Caveman 2 Cosmos

Just played my first game and I wonder if this is a bug.....

I received three tribes in goody huts within 30 turns of the start, so by the time any of my rivals could build a second city, I was up to over a dozen and about 300 turns ahead of everyone. Now, I've killed everyone on both continents by 1150 (on snail), have four cities past Ledendary, but the victory screen still tells me it's still too early to predict any victory conditions!

Is there any way to finish, or do I just keep hanging in for a couple of centuries?

Perhaps an alein invasion is in the offing?

You probably have "mastery Victory" selected. that means that you have to achieve all win conditions including the time one. Goody huts only give tribes on the easiest settings.

Now this brings up a problem, downloading:

Which does everyone prefer to use uTorrent or MegaUpload, or Atomic Gamer?

utorrent - any size can be uploaded there.

MegaUpload - only up to 1 GB

Atomic Gamer - up to 2 GB

If i add in the Leaderheads, its OVER 1 GB? so what say everyone:confused:

Please no utorrent or other torrents. MegaUpload or Atomic Gamer is fine. I just don't like using torrents due to viruses, bots and of course seeding.

Keep giving your comments about how you want to download this great mod, but also, i just thought about, which color would you prefer as an interface:

Fire Engine RED

Normal BLUE

Forest GREEN

Darker RED

Dark PURPLE

Semi GOLD

SILVER

BLACK

Blue. Its easiest on the eyes and seems to match things the best (which is probably why it is default).

Making the interface an option would be wicked cool ;)
And, imo, mastery should end when conquest is achieved. What's the point of the game after that?

AFAIK, mastery victory overrides all other victory conditions, whether those are selected or not. It doesn't mean that you have to solve all of them. But it usually takes some time for mastery victory to give any predictions. Even if the game is theoretically decided this early.

Blue, Green and Silver are all ok. But as long as you cannot change it, I would definitely go with blue.

Uhm, yea, hey, I would like to make a suggestion if possible. >.>
Technocracy, the civic. It kinda seems a tad... Useless. A Technocracy seems like it should be focused on Technology and Production, but it's more on gold in this one... Just a sugestion, feel free to discard it.
Spoiler :
Technocracy:
:science: +15 or 20% Reason: It's a technocracy, a society dominated by research and technology. I think it should provide more research than a Bureaucracy...
:hammers: + 5 or 10% Reason: While maybe not the main focus, a Technocracy is also lead by engineers. Should have a smaller boost towards their area.
:commerce: - 5% Reason: It's a society lead by scientists and the like, not politicians. Subsidies of technology would likely be very generous, increasing government spending greatly
Ability to spend gold to finish production Reason: A Technocracy is a form a social engineering, the government would have to spend money and such to further this.
National Instability + Reason: As said before, it's rule by Scientists and the like, not politicians. Likely, they would be less educated in Politics which might lead to a slight mismanagement of the political areas
:c5happy: + 1 from Laboratories, Universities, Cloning Factory Reason: Such a society is dominated by technology, so likely places of learning and science would be valued. (See next for cloning one)
:c5happy: + 2 from Cloning Laboratories The cloning laboratory boost is to counteract the unhappiness caused by it, as likely most of the squeamishness caused by human cloning would be far less frequent in such a Technologically dominated society.

I hope this isn't completely ignored, and workable. :? Sorry for wasting your time if it's not.

I love the myth of the bear, tiger etc. You can build with subdued animals after you have researched oral tradition and built native language.

Can we get a bonus of some sort if you manage to build all the myths.
Say +1 culture or something that is permanent?

Same for carnival?

My computer has been highly uncooperative when I try to add the updates into the main mod folder, Can I PLEASE
A. Get highly detailed instructions for a computer idiot to use
or
B. Get a single download (from atomic gamer maybe) of everything, leader heads, updates, every new version so I don't have to figure out where all the files go?

To launch your spaceship?

That becomes an obvious innevitability by that point, as does every other victory condition you haven't yet met. This is because no-one is there to compete with your supremacy. It's GOING to happen. Since we know this and it can be done 'whenever'... why even bother to play when competition is off the board? Its like continuing to play monopoly after you've eliminated the other players just to see how much money you can ammass by getting around go enough times.

At first glance, I like the proposition on technocracy.

Some people may want to play on and launch the spaceship to increase their end score. Especially if the game is close to being over anyways it's maybe not much of a hassle to just play on for this goal.

I posted this on the ROM 2 thread a couple of days back, and haven't received any response. Now I've FINALLY downloaded this mod, unzipped it, and copy-pasted the unzipped folder to Beyond the Sword/mods (couldn't unzip directly due to my computer refusing to accept that an administrator, ie me, had given me permission to access the folder). I've found I've got the same problem with this, so I'm copying my posts over here.

Beware, civ 4 noob ahead!

I can't seem to load this mod. I start civ 4 BTS, click 'advanced', 'load mod', and select rise of mankind. I press OK, and the game exits. So far so good, and then it shows the loading screen (the one with 'loading' in about 6 languages), but then it...stops. After a bit, the screen resets from the 'basic' colour screen it switches to to play civ 4.

I have a windows 7, if that's any help, and other* mods seem to load correctly.

*I mean the mods that come with the game, BTW, and I have civ 4 complete.

Then I got a response, and I responded again.

Loading in 6 languages? Try English.

No, I load and play the game in English, but when I load the game or a mod it shows (for me, at least, with civ 4 complete, and I presume everyone else), a screen saying 'loading', underneath it some Chinese (or some language like that), then underneath that 'Laden', etc. Then it disappears, and the game continues to load. Only in this case, it doesn't.

With win7 make sure the UAC is disabled or you are using Administrator as your log on.
Sorry, I have no idea what that means!

When you unzipped the mod check to see if a 2nd Rise of mankind folder is inside of the 1st. If there is copy/pastye the 2nd one to the BtS/Mods folder. This is a common occurrence.

JosEPh

No, all the folders inside zip are in the main Rise of Mankind folder, and they are: assets, autolog, docs, docs from combined mods, privatemaps, usersettings. No second Rise of Mankind folder.

Sorry to double post! I've tried setting the mod to open automatically when I start the game, but still get the same effect as when loading it after starting the game.

I don't have Windows 7 so I can't tell you exactly what has to be done but it involves "right clicking" on the folder Caveman2Cosmos in the windows file manager and setting the properties of the folder to something like "not read only". This is because the mods change some of the files and need to write to the folder but by default Win 7 has them marked as read only.

Interesting idea, but I don't know how to do it. I can't even make a building that requires all of them because there is a limit of 5 in the XML.

Most of the updates recently have been for modders only, based on a set of stuff which has not yet been released. However I think we are almost ready for a new beta release. I don't want the leader heads in because I would have to spend to much time removing them before my machine could play the game, but I do agree that the way they are now does make it difficult to install them.

If you're on Windows 7 you may want to disable permissions entirely. Its the only way I was able to get around problems it created.

I can disable the permissions? How??

Ok, trying that. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I can't remember. It was mentioned on the forums here somewhere though... I'm looking for some other lost elements in the forums right now so if I find mention of it again I'll post the link here.
