Carthage codex question

I would not count on building Nalanda as Carthage... playing on Immortal + AI mod, I find it a difficult wonder to get, and it will be even harder with Carthage's hampered culture gen

all this discussion begs the question: what's the point of finishing science legacy path for Carthage? the GA bonus ends up being a single academy, which is not worth much compared to civs that can score 3-4.

the same issue extends to the culture GA and (to a maximal extent) the economic GA, which Carthage is best suited to claim but receives no benefit from.

anyway when I play Carthage my plan is probably to get level 2/3 for all 4 legacies. more where possible, but I like military 2 more than the military GA anyway

(FWIW playing Catherine is a much more reliable way than Nalanda to complete science legacy, plus she helps compensate Carthage's weak science/culture generation)

Yeah, it actually seems pretty plausible for them to get the slots, the challenge is getting the science! Carthage really struggles to get science yields with only one library and academy. There's ways around it but I think you have to make a plan for how you'll approach science or culture as Carthage right from the game setup screen.

The Econ GA might not be great for them but it's fun.

I found specialists were absolutely the way to go, even if they ate up a lot of my happiness.

In antiquity you could put only one specialist per quarter, so with library only, that's 1 specialist for the whole empire. Once you get mathematics you could have another one in academy, but I my deity game as Carthage I haven't reach mathematics at all.

Hi All;

Hopefully someone can help me. Codex get stored on the libraries in cities.

Being Carthage cannot have more than one city, the capital. How will I get more Codex slots?

I tried looking for an option to build a library in my towns but no luck.

Am I missing something? I only have 3 slots in capital for them atm. Halfway through antiquity age
You're supposed to convert towns to trade post specialization this will give you 2 codex slots

Confused by what you mean, each specialist will give +2 science and culture by default so you can still get lots of science from specialists on other tiles?

Carthage gets a +1 specialist limit event. Their events are pretty good actually...

if you don’t complete econ legacy with Carthage, I don’t know what you’re doing (if you take the GA bonus, I also don’t know what you’re doing)

+2 science is not a lot, it’s going to be pretty hard to counteract Carthage science deficit (and probably less effective than playing to their strengths)

Using specialists is playing to Carthage's strengths though, it should be noted. That's what all the towns are for—not too hard to fill up most of your capital in Antiquity, even with Angkor Wat. Remember that quarters adjacent to your Palace grant a +1 Science/Culture adjacency bonus, meaning that specialists in the city centre and in a well-placed Library/Academy quarter are providing more than just +2. Then there's the science attribute tree bonus, if you go for that, for another +2.
