C3C PBEM (Scenario) 'Christian Reconquista'

Oh, I forgot to mention, on the turn there was quite the battle among red pirate ships - some were chebecs anyway. I am not sure who has the other ships as they were circled in red too. Looks like the pirates won at any rate.

My treasury is at zero and I am at a deficit of 9 gold each turn even with my science is turned to zero. Do I have to disband units to get my budget balanced?

I've swapped research to Coastal Trading (6 turns), Archery seems pretty pointless (Archers are very expensive for their stats). Qummik, could France research the Crusades?

Spartaca, did you swap to Feudalism? Unit maintenance is a whopping 3 gold under that government. I've sent you 50 gold to help cover the deficit. We Christian kingdoms must band together!

Who are these Chebeck? I thought they were pirates. Three of their ships are traveling along my coast.

We lost a horseman and swordsman to the Muslims.

The Muslims have vanished around Santarem except for an Ansar Warrior. One of our swordsmen attacked and drove it back into Muslim territory.

Had to turn my sound off after a troubadour wouldn't stop strumming his lute!

Provence starts with Feudalism and there are no options to change to another government. Thanks for the gold though!

Semental, how many turns will it take you to research Coastal Trading? Maybe whoever is slower should just cut their research for gold.

Not a problem Spartaca. I'm happy to keep bankrolling you as it looks like the real science will be left to Luthor and Qummik! :science:

I've just realized that the game is on 'Regent level'... the plan was to be on 'Emperor' level... :(

I'm not very good at this 'modding' business!!! Does anyone know how to set the difficult level in scenario PBEM's?

.

Luthor,

I had a question about the tech tree. I think the idea of the scenario is that eventually the Christians can develop technology that will allow them to overcome the initial superiority of the Muslims. But Provence and some of the smaller Christian countries aren't allowed to build Crusaders and Conquistadors so I don't see any technology that will benefit them and allow them to take the fight to the Muslims. Was this intended?

Sorry for my really late intervention in this but modding Civ3 has been out of my mind since last summer... for personal reasons.... :-(

Anyway the tech-tree covers 3 ages and apart from the Crsuaders and Conquisators there are LOTS of units that can be built through research. For instane gunpowder units, medium and late knights, crossbowmen and militias, siege weapons so except if the file has been modded since I did it, the benefits definitely exist (check the two other ages as well !).

Loulong, I hope that you and all your kin are well and healthy.

If you do have the time, a PBEM biq of this scenario it would be great. I tried... twice... not very balanced... so will you make us happy?

BTW, the only changes I did in the scenario was to give Christian nations some units (and walls) to defend against the 'theoretical' horde coming up from the South...

Hey Lou - hope things are getting better for you! If you feel like playing a new pbem I'd like to join it as well :)

Btw, how quick is the turnaround going in this game then?

I've got the save, but I won't play it. Let's restart.

Ironduck, we were running at a turn each day or two. As Semental mentioned though, we were only about three turns in.

Thanks for the concern folks but actually it is not that, it is a mere (albeit strong) and selfish "little" love crash, that's all. I have started working on it again to release a rela PBEM version. I cannot spend a lot of time on it and you are probably in a hurry so it won't be the full-fledged revolution I wanted to do first but it will include most of the needed things (such as longer tech-tree for Muslims).
