not possible, then the deal could be canceled automatically (with the proper diplo hit I mentioned).

As I said, it is not exactly a bug, and it is not something wrong from your mod, but I was guessing that this small feature will make people (human players) to care a little more about their resources. I know that the AI currently protects their strategic resources with units, but this will make frictions between civs a little more common, thanks to nasty barbs that happen to stand in the way.

Not exactly a bug, but a city name problem.
I noticed a problem whit a city name in one of the caribean islands in RFCW.

I don´t think that -1 should be there.

you can change the name of the civ and leaders name in the menu. Also, is funny to see in that picture that Arabia is christian

I would like to confirm that I have never seen the AI attack the Independents. For example, last night I saw Mongolia collapse China. And, because I was investigating this, I popped open the WB. The city of Hangzhou had become independent and had no defenders (the defenders had been assigned to the other Independent Faction, and hence sent out of the borders... which happens most/all of the time I've seen). Even though the city was defenseless and the Mongols would easily have taken it in 3 turns had the Chinese not collapsed, the city remained independent (until I set them to war manually in the WB. Then they razed it. Dumb AI).

Same thing happened when Rome collapsed: Mediolanum, Roma, and Paestum remained independent, exerting cultural dominance over all Italy and producing Great Leaders, from the Roman collapse after Germany spawned until around 1600, when I manually set Europe to war with them, at which point they promptly and effortlessly defeated the Independent Archers and Warriors.

So.. as to why, I don't know. But I have never seen the AI declare war on an Independent. And former defenders tend to be set to the other Indy faction than the city itself, following a collapse. Although that may be intentional.

Just wanted to confirm that I've noticed the same behaviour.

i'm trying to change this in next version.
I'll need your reports to see if the situation has improved

Rhye, here is an issue with Spain.

Civ4ScreenShot0021.JPG

As you can see, the AI is not using the space correctly. The southern and eastern cities were mine, and I gave them to Isa. Then she found the northern city, and nothing more. For some reason she doesn´t want to place cities near the ones she obtained from me. Maybe a solution would be to do what you did with France: Place some barbarian cities in Spain, so that when she appears she uses them well, instead of having some random unoptimized Spain.

Also I think that the Agressive AI should be disabled. It is too random, even for the AI, as it declares war without having a decent war plan, or a war plan at all.

Okay. I guess the problem is human intervention ;) Personally I would put a barb city in Madrid´s place, just to make sure that even with a human player Spain won´t be nerfed.

That Madrid barb city can be called Mayrit, the previous name of Madrid, as independent Arab settlers named it. Otherwise, if you want to take a more ancient name, choose Carpetania. There wasn't any city with that name, but Romans gave that name to the area inhabited by some tribes settled on there, the Carpetanian. The Roman name if conquered should be Complutum.

The history lesson ends here ;) .

Okay, something is screwy with the independence feature. The Spanish, long time friends of me, the Incas, are now vassals of the Aztecs. After the Aztecs declared independence from Independent rule, both Independent rulers and Isabella (who owned one city that ws rewarded in Congress) agreed to become vassals. Now I'm stronger and have better relations, but the Spanish decide to become vassals to the Aztecs? Now I'm screwed because the Spanish will feed the Aztecs technologies and, eventually, the Aztecs will declare war on me, again. Good grief.

Sorry for the triple post, but I have one more problem with my game. Now it crashes every time after this saved turn.

Also, I'm a little concerned on how many civilizations are collapsing. At first, it was funa nd itneresting to see a world devided by two Independent civilizations. But now every prime civilization is destablizing.

Plus, Rhye, I don't mean to pester you, but you find the problem for this save, could you fix it? I really want to continue this game.
