Can't build wonders - help!

Just curious if anyone has any idea why the game is not letting me build wonders in Pharsalos and Athens, but will let me do so in Sparta, Delphi, Knossos, Thermoplyae, etc...

They come up grey on the Athenian build screen.

As usual my performance is somewhat embarrassing, but it's been a rare treat to be alone on an island (I play with random geography) and I'm a little pissed since this seems to be the first problem of its sort I've ever encountered.

I downloaded the game. I don't know. Maybe though .. with this reply .. it will keep it on top a bit longer and you'll get an answer.

Anyways, I think the problem is that you CANNOT hurry the production of a wonder in any way; the production bonuses you get from clearing forests and disbanding units will not affect wonder production, and you cannot spend population or money to hurry wonders. More relevant to your problem is the fact that if you use any of these methods to hurry production, then you will not be allowed to change production to a wonder; this is probably the problem you're seeing. Presumably if you have those cities finish building something, it would allow you to start the wonder from scratch (unless you're already building it somewhere else).

I could be wrong, though; this is just the only reason that comes to my mind for why you might selectively be unable to build certain wonders.

Thanks random passerby for passing by. It's the best theory I've heard so far, since both cities were near vast forests that I chopped the hell out of. But then, I'd thought I'd finished the chopping turns ago.

Well, some Wonders can only be built in certain cities like the Lighthouse (which must be by the sea) etc.

Sorry, can't DL the game now, so.....

But if you can see them on the build-screen but in grey, means you can build them but something is stopping you.... Other than that, I can't think of anything else. :confused:

Maybe you are already building them, but in another city?

probably you hurried production in that city by chopping down forest close to i9t

Aside from that I had a game where i could build FP in a city, could build Pyramids, but NOT Oracle (which wasn`t built yet and not under construction wither). So, there seems to be a bug in this....

Thats what I thought it would be. If you have already started the wonder in another city it will appear greyed out in other cities production box. This would enable you to see if you can build it quicker than in its present build site. If so you have to stop building it in the other city and switch to the new one.

Í have another prob with wonders (this is problably stupid as hell but I downloaded the game so I don't have the manual) : Sometimes when I'n building a great wonder like Great Library I get the message that city can't work on that wonder anymore so it has to switch to a smaller thing like colloseum or even a unit!! Why is that????
