Bz3 - Always War Crusade

Instead of building our city on the yellow or grey dot, I think maybe we should build cities on the red and blue dots. The iron will be in our territory between the two towns. The blue dot will be easier to defend than the green, yellow, or grey dots because Korea will have to attack us from across a river. The orange dot may be even better than the blue dot because they will not be able to attack us from the mountains.

Earp, your analysis looks good for placing two cities. We need to get that stuff hooked up, but there's no point in placing non-optimal cities.

New Destroyer - using a colony may be a viable way of getting the Iron hooked up a few turns earlier, but we still want to have cities out there. If all we do is build a road and stick a colony, ,it's not just the colony we have to defend but the whole road. Also, if we don't set up cities, the Koreans can just put cities on our dots and steal it from us. We can still put spears in the mountains to protect it from pillaging.

Ok. The analysis looks good. Let's get those cities.

@SAAM and Earp: If SAAM does not post a "got it" by today evening, Earp can you take it? (Deja vu! )

I can play this evening. Between this SG and the Viking SG, it looks like another GOTM that I am not going to be able to finish.

I'll wait 24 hours from the time NewDestroyer posted the save above before posting an 'I got it'. I think SAAM is around but just doesn't realize that he is up.

@BZ- It was SOOOO much easier in BZ2 when you refreshed the schedule in the post with your comments.

Yup. Thats what it is. I'll play later tonight

SAAM, I am keeping the roster updated in the first post, just like Bz2! I updated the first post with your status as "Playing Now" the moment ND finished his turns!

Am I missing anything?

@Earp: I almost guessed that's what your Avatar is going to be. :)

I do not know. One thing is that if we give it to them Japan and Korea will also get it. OTOH, if we forego we lose the one oppurtunity of trade that we get.

I would say go for it. Trade it. If Jap, or Korea or Mongol build the TGL there is a chance that we can grab it later.

I would have to agree. If we get the Great Library, then it isn't the right decision, but on the off chance we don't, we would really be kicking ourselves for not picking up those techs when we could.

wARNING: Poor RNG Luck Ahead

To Do: Switch Beijing to Settler
Reconnect horses
Grab Iron!! (Priority!!) Red and Orange dots
The Tardy Penguin grabs his helmet and runs to the battlefield. He's late. He has to fix somethings, get those darn Beaurocrats in Beijing to put down the shields.
T1: Tientsin: Spear->Archer
T2: Beijing: Settler->Settler. Canton:Spear->Spear. Nanking:Spear->Horse. Tsingtao:Spear->Horse. Hangchow:Rax->Spear. Tatung: Walls->Spear Macao: Spear->Spear
T3: Lit is discovered. Funding was lowered to 10% last turn and 18gpt was earned. Terrible news! Hangchow was captured by the evil Koreans. Sanghai: Spear->Horse. 4/4 Horse v 3/3 Archer. Wins, 2 damage. 4/4 Spear v 3/3 Spear. Grr.. dies.
T4: IBT, we loose 2 horses to Korean Archers.
T5: Grr!! We meet Mongols (some one sold comm to them). I buy a WM and CB off of them for Lit. I declare and we now see what the continet looks like. Beijing:Spear->Horse.
T6: That mountain Fortified Warrior is killed by an archer. Canton: Spear->Horse. Tientsin: Archer->Horse.
T7: Our horses are pillaged... again... :smoke: on my part. Ill send up a spear to guard them. Shanghai: Horse->Archer. Nanking- same. Chengdu: Spear->Archer. Anyang: Warrior->Spear. 4/4 Horse v 3/3 Spear. Retreats, redlined. 4/4 Spear v 2/3 Spear. Looses.
T8: 4/4 Archer v 4/4 Spear. Looses.
T9: Ibt: Horse dies, spear defends Tientisg. Beijing: Settler->Archer. Shantung:Walls->Spear. The city of RedDot founded on, well... the Red Dot. Starts Walls
T10: Not my best turns. The Koreans keep attacking any units I send their way and killing them. With the founding of RedDot and a settler headed for OrangeDot, we should be able to grab iron. GAH!! Hammi... Hopefully on another continent with 5 other people. Wait, thats 6. I buy Myst off of him for WM and 90g. A question dawned on me: Are we allowed to make then break GPT deals? We arent exactly being anyway honorable here. Just a though. War is declared. Shanghai riots.. my fault. Nanking: Archer->Archer. Japanese start GL.
End of turns here. Sorry about the sloppy playing. Horses should be back on line next turn. Try swapping the Vet Spear with an elite, for fishing purposes.

The Save

Ouch.

I've got it and will play tonight.

Per betazed's first post:

You must declare war on all opponents on the turn you make contact. You may acquire tech, contacts or map information prior to declaring war, but you must pay up front: no deals involving any kind of per-turn payments. You may never, ever make peace with any opponent. Until you control all of the earth or are wiped from the earth, there will always be war without end.

@SAAM: That was a :smoke: set of turns. I must say your war-mongering skills need a lot of improvement.

I was able to play ten turns last night picking up from Nd's save and forget about losing a city, I did not lose a single unit (maybe one but definitely not two).

Did you follow these rules?

(a) Almost Never attack with a horse unless the horse can get back to safety if he wins or if he loses and retreats

(b) Never let archers attack as far as possible. Always attack them

(c) Never attack unless you have to.

(d) If you attack with warrior from a fortified position (like a city or a hill) then never attack the last unit of a stack. If you do you are almost guaranteed to lose it irrespective of whether you win or lose that particular battle. (Think about it). The only exception to the rule is when the enemy is a lone enemy and has no companion around it.
