Cats and Kittens

Have they climbed those screens yet?
A mere one week later, a Mouse is already most of the way up one screen. Did I mention that Easy and Mouse have already tunneled through the other screen? :satan: I'll probably replace these screen doors with something like I have on the front and back doors: a metal panel on the bottom and on the top, a fiber screen protected by a metal grating.

Once they get older and heavier, they will stop such antics. You should then be able to revert back to simple screens.

Why cats love catnip

Catnip (Nepeta cataria) and a similar plant, silver vine (Actinidia polygama), seem to activate cats’ opioid systems much like heroin does in people. Rubbing themselves in iridoids — chemical compounds that protect against aphids, which both plants contain — also seems to protect cats from mosquitos. Researchers tested the chemicals by tempting domestic and feral cats and captive leopards, lynxes and jaguars with the iridoid nepetalactol.

“This study essentially has revealed a new potential mosquito repellent” by examining the “pharmaceutical knowledge” of cats, says Emory University biologist Jacobus de Roode, who did not participate in the study.

So cats have their own version of opium? Who knew :crazyeye:

For two days, Mouse didn't eat and could barely stay awake. The local vet gave him an antibiotic, but he lacked the ability to give Mouse a blood test, so today we took Mouse into Tag. The vet there found that he was anemic and had a blood infection. After being worked on for quite awhile, he returned to the car, awake and HUNGRY . We hadn't thought to bring cat food, so we went to McDonalds and got him chicken and rice, which he liked a lot. :yeah: We're home now, and he's doing mech better. :wavey:

Is there anywhere you can get cat milk? I mean the commercial kind, like Whiskas. Cats love it (actually, Maddy's so into it that she helped herself one time, biting into the box and leaving a trail of slimy brown cat milk all over the carpet).

Wait a second, how come that cat isin't on your avatar?

Yesterday Mouse woke up frisky :run: by noon, his fever was back and he was vomiting :vomit:by evening, he was fine.

My driver has to go to Tag today on other business; he will stop in at the vet and ask his opinion. We already have a Tuesday appointment for rabies shots for Mouse and Easy. :health:

Other day wifes workmate looked outside the window.

Her cat was being chased by a bird. NZ birds tough!!!

Cats yowling outside.
Idk if any of ours are involved but really only one option there. They'll sort it out.
