C2C SVN Changelog

Hello guys. As I now suppose I'm going to be editing civics, I would like some help with the SVN.
I know the basics of SVN, like how to update, how it works. But can someone please help me to get started with updating the SVN? Much appreciated. :D

You need me to add you to the list of contributors on sourceforge so that you have write access. Once that is done just edit files in your working copy, and when you are happy select SVN Committ rather than SVN update and it will push your changes back the other way (do an update first to ensure you have a sync'd state ideally or else the commit could fail due to clashes).

PM me with you sourceforge username so I can add you.

I was watching Tengul's Lets Play (and thanks to Hydro for the link in the Lets Play thread), and he using the SVN. Tengul noted & comments on the fact that the desert I promotion doesn't provide immunity from terrain damage.
Where was the terrain damage resistance moved to?
As a player, the damage resistance is about the only reason I would ever use the desert and tundra promotions. I don't think moving/removing them is a good idea.

My appologies if this is discussed somewhere earlier in this thread, if it has been I would appreciate a quick link or post # to start from, as I don't play SVN I don't follow this thread. Thank you.

Just pushed to SVN (3919):
  • Tidy up to end-turn hang protection
  • Tweak to settler escort requesting
  • Fix to civic evaluation to try to prevent oscillation due to interactions between civic categories as OR requirements on buildings

I believe it was because he was on Dune Terrain and not Desert terrain. Desert Combat I protects against desert and not Dune or Salt Flats. You need to get Desert Combat II for Dunes and Desert Combat III for Salt Flats immunity.

No, I'm refering to the actual hover text/explanation for Desert I. As of V26 it states that it protects you from damage. The hover text/explanation for Desert I in the SVN version he's playing doesn't say it provides any protection. In his Let's Play he didn't choose it because of this and seemed surprised; presumably remembering that it does protect.

Hopefully it's just another display issue.

That's because the the terrain still will do damage to units. Just not units with his terrain immunity promotions. I am not completely sure if you had the unit selected if it would now show damage. But either way it works on protecting you even if the terrain says damage.

Update:

-Removed Tribe national Unit limit.

Wait why? This kept civs from expending too quickly before Sedentary Lifestyle! The amount of time it takes to produce and settle keeps everyone in check from over expansion. Otherwise its just a Settler. Please make it a national unit again so you can only have one active at a time.

It was that way for a reason!

What he meant was that the promo description hover text of desert combat and cold combat doesn't inform the player of its terrain damage protection anymore.

Hence his friends reluctance on picking those promos, thinking it wouldn't protect him from terrain damage.

I've also noticed this change, guessing it disappeared by mistake, if not I strongly suggest you put it back.

Updates
- Put back Tribe as a National unit so it is different from a Settler.

Absolutely. Removing that (especially without a decent amount of discussion) is a terrible change. Otherwise we need to give tribes some other disadvantage over settlers, e.g. maybe they can only settle on a much more limited set of tiles, or only within a small distance from an existing city or something.

Anyway, I'm 100% with hydro on this one.

Well Terrain Damage setting is off by default. If you do not turn it back on between updating then it will be off (unless you save your user settings).

just a quick question here is there a way to save BUG settings? because as hydro just mentioned you lose them between svn updates and you also(at least I do) lose them when the game crashes.

OK, I accept this point. It's not that big of a deal anyways.

*sigh* Lets try this again.
I'm playing v26. The Lets Play game is SVN.
Both games have terrain damage on (but I would guess this doesn't matter in regards to the information provided by the text when hovering over the promotion when determining what promotion to select for your unit).

My (v26) game, Desert I promotion hover text indicates that it will protect my unit from desert damage. His (Lets Play SVN) game Desert I promotion hover text does not mention the terrain damage protection.

Q: With the SVN, does Desert I/II/III (and matching cold promotions) provide protection from terrain damage?

If yes, why isn't it (apparently) showing up in the hover text when choosing promotions?

If no, why was this feature of the promotion removed?
