Bug reports

I think they work, just don't appear to. I built them everywhere and soon seemed richer...
(sorry, i could have been clearer what i meant)

I have a glitch with one part of the graphics.

I did a clean install of 1.9.1b, then the 1.9.6 patch. When I start a game of Dune Wars, I find that the shaded squares around a settler unit slide out of alignment with the grid when I zoom in and out. This doesn't happen in vanilla Civ4. Any idea of what is wrong?

This problem has been there for all versions of Dune Wars since the very beginning. The way that DW displays terrain is to lower all terrain, and then raise up the mesa terrain type. Unfortunately the civ engine does not deal with this very well. So what you are seeing is like a "shadow" of the grid projected onto the terrain slightly below it. Vanilla, and most other mods, do not model terrain this way but it was the only way we could get the "sink" terrain behavior we need.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's good to know I'm not suffering from an install problem.

I have to say, I'm blown away by the mod. It's just incredible. The amount of time and attention you all have put into it really shows. (In fact, it's so filled with atmosphere that it's led me to go find a copy of the Dune Encyclopedia online and start reading through its hundreds of pages, just to feel up to speed before I play.)

I've encountered a minor bug with the options a few times now. After changing the options for custom game occasionally the "choose your religion" option will be activated in future games. I haven't been able to discern any specific option choice(s) that is cause this.

Odd.
I've never observed this.
Is it possible that you've played Civ without Dune Wars loaded before starting the new game? I think that playing something else could mess with your option preferences.

Looks like it's playing a custom game in The Ancient Mediterranean mod that's doing it. Sorry for the false alarm.

The game options of the last game you played are stored in the Civilization4.ini file as a simple string of 0s and 1s so the next game you play via Custom Game inherits them even if it is a completely different mod and any additional options past the standard set mean completely different things. This is particularly irritating with mods that do not show all of the standard options - like FFP does not show the Unrestricted Leaders option but if it was used in the previous game with some other mod (or none) then it will inherit the setting if you use the Custom Game type launch.

Starting a game via Play Now forces all options other than the few it asks you about to be the default settings for the mod, so launching a game like that and then existing without playing will clear all unusual/undesirable settings.

Unavoidable CTD in turn 387, attached savefile. CTD happens in AI turn.

Different difficulty, different map size, different faction, still a midgame CTD :(

Sorry, development is kinda intermittent these days ;). As I get time I'll take a look at those saves. What I need to know is is it the most current version of DuneWars, and what operating system and computer specs are you running it on. Finding the cause of a CTD like that is unfortunately typically difficult, if you can spot it at all, and a little time consuming, so bear with me ;)

Of course ;)

what operating system and computer specs are you running it on.
WinXP SP3, P4 2,8ghz, 1,25gb ram, NVidia GeForce FX5700 256mb.

But i play only with 9 civs and the last save is while playing on small map size, so it shouldn't be hardware problem.

Diplomatic victory seems to be not working for me. I am chairman of the Lansraad (aka the UN). When I was short of the population needed to vote myself victory (none of the AIs will vote for me) I could bring it up for a vote. Now I have enough population, but when it is time to propose items to vote on, diplomatic victory is not given as an option. If I look on the "members" page of the victory conditions advisor, it shows I have the required number of votes, but the number is in red.

Here's a save from one turn before a vote. Thanks for any help.

There's an error in the Civilopedia entry for Mahdi. The entry states that the religion cannot be founded by Corrino or Bene Tleilax, however Harkonnen is also forbidden.

Thanks.
I think that is due to a change in a patch that changed eligibility but didn't update the documentation. There are probably a number of similar documentation errors.

I just installed 1.9.1 then 1.9.7. When I encounter anyone, I have a blank diplomacy screen. What's up with that?

[EDIT]
Did some research: This happens on a clean install of just 1.9.1, but I can see diplomacy text when I play BTS afterwards. This is all on a clean install of steam's Civ4 and nothing besides Dune Wars.

I also cannot trade with anyone through CTRL + clicking, though I can declare war with ALT + clicking.

[2nd Edit]
Welp, I've tried giving it as clean of an install I can and still nothing... :/

I love this mod! Dune is my favorite sci-fi genre! Fantastic job to all the developers! :goodjob:
Unfortunately, I've started to encounter a CTD everytime I try to load the mod.
I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling the mod, but it still crashes.
I'm playing it on an older HP Pavilion with windows XP {since my windows 7 ASUS can't play Civ 4 for some reason}.
Any suggestions?

I have some vague recollection of this problem (from four years ago). Is it possible that you have any local mod files under your "my documents" directory? Some people install BUG GUI mods this way. Also, are you playing in english language? We have had the problem in the past that some strings do not get translated into one of the languages, so that the mod is mostly broken when playing in that language.
