I would go along with Reno and say that by your opinions, that computer generated/rendered ones should be taken away along with anime avatars .

I am happy with my OS-tan avatars

Of course they do. And, those annoyed by them can could turn them off the same way smilies can be disabled.

The Avatars??!! Nah! Their annoying - and distracting. That this topic has been beaten to death is obvious.

Why not allow it, but keep the file size limit so theres not too much flashness that can be done?

You can make a lot of annoying flashs in a small file. For example; make the whole avatar flash between green, magenta and cyan. Aweful and distracting.
