Big plans for this turn!
Java
- A heavy bomber attacks Soerabaja, redlining the defending infantry.
- US Marines (8/12) attack the town and quickly overrun the defence. We're disappointed to see there are no Dutch citizens remaining and immediately put a curfew in place.
- US forces unload in Soerabaja and head toward Batavia. The 2nd infantry division clears an enemy militia force in the center of the island without loss, then establishes contact with the Commonwealth 1st infantry corp.
- Batavia is bombarded by two BBs, a BC, a CA, two DDs and three dive bombers, leaving the Japanese 15th corp at 11/17.
- The US 9th infantry corp leads the ground assault on Batavia, and (incredibly) takes only three damage (5/8) defeating 15th corp. The Japs must have been shell-shocked!
- The 3rd light armour corp follows up the attack against an SNLF, and defeats the defender after a tough fight (2/6).
- The 34th infantry division moves into Batavia after mopping up a Japanese artillery position (reduced to 2/4 in the process). Batavia, and with it Java, is now in Allied hands! Better yet, we see a Dutch citizen remains.
Borneo
- At Sarawak, two field artillery attack an IJN DD, doing two damage. A US BC sights an IJN invasion fleet and BB as it was moving in to attack an IJN BC. Two heavy bombers hit the IJN BB, doing three damage. A US DD attacks the invasion fleet, but is sunk doing no damage. The US BC continues its attack and sinks the IJN BC, taking one damage. A dive bomber attacks the IJN DD, doing another point of damage, leaving it redlined.
- Two CAs and a BB shell Ketapang, redlining the defender.
- US paratroopers attack Ketapang. One paratrooper unit is killed, before a second knocks out the defender and captures the town!
