C3C PBEM : "Remus" - Rise of Rome scenario

gps several hours ago

Persia makes no attacks, but does decide where to advance next, our stack also grows and to save the macedoniains from counting, it went from 160 units to 237. Persia questions the inability of Macedonia to leave the Scythians alone, why must they pick on those poor helpless people, is it really necessary to bring 49 Heavy Cavalry against them?

Thank you for the update. It is rather tedious and discouraging to have to scroll through the list of units to see how big it is. Although, I have heard that it is not the size of your stack that matters, it's how you use it. :D

well, since you are down 4 cities and I am up 2 i would say i have used it quite well

btw, portuga reports he has sent the turn to Chrisius

Lost one galley and sank one galley attacking the Persian fleet in the Black Sea.
Sank an elite Persian galley in the Mediterranean Sea but lost 4 galleys in the attack.
Lost a warrior attacking a Persian Heavy Cav. deep in Scythian territory but took him out with one of our Heavy Cav.
Attacked and captured the Scythian city of Halicarnassus. Lost 2 Heavy Cav. in the attack but the Scythian loses were 3 Spearmen, 6 Swordmen, 1 Archer and 1 Horseman.
We captured the city but are surrounded by enemies as you can see from the screenshot.
Macedonia is facing a major push by the Persians on all fronts. On land and sea.

having trouble playing turn, comp really really slow, i need to run my spyware, sorry guys, will play tomorrow night

to portuga

@ Shibe:
HC kills HC & captures Shibe

@Cyzicus
we put a dent in the hoplite blockade, bombarding 5 hoplites to redline then taking them out with 5 HC, no losses for persia, we then advance next to cyzicus

I am having problems with my computer. In addition, my personal situation does not allow me to get it fixed right now. Besides this, I am was about to lose my cable internet and was going to have to switch to dial up which would be a PBEM nightmare. On top of that, right now I just do not have any spare time, my wife is about to have surgery. I do not wish to stall or delay games while I sort this out, so I freely give my permission to seek temporary replacements for me until everything is sorted out and I can resume playing my turns, right now I cannot accurately say how long that will be. If there is a difficulty finding temporary replacements, then I will agree to be permanently replaced, but I do ask that first an attempt is made to find a temporary replacement. Unfortunately, with the sudden computer problems I am unable to help with finding replacements. I am sending my passwords and in game agreements to rubberjello in the hopes he will not be too upset in helping out in this area. I should be able to occassionally access another machine and get online, so if there are any questions pm or email me, but be patient because I do not know when I will be able to respond. Thank you for your patience.

I am willing to put this game on hold for now. Predesad and I are in the middle of some heavy battles and it would not feel right to have a temporary replacement take over.
I also believe that Chrisius Maximus has some heavy demands on his time right now.
Let me know how the rest of you feel.

Yes Im very busy with work for at least up to Easter, after then it should be better, I in fact have the save now but have had no time to play.

This is/has been one of the best PBEM games Ive ever been in and I would prefer to wait for Predesad to be able to rejoin us :)

thanks a lot guys, if you're going to wait on me keep sending the turn and I might get to occassionally play at another machine, i figure if i keep bugging my family to let me install civ on their computer someone will eventually cave, but even then very few playing opportunities.

Scythian Territory
Attacked and destroyed Scythian Forces ( 1 Swordman, 4 Spearmen, 3 Archers)
Also attacked Persian forces in the area. Destroyed 3 Mercenaries, lost 1 Heavy Cavalry.

Naval Battles
Lost 1 Galley in an attack on a Persian Galley in the Black Sea.

Cyzicus
Attacked the massive concentration of Persian forces around the city.
Destroyed 2 Persian Heavy Cavalry and 3 Persian Mercenaries. Lost 4 Heavy Cavalry and suffered numerous wounded units due to catapult fire.
It was decided to continue our scorched earth policy in the face overwhelming odds and Cyzicus was razed as our forces withdraw to defend Byzantium.

Although we have managed to control naval movement on the Mediterranean, the increased Persian naval activity in the Black Sea is causing us great concern.

i have a temporary solution to my problem, let's just hope it lasts until i am otherwise stable, turn sent to portuga

at the Scythian / Macedonian border:

5 HC kill 5 Macedonian HC

in Macedonians "scorched earth" area:

in an effort to remove Macedoniain prescence from lands which will be ours we bombarded every hoplite within reach plus one HC to 1 HP (24 FC hit there targets while 14 missed) then our HC moved in to kill off 9 Hoplites and 3 HC, while we experienced no losses, though some of our units were prolly hung out to dry. Two of our generals, capable of reaching some distant hoplites, joined in the battles with Achaemenes and Cyrus both killing one each. we recognize the scattering of hoplites as an effort to slow down our advance and thus allow Macedonia more time to fortify Byzantium, that is quite fine with us, after all our own forces grow.

In other news, a galley in the black sea spotted Roman Legionaries moving through Macedonian territory. They look as if they are passing through. It does not appear the Romans are attacking the Macedonians, but rather just travelling through the area along the roads at the coast. We wonder, is Rome on its way to challenge Persia??

I guess that means I should step up my forces in the Mediterranean.

well, my temporary playing solution is about to expire, maybe I will have everything worked out before I get the turn anyway, prolly good odds on that considering . . .

I emailed Chrisius Maximus a while ago and he replied that he was unable to play at the present time due work pressures. I have been waiting, hoping that we would eventually have everyone available again. I haven't given up on resuming this game yet.
