C2C - Transhuman Era

The sounds wonderful. Well in late Transhuman there are the Nutraceutical Animals and Botanical Alchemy TECHS which represent designed animals and designed plants. You can put some Sagan 4 stuff in those techs if you want. When I get to that Tech I am going to leave the name of this designed animals and botanical as ???? when doing stats. Basically, this designed fuana and botanicals have special properties that make them more powerful than the fruits and fauna we have today. One of them is Ambrosia Apples, when eaten, the person gets a rush of good emotions, and fell godly.

Well Sagan 4 stuff (or other exobiology projects) would not be added until say Interstellar Colonization when civs are exploring and colonizing planets outside our solar system. So like mid Galactic Era.

Computer Animation Studio @ 3D Modeling
CGI Movie Studio @ 3D Modeling

These seem like the same thing.

Toy Store
Modern Stoy Store @ 3D Modeling

This is already under Plastics tech. And it just called Toy Store. Befor the modern version was a Toy Maker's Workshop which works as both the producer and retailer.

These seem like the same thing.
.

They may seem the same thing, but they are different industries.

Computer Animation creates polygon character and worlds with software. The art is all about design.
Computer animation encompasses a variety of techniques, the unifying factor being that the animation is created digitally on a computer. This animation takes less time to produce than previous traditional animation. 2D animation techniques tend to focus on image manipulation while 3D techniques usually build virtual worlds in which characters and objects move and interact. 3D animation can create images that seem real to the viewer.

2D animation figures are created and/or edited on the computer using 2D bitmap graphics or created and edited using 2D vector graphics. This includes automated computerized versions of traditional animation techniques such as interpolated morphing, onion skinning and interpolated rotoscoping. 2D animation has many applications, including analog computer animation, Flash animation and PowerPoint animation. Cinemagraphs are still photographs in the form of an animated GIF file of which part is animated.

D animation is digitally modeled and manipulated by an animator. The animator starts by creating an external 3D mesh to manipulate. A mesh is a geometric configuration that gives the visual appearance of form to a 3D object or 3D environment. The mesh may have many vertices which are the geometric points which make up the mesh; it is given an internal digital skeletal structure called an armature that can be used to control the mesh with weights. This process is called rigging and can be programmed for movement with keyframes.
Other techniques can be applied, such as mathematical functions (e.g., gravity, particle simulations), simulated fur or hair, and effects such as fire and water simulations. These techniques fall under the category of 3D dynamics.

CGI Movie Studios use motion capture, green screen chroma key, and visual FX to customize the digital film of a movie presentation. The art is all about media manipulation.

Computer-generated imagery (CGI) is the application of computer graphics to create or contribute to images in art, printed media, video games, films, television programs, commercials, and simulators. The visual scenes may be dynamic or static, and may be two-dimensional (2D), though the term "CGI" is most commonly used to refer to 3D computer graphics used for creating scenes or special effects in films and television.

They can also be used by a home user and edited together on programs such as Windows Movie Maker or iMovie. The term computer animation refers to dynamic CGI rendered as a movie. The term virtual world refers to agent-based, interactive environments. Computer graphics software is used to make computer-generated imagery for films, etc. Availability of CGI software and increased computer speeds have allowed individual artists and small companies to produce professional-grade films, games, and fine art from their home computers. This has brought about an Internet subculture with its own set of global celebrities, clichés, and technical vocabulary. The evolution of CGI lead to the emergence of virtual cinematography in early 2000s where runs of the simulated camera are not constricted by the laws of physics.

It could be argued that both of them have a symbiotic relationship with one another, and even if they are both to different industries, for game play purposes can be represented as one building.

I have a question, how well is Cusine, Food Science, Molecular gastronomy , Food chemistry, and Food engineering presented in Caveman 2 Cosmos? I see fruits and vegetables, but no types of restaurants or food cooking methods. The reason I am asking is because for Advanced Molecular Biology Genetic Biochemistry, there is going to be a Gastronomy lab. Even a Culinary Arts building?

Food chemistry – the molecular composition of food and the involvement of these molecules in chemical reactions

Food physical chemistry- the study of both physical and chemical interactions in foods in terms of physical and chemical principles applied to food systems, as well as the application of physicochemical techniques and instrumentation for the study and analysis of foods

Food engineering – the industrial processes used to manufacture food

Food microbiology – the positive and negative interactions between micro-organisms and foods

Food packaging – the study of how packaging is used to preserve food after it has been processed and contain it through distribution

Food safety – the causes, prevention and communication dealing with food-borne illness
Food technology – the technological aspects

Molecular gastronomy – the scientific investigation of processes in cooking, social and artistic gastronomical phenomena

New product development – the invention of new food products

@MrAzure

1. They are close enough. I merged them into a CGI Animation Studio to cover both Motion Capture and more traditional techniques using 3D meshed stuff. Because its only a matter of how you move the 3D figure, be it moving it like claymation or using motion capture. Or a mixture of both. And from personal experience taking art and game design classes for school much of those overlap is not worth 2 separate in game buildings.

2. I feel we could represent various Food techs but we don't want to get too crazy specific. I think something like a Culinary School would be good to add to the University.

Highway System
Currently covered by Mass Transit tech.

Food Engineering
This is a bit vague but the buildings you list either fall under Refrigeration or Consumerism techs.

Restaurant Chains
Again Refrigeration or Consumerism.

Global Gastronomy
Most health food stuff was put under Counterculture. Sports foods were under Modern Sports or Extreme Sports.

I am not saying I am against new techs its just I wanted to let you know where are current food buildings were.

On cooking:- Books specifically on cooking don't appear common until about 1000 AD in the west. Before (and after) that cooking recipes occur in other books with other subjects. These are called Miscellanies. One of my most popular dishes I do for people comes from a 13th century miscellany from Iceland. There are exceptions with a few Roman and Greek books mostly about cooking but even then they were from a philosophy or health perspective. Same goes for religious traditions about food preparation and restrictions ie they were more about health and safety pre refrigeration in hot climes.

So maybe change Cookbooks at Alphabet to something else eg Local Recipe. Books are more in line with Literature anyway.

I believe you are mistaken.

Mass Transit was 1920s, Highway System started in 1950s with Eisenhower.

Consumerism and department stores was 1920s.

What you listed was 1850-1930s, where people walked or took carriages too.

Refrigeration and Electronic Refrigeration happens several decades apart, like 60 years. Thet both caused a different food industry and supermarket boom, with electronic refergeration in the 1950s.

I am taking about the drive in, casual dining, and fine dining era that exploded after the Eisenhower Era and Electronic Refrigeration from 1950s til today.

Food Engineering is an actual science, how is it vague? That's like saying Biology is vague.

Why was it put under Counterculture, that was a social and musical movement.

Mass Transit was 1920s, Highway System started in 1950s with Eisenhower.

Well first there wa a bi debate when Vokarya redid the tech tree on where Mass Transit should be. It ended up being mid Industrial era which meaning most techs are around the 1890s.

Highways the building comes at Mass Transit (X62) but Expressway (Req Regulated Civic) is at Applied Economics (x67). Which places it in the 1940' or 1950's.

Note that the modern Era starts around 1950. But as in all things in history not ever civ gets things at the same time. So it ore of a rough approximation. And even then the player can choose to beeline or not. Thus neglecting some techs and getting others early.

Consumerism and department stores was 1920s.

Consumerism (X66) sits round 1930's to 1940's on the tree. So its about right.

What you listed was 1850-1930s, where people walked or took carriages too.

I am not sure what the point you were making. Are you saying it was too late? Cause refrigeration is at Refrigeration (X60) which sits it around the 1880's.

I am taking about the drive in, casual dining, and fine dining era that exploded after the Eisenhower Era and Electronic Refrigeration from 1950s til today.

Well I was thinking we should have a Franchises tech for quite some time. It could go around there and not be specific to foods. Note we also have Globalization around there so perhaps it could be the between tech.

Consumerism (x66)-> Franchises (x67) -> Globalization (x68)

Food Engineering is an actual science, how is it vague? That's like saying Biology is vague.

Biology IS vague. :p

Why was it put under Counterculture, that was a social and musical movement.

Basically the whole Hippies, Granola, Organic Heath Food Stores. Note that Counterculture ha been a big catch all for buildings that don't fit anywhere else.

I was wondering if this could be the new Guilds.

1. Yes. That was the idea. I have stated before that I wanted to have both Guilds and Franchises.

I have some Ideas for new Corporations, we can even have Non-Profits and Charities under that tech.

2. We have some already like a Philanthropic Organization, Foundation, etc.

4. I posted some tech for you to make in the tech thread.

@Hydro

Thank you that you don't adding all buildings but consider what is really needed.

http://www.futuretimeline.net/

I think this website might be good source of Transhuman building/civics/techs ideas.

For example there could be Matter Replicator as building.
It could give you all known resources.
Since its 2190 year prediction, I think it could be unlocked by very late (X = 100 - X = 105) Transhuman era.

Also I heard about Resource-based economy. It could have benefits of Green and Post-scarcity economies. I think it could be unlocked by Utopia Destiny tech.

Also there could be predictions for Events/Quests/Projects: 2060-2100 year is about stressed and rapidly changing world.
2200 year prediction is about approaching Technology Utopia.
After that MOST of pollution/disease/fire/crime and other bad properties should be non-existant and their "buildings" go obsolete.

@Hydro

Thank you that you don't adding all buildings but consider what is really needed.

No problem. This has always been the case, when I have picked what should be in the mod. There has been a lot on my lists over the years that get rejected.

Note that I encourage MrAzure to post any and all things he thinks should be in. This is good for brainstorming but may not be good in game. the other factor is how should it be express in game? Many things are either too minor or implied by other buildings/resources/units/promotions.

For instance I have have "Nail Maker" on my list for the longest time but still have not decided if that is too minor of a thing to include.

Nail maker sounds too minor to me. Beauty saloon is okay
