The Battle of Verdun: Part 1
Verdun
In an attempt to stall the advancing
French Armies, the
Spanish set up a blockade near the city of
Verdun. At the front of their defenses lay the
Spanish's secret weapon: the
Tercio. The
Tercio had never before been defeated by any army. The highest trained regiments in Europe, the
Tercios take an immense amount of time to train but once formed were thought invincible.
Henry of Navarre was determined to prevent the
Spanish from blocking his advance. He racked his brains and finally came up with a solution:
The Bombard. His many
captured bombards fired salvo after salvo at the enemy and finally the once proud
Tercio was reduced to a fraction of its original strength. That was when the famous
French Army charged the enemy. The
French Army is still around but the invincible
Spanish Tercio is feeding the hungry vultures.
The Remaining
Troops were killed easily by
Landsknecht and
Five
Additonal Bombards were captured.

Luxemberg
Verdun is the gateway to two important things:
St Quentin, the Capital of the
French League and the south half of the
Spanish Walloon Territories.
Henry of Navarre was eager to secure his advance against further
Spanish interference. With that in mind, he decided to take steps to block the
Spanish. He decided to take
Luxemberg from the
League to prevent the
Spanish from advancing again.
A
Reiter Regiment was prepared to fight the defenders of the city. To our surprise the city's gates lay open to us. It was undefended!
It is now defended, by us.
