I couldn't survive a night outdoors four hours north of Toronto without a lot of modern equipment. Good luck accomplishing anything for any reason in the frozen and swamped wasteland of Nunavut.

There's a very good reason Canadians live on the border of the United States. The country is mostly unconquered wilderness with big hungry roaming bears and you can bet Canadians are packing heat when they venture into it.

I think your overdramatizing this a bit. I've been to the lands of Canadia several times and just got back from a roadtrip to Yellowknife. Its not that bad, especially in the summer. Wild, hungry, roaming bears are few and far between.
