C3C PBEM : "Cortez" - Age of Discovery scenario-based PBEM

Poor natives :(

It would be kind of neat if I could be the Aztecs instead in a beefed up version and release hell on earth for nations attempting a landing in my territory ;)

And with me being an Inca it would be even more fun :)

Wow, 2 crossposts while I edited mine! I was just asking what difficulty we should play. Anyway, if we have humans play the natives, it's not as big a problem, unless we then turn some of the Europeans over to AI!

Yeah, it would rock! Those barbarian invaders would never know what hit them! (methinks they would all scramble to the north and wander around in the freezing cold, looking for furs ;))

Whatcha say people? Can Random Fan and me be natives (in a beefed up version)? We'll need more players then though, and it will be extra important to have active players since there will be 7 or so of us..

Heh heh! :) Yep. I am the beefed-up Aztecs in the original AoD pbem run by Loulong. I am having lots of fun beating up the Portuguese right now. They dared to attack and autoraze one of my cities while I was in a total peace mode. 20 turns later I still have a horde of Jags, even after killing 3 of his knights, 2 of his M.I., and 3 of his Pikes and capturing a city of his in South America. I usually lose 3-4 Jags killing a Knight of his, but that is still a bargain for me as long as I am still in my Golden Age.
The only problem with the AI contolling some of the European powers is that they will not adhere to the "No wars in Europe" rule that most AoD pbems emplement.

P.S. Portuguese slaves work awfully slow, so I'll have to sacrifice them pretty soon, methinks!

Ha! Sounds like fun :D

Yes, we'll need to fill up the European powers with humans if we do this. So we will need 7 players.. really need to have reliable ones with that many or a turn will take forever.

What do you all say? Regular with native AI or Random Fan and me as natives?

OK with me, if we get enough players, but 7 will make it harder to maintain 1 per day, won't it? Of course, as Spain, I don't have any problem turning Portugal over to the AI... ;)

Maybe we can get RJ to step in as one of the players? He's quick, and also, that would continue the never-ending feud I have with him in the games I join.. somehow we always end up in unavoidable wars. :mischief: Need one more then..

I'm fine with just going with England and sticking with 5 players though, up to you guys. I'd definitely prefer a 5 player game that moves along well rather than a 7 player game that takes forever. Anyone who plays their turn quickly up to join?

O.K. I'll join. I'm always up for more bloodshed between Ironduck and me!
No civ preference. I am West Coast U.S.A (PDT - GMT-7). I can usually squeeze in my turns during the day also (besides the evening).

Great! I've played in several SG's with Rubberjello, a PBEM would be cool. B)
It certainly would make the natives more of a challenge. One question, what about these Treasures of Cebola? Can the natives recover them, and/or get VP's for them? Based on Middle Ages, I'd assume all civs can capture the treasures, is that correct? And does that make sense for the natives, or should they avoid them (they get worker sacrifices, after all). (Or maybe they could just set up ambushes nearby.... ) ;)

I'm not familiar with the scenario at all, but it would be nice if we natives have a fighting chance of actually winning the game..

Cannot wait to sacrifice some Jello workers though :D

Sounds like a hard job for the europeans. Can the natives build ships and capture the europe-mainlands?

Yes. But getting to the required techs takes a very long time. Especially if the European Powers institute a rule of no tech trading to them.

Geesh! Where were all you "Native" players 4 months ago? I wanted to start a Co-op pbem where the Natives would be played by all humans in a team mode against the AI Euros, with the ultimate goal of taking over Europe. I had no takers, and the thread died. :(

I had another thought this morning, seeing as no one is signed up for France anyway, maybe let France be played by AI. Still a rule against any Humans fighting on the continent (against France, or each other), but obviously an AI France could attack the humans. It would at least force everyone to be honest, and keep some defenses at home. But that may be getting too far from the intent of the scenario, I don't know.

Sorry for the delay. Quite busy with my scenario right now. Will launch it tomorrow or the day after.
If you cannot wait, I guess you can find a replacement and I would send the file to the starter.
Overall I am against having more than 1 human for the natives as that would slow the game and speed was one of the aims of that game.

If I launch it, I think I will keep RJ's tribe secret.... lol

I could control Iroqius in this game as well, since they are pretty far away from Inca. This way all native civ would be controled by humans

???? I thought some other folks wanted to play the "natives" in this one? Or did I totally misread this thread? It doesn't matter to me, but I don't want to disenfranchise anyone else.

Sorry! The first post still listed France as vacant, I missed that.

I think Loulong's point was the others were already signed up as European powers, before asking to switch to natives. I do think we should confirm who wants to play which civ, before we move on. (I'm still happy with Spain, BTW). ;)

Hmm..

I can understand LouLong not wanting too many players in, so if he decides on that I say we just stick with the original setup and have AI be natives. But I think it is doable to make it a fast paced game if the players are committed and the order of turns is set up properly, then it should be a turn a day with the occassional miss.

I thought RJ was going to be a European country too, since that's what we were missing. Random and me can control the natives (completely or have the AI control some, either works for me).

I don't think having the AI control any European countries is a good idea since it will wage war in Europe.

So, either we play regularly and RJ takes the last European seat, or we play 'extended' with two humans controlling natives on top of the original setup (that being Random and me). Can people please confirm their times of play and ability to play a turn a day? And then shall we have a vote or let LouLong decide since it's his game? ;)
