Caveman 2 Cosmos

@Nocchi

If it makes you feel any better most of the buildings have no graphics whatsoever and are just stats with a button. IF we had added models for every building the game would be SOOOOO slow and break. In short these little loop holes of more stuff without adding more graphics has allowed us to get pretty far. Which means there is not much to strip away graphics wise anymore without actually taking features out.

Personally if this game was 2D isometric with no animations I would still play it. But that's like Civ2 or 3 and were stuck with actual 3D meshes and stuff to work with.

I've officially given up on C2C unfortunately, it's a great mod and if I ever get a real computer I'll definitely be playing it alot.

Nocchi... I presume you are playing on an xp right? Try the 3gb switch (pg 84 on this thread at the bottom.) Things a miracle for slower comps.

They discuss a switch for Vista on that thread as well but it only works if you have a 32 rather than 64 bit system. Then again, Vista sucks up processing like no other platform... it left very little for anything but itself - the main improvement represented by Win7.

Well due to me knowing literally nothing about computers what OS should I replace vista with, and also, once again, due to computer ********-ness, will switching OS delete anything on my hard drives?

No offense, but if you have a 32 bit PC, just dont bother. Its not worth the extra pain. Best to wait and get a 64 bit higher end PC when you can, with Win 7 and get an icore7 nothing below that. Even if it takes a few years, its worth it.:)

I'm running Vista.

I still run Windows XP with 32 bits. :p

Yet I am still chugging along. Someday I will upgrade. :old:

This is very true. My speed improved a lot when I applied that back with RoM/AND.

I naively built a Great Farmer, thinking I'd be able to plant wheat or corn (I have no grains, nor does anyone else I am in contact with), or create a cow or pig or sheep resource (again nobody I know has any of them), but it only lets me create extras of ones I already have (deer, potatoes, horse, olives). Is this working as intended?

You need to have access to a resource by either having it or trading it for the Great Farmer to work. So yes it is working as intended. there was going to be a spy mission to steal access to plant and animal resources that you don't have access to but that has not happened.

I'm going to be 100% honest, all I want is the cultural diversity and added options of new buildings, and religions. I want vanilla BTS in every single way EXCEPT gameplay, do you or anyone know of any mods like this? Modding is far too labor intensive for me and due to the fact that most mods in ANY game pretty much say "LOLNOPE" to people on low end PC's or laptops it's pretty damn hard to find.

VIP and K-Mod should fill your bill Nocchi. These Mods are designed for low end computers. I play both of them and they are well done.

Vincentz VIP's originator is still using a 128MB vid card for his Mod. He was also a constant contributor to RoM and AND. Jungle Camps, Guilds, Warlords are just some of the ideas and modmods he introduced.

Karadoc the maker of the K-Mod is all about AI improvement on BtS vanilla. With only a few non AI features. He is constantly refining the AI's functions and decison making as well as finding and fixing original CIV IV and BtS bugs.

JosEPh :)

Thanks for the reccommendation, VIP is what I was looking for minus a few minute things, I appreciate it Joseph.

One use of the Great Farmer to plant the necessary resource to obtain a unique national culture exactly where it's most beneficial.

This is especially helpful if you have a city that has lots of buildings that give military buffs. Look at Cherokee Rifleman coming out of your military city instead of Musketman. One well placed Deer will make the difference, if you have (or conquered) the base American culture. You can also use it to build the culture that accelerates certain wonders production.

Bingo, you hit it on the nail head.:)

It is a shame that when they created the C2C sub-forum that they got rid of the thread in modpacks. Both AND and ROM still have active threads there, as well as most of the other projects in subforums. If you are looking for new players, that looks like the best way!

Hi, when I try to load "C2C", it doesn't work. I load "beyond the sword", go to load a mod, but when I try to load C2C it goes to desktop and nothing happens.
The program shows in the task manager, but dissapears after a while.
I run it on windows 7.
Can anyone help?

edit: I just noticed that right when the program dissapears from the task manager, the screen very briefly flashes black. Really stumped...
