Ah, too bad. Still points to a bad resource-management issue, then - perhaps the dx9 version just uses less of this resource, then, or more efficiently, making crashes more rare.
I had one other crash after I'd posted last night. It was during a pan, but I discounted it for two reasons: it was scrolling to an area that never exhibited the problem before, and recreating the sequence on reload did not reproduce the problem.
I'll try the tweak Tokala linked to, though I'll likely stay in DX9 if I can't find a way to fix the rest of the glitchy DX10 graphics.
