I was wondering at what speed would be a good pace to do a "Let's Play"...
The reason being is I am thinking of doing one for the GEM scenario....

Also, what would be a good civilization to play?
Probably not on of the island nations though as they are rather isolated from the mainland and therefore will not be incredibly interesting for a long while.

Don't do an island nation for a let's play (except maybe Australia!)

I don't think the speed really matters provided you are prepared top edit the videos so that you only show the interesting/strategically important turns

At work, I was kind of hankering a good game of Persia with its new starting location and resources...

I would definitely want to avoid Australia (not because I hate it, but because it would be devoid of conflict and interest for a very long time. Put enough effort in it already. XD)

Korea could be interesting but so would a game as Yangshao now.
Probably put it up to a vote or something with some of the suggestions. As for an African nation, I don't know why but I never really wanted to play in that area, other than say Egypt, but only as a passing interest.
I've always enjoyed the Middle East, Europe, and Asia looks more interesting now.
Japan would be okay for an island nation play-through as the Ainu would provide some challenge until you manage to get boats, conquer the unruly north and start settling the mainland.

Rome is always a fun nation to play as well, its classic, and probably imho, the easiest nation to play. Once you solve the production issue, the easily defensible position is easy to expand from. Only weakness is its lack of hunting.
