After reading more and more about the MP modes in this game I can honestly say I am excited for it. If you guys get a chance check out the vid for Wager matches. It looks absolutly fun. I would put the vid up but I am at work and there is a block on Youtube. I have also read that they are trying to combat noobtubers also. I have never been a fan of Treyarch. But I think they maybe on to something here.

well in one of the wager match type everyone get 1 pistol with one bullet and your melee attack. When you kill someone you get your opponents bullet and top 3 wins all the money. That sounds fun. They do have a Counter Strick style mode with every kill you get a new tier weapon and whoever gets to the last tier wins.

That'd be gungame, and yeah from what they have said it looks like they did a good job with variety and actually allowing people customize their multiplayer experience without a bunch of user-mods or the honour system. However, the gameplay will probably be exactly the same as MW2 and I never thought it was good enough to be worth $30, little alone the $60 they want.

Whats the SP like? I have to admit the Cold War theme sounds like fun. Plus the springloaded knives.

I'm pretty impressed with Black Ops' depth. Has a lot of new features, contracts ,wager matches, zombie mode etc..
Campaign is pretty good too even though I've only played it for about an hour.
Cons. Well to me the graphics don't look as crisp in multiplayer as MW2. It might be me though my cousin says it looks exactly the same. I also miss the modern weapons but I guess that's the idea since it's supposed to be the era 1960 - 1980.

Can someone explain what wage matches are? I am not real clear on that.

well your gonna be able to earn money to buy weapons and stuff and in wage matches you can gamble with that money

The game is overall quite fun. Only problem is there is some bug on the PC version that causes absolutely horrid multiplayer lag at the moment. This is not an issue of crappy PCs trying to run the game at max, it's an issue essentially everyone is having regardless of the PC or graphics quality. :badcomp:

Once this is patched however, the game itself is alot of fun. Dedicated servers!!!!! :high5:

How are the maps? Have they finally improved upon the hamster-wheel like (okay, maybe an exaggerated simplicity, basically since CoD4 I felt like all you did was run around in circles and its only gotten worse).

Won't bet getting it but I hope Treyarch can improve in the areas they have control over (like maps, they have very little control in the gameplay mechanics as Activision probably wants them to remain the same like in MW2 etc).

Honestly I am very happy with the game. It is a complete blast playing MP. My 2 favorite weapons are the Flamethrower attachment and tomahawk. The customization is great. I feel more of an attachment to my online persona. I am lvl 24 soon to be 25. I have yet to play a wager match. I will play one after work.I will post some pics in a few.

Oh please do. I'm walking a fine thread between buying it or not.

Wait a month. The MP is laggy as hell right now, but that will get fixed. It would be an excellent game otherwise, at the moment, i'd say its above average

I haven't been following the news. I liked CoD4, but didn't buy MW2 or WaW because I heard they were awful. What's different about Black Ops? Is the single player as good as CoD4's?

If you're buying CoD games for the single player you're doing it wrong. Especially since they don't drop in price anymore. Black Ops' single player is ~6 hours long. About the same with MW2 I think. WaW wasn't bad, it was all right, but it could have been better.

does anyone else have this game for the Wii?

i cant play online every time i try it says "49 (or whatever) servers found. checking quality" and then my game freezes and i have to unplug my console

CoD used to be about the SP when MP was kind of lame. I'm guessing up to CoD3.
