This is a little poll we've started over at the Tech support forum...

Oh, by the way, this is not a thread to discuss how stupid/sinful/immoral/ungodly I am to have a laptop without hardware TnL.
It's just a poll...

My HP zd7010us is plugging away just fine now.

1 CTD or maybe I should say it minimized itself, after 3 hours. But it came right back up!

I have Toshiba Satellite M30, and on a standard size map the game is quite smooth right through to the end, apart from wonder movies which stutter to the point of being unwatchable. On a large map, there was quite a big lag from the industrial age onwards, but when I lowered the resolution, it became manageable.

I had not experienced a single crash in the game.

Sure thing. I cannot however, play on my desktop...

I use a Dell XPS m170.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 with 512mb ram, Geforce4 Go, P4 1.8Ghz.

Last night I dl'ed the recommended video driver on the microsoft update website and I'm happy to report that most if not all the lag issues are gone. I still can't see anything except toast in the city view screen but at least now the game runs a little more smoothly. This is all on a standard sized map.

Can't play, still have the black screen and floating head problem. I've downloaded the latest drivers but can't seem to rid myself of this annoying problem. I have a sony vaio w/ that pesky little Radeon IGP 345m card that depending on who you talk to may or may not support this game.

can´t play- have black terrain or white terrain (when agp is off), and the toast only city screen, have not checked for other troubles (wonder movies etc.)

I have a 2.2 ghz CPU with a radeon mobility 7500

ps: to the other users: does the fog of war/texture problem disappear too at a certain zoom level?

Mine will play it awesomely.
eMachines 6810
Mobile Athlon 64 3200+
512MB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 64MB
XP Pro SP2

Mine starts out okay, but stutters terribly on wonder videos, and occasionally drops to the desktop after a wonder video. Turning off the sound doesn't seem to stop the video from stuttering. Sometimes when leaders pop in to say hello, the game decides to take a hike. I've also found that when these games fail, the autosaves can't be reloaded without crashing the game -- although I've never had the same problem with manual saves. So far I haven't been able to complete any of the games I've started... sort of disappointing.

Gateway m505
Intel Pentium Mobile, 1.4 Ghz
512 Mb Ram
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 64 Mb
XP Pro SP
Realtek AC'97 Audio

All drivers are the latest and greatest available...

Works ok - had black terrain until i upgraded video drivers. Only issue I have is that gold and hammers don't display on my city squares or when i click resource finder. Can mouseover tiles to see what they are which works but is annoying. AMD 64 3200, Nvidia 4 64Mb, 512 Ram.

-It is slow to load the game
-Loading a saved game from within a game in progress hangs 1/3 of the time
-I just upgraded my laptop from 512mb (integrated) to 1.5gb by adding a single 1gb memory unit to the unoccupied memory slot and now the Title Screen does not display any menu items and the intro movie is just a blue screen with sound. All other 3d games play fine with the new ram including games that utilize hardware T&L... I blame the developers at Firaxis :)
IBM Thinkpad T42P
1.8ghz centrino
7200rpm 60gb HD
512mb
ATI FireGL T2 w/128mb

Although after upgrading the ram to 1.5gb so I could play the game more easily, it now fails to be playable due to graphics issues as described above!
How annoying!

P4 3.2Ghz with nVidia Geforce Go Fx5600 and it runs fine apart from lagging a little and skipping sounds in movies.

I have a pretty good machine: Inspiron 6000, Pent. M 2GHZ, 1gig RAM, 128mb ATI x300 and it ran for two days, then it crashed and have me the ati error. Once i updated the driver i have not had any problems.

<!-- First post :D -->

Toshiba Satellite 5105-S501
1.7 G Pentium4-M Processor
512 MB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce4 440 GO (32 MB) Graphics Card

Completed two games thus far. Only graphics problems are choppy wonder scenes (haven't crashed on any yet), two-bread only on tile-yeild overlay, floodplain riverbanks visible through Fog of War, and while scrolling over the world's "wrap" point partial visability through the Fog of War.

Runs quite well on a Dell Inspiron 5160 with a Geforce FX Go5200 graphics card. It does get a little laggy in the late game, or if it's been running for a few hours. Wonder movies and sound play flawlessly.

Runs pretty well on my Inspiron 9100 with 1GB and P4 2.8C and ATI Mobility 9700 64MB. Rebooted when I got to Modern Era, but I don't think that was hardware related.
