Capto Iugulum

What? Are you insinuating that Brazil is-a not the free, slaveless society that it has been for generations?

Apart from the fact that Brazil kept slaves for quite some time, it is obvious that you did not read the sentence correctly. Please, apply your knowledge of reading to my previous message, and when you FINALLY get the real meaning, get back to me.

EDIT: @JoanK: Indeed.

Unitedstatesians, always so self-centered.

Besides, you cannot escape from America to Brazil, it would be like escaping Africa and ending in Kongo.

You are, without a doubt, saying Brazil is worse, imperialistic, etc.

Kongo, a Scandinavian state in CI that is racist and imperialistic. One that forces natives into near slavery.

America, almost universally agreed as a reference to the United States in this statement, as you were discussing escaping from the United States to Brazil. Don't be a damned idiot, Milarqui.

For love's sake...

Will you please STOP thinking that I am trying to compare Kongo and Brazil and instead focus on the friggin' JOKE?

How do you try to escape from America and end up in Brazil, when...

BRAZIL IS IN AMERICA!!!

Now, please, learn to read, or otherwise learn geography. Remember, United States of America=/=America.

Well, when the discussion is about the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, often times called AMERICA for short, and BRAZIL on the issues of escaping for slavery reasons. And then, like some kind of super smart European trying to make a joke you come in and compared BRAZIL to the KONGO. And even more still, you attempt to cover up your own failings by saying you meant THE AMERICAS and not AMERICA! I'm starting to think you have no idea what you're talking about. :p

BRAZIL IS IN SOUTH AMERICA, PART OF THE AMERICAS. NOTE: IT IS NOT CALLED AMERICA. IT IS NOT A SINGULAR CONTINENT. WE DO NOT CALL AFRICA, ASIA, DO WE?

1: Here in Spain, we say America to refer to the ENTIRE CONTINENT. We are not as self-centered as you inhabitants of the United States of America.
2: The only reason I said Kongo was because it was the first nation that came to my head.
3: I'm having a facepalm at your surprising idiocy re: the fact that I was trying to point out the oxymoron in your previous statements. Please, note that, unlike you, JoanK ACTUALLY understood the joke. Though, I shouldn't be surprised, considering that you come from a place where a good bunch of people think Spain is south of the border...

Is there a photo of an Eightfold Facepalm?

1. Two continents. Unless you want to consider Eurasia and Africa as a single continent. Spain is clearly wrong.

2. Your joke was understood by me, but I corrected it as a fallacy on both counts. Don't hide behind your own misunderstandings.

3. That is insulting to USA #1. I'd have thought that Spanish people would have learned not to insult America after that last ordeal. :p

Not to distract from this wonderful discussion on the semantics of continent names, but I made a thing.

Does Kongo have a flag yet? If not, hows this?

Needs touching up, but the potential is there.

1. We say America to refer to everything, and the two continents are North and South America.
2. This clearly lies on your misunderstanding of the fact that my comment was no comparaison between Kongo and Brazil.
3. I'm not insulting America. In fact, I am saying something that is quite true. At least I didn't comment on the fact that a lot of Unitedstatesers don't know where the USA is on a map... Also, the Spanish-American War only happened because the Maine exploded in an accident and the yellow press (specially W. R. Hearst) stoked up the coals.

We are already at Hexadecatuple Facepalm...

1. Yes, because THE AMERICAS, when divided, can be singular with their appropriate names of NORTH AND SOUTH.

2. You were comparing the two. Your original statement made absolutely no attempt distinguish from comparing the United States to Africa and Brazil to the Kongo, that is how comparisons work. :p You later attempted to fix that, but it is too late. My feelings are hurt.

3. I know that. I am glad it happened. USA #1

The Background thread has been updated with all maps and backgrounds. Be aware, I will no longer acknowledge conversations on that topic here, but rather on the new thread. Similarly, may I suggest that any conversations/discussion/information on pre-1920 background and history be moved there: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=477173

On a related note, we have only a few more tweaks to be made, and I think I can safely say that the new full thread to cover 1920 - 1939 will be up within a couple of hours.

1. Once more, when we say AMERICA, we do not mean UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, we mean NORTH AMERICA+SOUTH AMERICA.

2. You are the one that said my comparaison was related to slavery, not me. I was pointing out the oxymoron of running from America to end up in Brazil. Also, if you actually believe what you are saying, I have this nice bridge in Brooklyn that I'd love to sell you...

3. You are glad that a lot of Unitedstatesers don't know where their own country is? Interesting to know.

Why you used the old flag and not the new one?

Anyway, in the next update I will post in my order an official change of Flag.

Well, Unitedstatesians, or USers, do have quite a reputation of being geographical illiterates down here... It'd be a shame for them not to live up to expectations, wouldn't it?

@christos200: I should have said this a while ago: If you want to play as Greece, join a NES that actually has a nation called "Greece." The reason I used the old flag was because upon further review of the old updates and facts using a flag which revolves around Greek symbology and ideology directly flies in the face of everything done by the government prior to you taking over. Read the background and that reflects the current position of the way things are. I have allowed the army names and whatnot because for intents and purposes, you are still a majority Greek army with small Turkish minority. So, to follow up the above statements, let me summarize:

The Pontic Republic is NOT Greece, nor would it ever be despite everything you might do. The Pontic Republic is its own nation with its own identity, though admittedly a young one. While you could focus on the Greek cultures and ideals of forming nation known as Pontus with heavy Greek influence, and possibly succeed, this does not mean that Pontus has become Greece. It will instead be a nation with its own identity and own culture, but with heavy Greek influence. Please understand that.

And now the new thread is up, but be warned, stats are not quite yet complete, as I still am working on manpower. I have determined that all other stats are final however, so orders can be conducted at your leisure, with the new deadline as next Tuesday.

1. Spanish people are incorrect on basis of being European. End of discussion.

2. You joined a conversation specifically about that. You are the one out of context.

3. I said that about the propaganda behind the Spanish-American War.

We are Americans. America is the shorthand name of the United States of America. The Americas is the proper name for the two continents that make up the western hemisphere of our planet.
