The holy grail is currently a unit under my control. however, it shows in red font in my list of units, and i cannot move it.

so, question stands -- do i need to have jerusalem before i am able to move it, or as a viking tribe, am I destined to just prevent others from moving it?

Sounds like there's others out there besides myself who needs a hint on seizing also. To seize any unit will do just must be active in same tile as treasure, a new icon will show up when its in same tile (cant remember the hotkey shortcut) but anyway its called 'seize treasure' which means he picks it up and its his to move with. speaking from my experience, in the conquests scenario age of discovery a unit would gain three exclamation marks by its name... example Knight!!! and that unit is carrying a treasure now. That unit can move or even be loaded into a transport ship. I'd suggest taking fast movement types (like knights or cav) but if you need a lot any old unit will do even a pikeman.

Hope this helps guys/gals.

QUESTION:

Playing on Middle Ages as Denmark. Captured Holy Grail from English. Holy Grail cannot move. Do I need to have possession of Jerusalem before the relics can be moved? Or, as Denmark, am I incapable of participating in the whole relic-race?

Relic units cannot move on their own. They must first be seized by a combat unit.

I haven't played this Conquest in the release version yet, but in the beta any civ could score the VP for returning a Relic to Jerusalem. Remember, though - you can't enter a city or victory point location occupied by another civ without combat.

I have anothe question. Are the couple of new units introduced in PTW (like gurilla) appear in Conquests regular game?

I have the english(European)version of CIV3.Can i install the American version of CONQUESTS or that sould be a problem? Please i need some enlightment!

Wow!

That's enough said right there. Battling against 18 different AI's, plus a reall cool unit tree (units varying from 1/1 and 2/1 moving up to all sorts of combos, 4/7 or 5/4/3 or 7/7/2.

I was afraid that it would be all combat and no infrastruture, but in fact, expansion is key, or you'll never get a large enough army to take out a rival civ.

I haven't played any of the others yet, but I'm really, really impressed with the Shogun.

kokoras I'm pretty sure you can't play the US verson of C3:C on your Euro machine. The coding is slightly different. think of it as Reigon 1 and 2 DVD's, they're both DVD's but they are slightly different in terms of coding.however fear not because a website I've got it preordered with has said that they now have the game in stock (a day early) so they might all have it if you want to book it online.

Thanks steviejay for the info, but i have already ordered it from a store in greece. It has been released one week ago!So i could not wait.Anyway they told me that i will not have any problem with the installation(dont know if they have the U.K or the U.S version,so i hope they are right!).

I have one doubt.
Some magazine mentioned that you can start a space race with a rival civilization. How does it work? How does that makes your citizens happy?

The magizine had errors (it said policemen rediced WW, and SPHQ reduced all unhappiness, when both reduce corruption).

Try starting the space race (build the spaceship parts for Alpha Centari) and see if people get any happier. My guess is the only change for C3C was that they pushed back some spaceship parts to further along on the tech tree.

I just got C3 Conquests. Does anyone know if I need to apply the vanilla civ or PTW patches?

I haven't played that one yet, but I beleive there are only certain units that can pick up items. Not sure which ones. In the editor there are options you can turn on and off for each unit. One of them is called 'capture'. I think that is the one that allows units to pick up items. I could be wrong about this though. If it isn't 'capture' it is one of the other items. Open up the senario in the editor and look at the units, see which ones have this option checked off. Look through the help screen while in the editor to find out exactly which item has to be checked off.

Actually I think that any unit can pick it up.

No, only units with the capture flag. Most any combat unit will have this flag set though.

I was just curious about the odds of getting Great Leaders...

Do battles against weaker units (ie. injured or obsolete) have a lower percentage chance of yielding an MGL than battles with stronger units?

The chance of getting an SGL starts at 5%, and goes up with every new tech you research first. Does anyone know how much the percentage increases with each tech? and do some techs increase the chance more than others?

I started an epic game with the Sumerians.
I noticed they chop down forests in 4 turns.:goodjob:
Is the base cost for forest chopping still 10 turns (for non-industrious and non-agricultural under depotism w/o rep. parts)?

Also, do I assume right that the Mayas are "state-of-the-art lumberjacks", because they'd get the industrious bonus on top of that (i.e. 3 turns/forest)?

edit: another q: clearing marsh lands has a base cost of 16 turns? (Or: do agricultural civs get a bonus there, so it was 16 for me, the Sumerians)?

No difference. So weaken them with bombardment or lesser units.

3% chance each time you are first to research a tech (5% for scientific civs). Where you got the idea that the probability goes up with successive first-researches, I have NO idea!

Yes, tree-chopping times have been reduced. Non-industrious/non-demo-or-facist, after Replacable Parts chops in 2 turns.
