Capto Iugulum: Empires and Nations

Once again I apologize, the holidays have really played hell with my schedule, and I'll be out of town for the next week, unable to access the forums. So we'll be pushing back the update to after Christmas. I'd just like to restate that this isn't the longest haitus yet, and that following the holidays, we should be able to return to an update a week.

Well, I hope that these Christmas are good for you, mate. Enough to make the pushing back worthy :).

EDIT:
To: The World Entire
From: Empire of Holy Spain

This is the list of nations that have accepted to sign the Pact of Toledo (OOC: Hey, if the idea was mine, I think I can have the choice of where it is going to happen, don't I), for the continued safety of their representatives to other nations and for the development of better diplomatic relations around the whole world, in order of acceptance.

Empire of Holy Spain
Kingdoms of Paris-Burgundy
United States of America
Republic of the Netherlands
Kingdom of Poland
Roman Empire
Empire of Brazil
Kingdom of Normandy
Empire of Portugal
United States of New Spain
Kingdom of Austria
Kingdom of Bavaria
Kingdom of Brittany
Kingdom of Dauphine
Danish Empire
Kingdom of Flanders
Kingdom of Hanover
Kingdom of Languedoc
Kingdom of Naples
Papal States
Kingdom of Poitou
Kingdom of Provence
Kingdom of Sardinia
Kingdom of Serbia
Switzerland
Kingdom of Tuscany

We encourage you to sign this pact, for it will certainly mean better relationships between all of us.

We also wish to know whether you support the Roman Empire's petition of voiding diplomatic immunity in cases of blatant spying.

The Roman Empire would sign in all cases except blatant spying cases. We will act accordingly.

OOC: Yes, but our point is that they could then still take what they have potentially. Otherwise we are okay with all the other restrictions. Keep in mind we just finished a civil war paranoia is high.

The Empire of Portugal signs.

To: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland
From: The Empire of Portugal

Our proposal is that you would keep what you have so far, and we could get rights to the rest.

I understand, the Holidays are more important after all. :p

How does agreeing to your proposal benefit us? It seems insultingly one-sided.

We did not and do not have a proposal; it was you that approached us with the intent of forming an agreement on an issue that we did not know exists.

If you are intent on continuing to waste our time like this please let us know so that I may direct my secretary to dispose of all further communique on your part.

Alright, forget it ever happened. We apparently do not see with the same view as you do and apologize.

Very good. Should any unfortunate incidents arise between our respective colonists, we shall settle it on a case-by-case basis.

OOC: Welp, I'm back, but I missed the deadline for the next set of orders. Curses!

To: Empire of Holy Spain
From: United States of New Spain
We are ready and willing to accept the terms of the agreement regarding ambassadors and diplomats. The arrest and detainment of an emissary is barbaric, and such actions must be frowned upon.

To: Panama
From: United States of New Spain
Once again, we demand that you listen to the will of your people and hold a plebescite regarding unification with New Spain. I hope the blockade by the other free nations of the Americas and an invasion of your lands by your old masters will sway your minds. This suffering can be ended quickly.

To: New Grenada
From: United States of New Spain
Your intentions in Panama can only be seen as a violent attempt at a land grab. At no point has anyone in Panama even suggested that they would welcome your return. That said, we are willing to offer you a deal in order to safeguard stability in the region - a war against you is in noones interests, let alone your own. If you agree to assist us in the war against Panama, we are willing to offer reunification with New Grenada as an option in the plebescite, provided you swear to accept the results of the plebescite whatever they may be. We hope that the blockade of your ports by the other freedom-loving nations of the Americas will sway your mind in favour of this fair proposal.

You can still send orders, as the update has been delayed.

I have just returned from vacation and will be going through all diplomacy and OOC questions now. Stayed tuned for further developments.

Update Statius: The official update deadline has been altered for the final time. January 5 is the new deadline for the orders, to allow the ending of the holiday season and school to start up for me. The update will arrive on schedule as I ease back into moderating this NES.

The Following NPCs are interested in signing the treaty proposed by the Empire of Holy Spain: Austria, Bavaria, Brittany, Dauphine, Denmark, Flanders, Hanover, Languedoc, Naples, Papal States, Poitou, Provence, Sardinia, Serbia, Switzerland, Tuscany

@Double A: Sorry, forgot about your troops in the update. In other words, those damn racist frogs didn't want to include your valiant Poles in the glory :p .

To: The Northern League
From: Hanover

Though we are greatful we did not have to fight to achieve our freedom, we are more than capable to do so if the need arises. We are still prepared to defend ourselves if a new war erupts, but our entry into the Northern League was contingent upon Denmark and the Netherlands' membership as well. We have no interest in remaining in the League if it does not include those two powers.

To: Poland
From: Denmark

We are men of honor and have signed a treaty with the Republic of the Netherlands regarding New Guinea. Our decision to withdraw from the Northern League is final, though we hope to at least retain some amicable relations with all involved, within and without the League.

To: Brandenburg
From: Hanover

We have made great strides towards rebuilding a relationship over the past few years, and we hope that withdrawing from the League does not plunge both of our nations into a war. We have no doubt that you will regret a path of violence if that is what you choose for us all. If need be, we are willing to continue the economic policies and statuses put in place from the League between our two nations, including lowered tariffs and taxes upon commerce.

To: Hungary
From: Tuscany

We have no interest in allowing free reign of foreign troops for an indefinite period in our lands. We are willing to sign a defensive pact, but otherwise, we have no interest in Hungarian troops upon our soil.

To: Those Concerned in the Panama Crisis
From: The Republic of New Granada

We have only sought to establish our own such claims into any possible plebiscite which takes place in Panama. We have rightful claims over Panama, and only the actions of a vocal minority and foreign sabotage led to the withdrawal of our leadership. We are more than willing to stand down should Panama agree to a vote, with reunification on the ballot.

To: Those Concerned in the Panama Crisis
From: Panama

In wake of recent events, we will agree to a plebiscite only if the navies and armies of those destroying the peace in the region withdrawal from their positions. We will agree to a vote that includes all options proposed by New Spain to this date.

To Hanover
From Paris and Burgundy

Anyone would have thought you did not understand what a Treaty was. You have signed one. It legalises your state on the condition that you are a member of the Northern League. Your membership of the League does not depend on whether you still feel like it: it is compulsory. If you repudiate the Treaty that gives you your legal independence, as you seem to be doing, you necessarily cease to be a legally independent state. If you behave like oath-breakers and traitorous criminals, we will have to treat you as such, whereas if you behave like reasonable men who maintain the treaties that they have signed, we can accommodate you.

To: Paris and Burgundy
From: Hanover

We were committed to the Northern League as it was, not as it shall always be. While the treaty we signed did call for our admittance to the league, it never stipulated that we should not be allowed to withdraw if our interests no longer coincided.

To: Those nations that have not signed the Pact of Toledo
From: Empire of Holy Spain

Those nations that have yet to state their position in regards to the Pact of Toledo, we would like to know their opinions about it.

From Europe: Azerbaijan, Brandenburg, Georgia, Hungary, Kiev, Kingdom of Savoy-Milan, Moscowy, Novgorod, Swedish Empire, United Kingdom of Great Britain
From America: Argentina, Aztec Empire, Chile, Ecuador, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Republic of New Granada, Uruguay, Venezuela
From Africa: All
From Asia: All
