Caveman 2 Cosmos

v26p1

perfectworld2f

first time playing on immortal, so far just terrible luck. my continent has 3 other civs but absolutely no way to contact anyone else to do any real tech trading... we have a long way of teching to do to be able to enter ocean tiles and go find people. it's scary, I'm all alone now(RIP HRE, Korea, France) and I keep getting updates about world wonders being built from techs that I can't research yet. we're 5th on the tech list at the moment, so it's going to be a rough road.

I hear ya there( i do that alot on Planet Generator mapscript), try that with YOU being the only civ on a continent once, you think everything is running fine, then you find out your 20-30 techs behind, when you can finally find someone, that a true test, but (a little boring), but its worth it in the long run, getting your butt kicked, and not even feeling it:blush:

That's kinda what happened to the Native Americans isn't it?

yeah it really is.

oddly enough, now that we've been alone a few thousand years, we're now the tech leader. I don't know what those other 4 civs above us are up to, but they certainly aren't tech trading. It's nice to be able to build some wonders, but I would've thought for sure on immortal difficulty that we wouldn't be able to survive technologically on our own like this. we still have not met anyone beyond our continent.

Silly noob question but how do I install this and the patch? I gave it a go but when I loaded up the mod it just said Civ4 is not responding and then closes, I can only assume I've done it wrong since this is my first time using a mod.

Thanks.

In the mods folder did you make a New Folder then change the name to Caveman2Cosmos, then put your un-ziped C2C files (inside only) of that into the Caveman2Cosmos folder?

Be sure it is the SMC4\BTS\Mods folder, and not the Documents\My games\BTS\Mods folder as well.

Is there any way to stop the game from focusing on my wondering units that are attacking/being attacked? In later games it gets kind of annoying when I have land and sea units hunting animals or exploring and every five minutes my focus is taken away from what I'm doing to see my ranger attack a pigeon.

When we're on the subject of the natie American civ can we please delete or rename them
There are hundreds of Native American tribes that can be used to make civs. I have an encyclopedia with over 200 tribes described.

That's why I don't want an native American tribe. I would rather have it name the siox tribe or some thing like that. Especially since we have other native American tribes

cannot settle a city on marshland, so I went to the civipedia thing and it says marsh cannot be settled unless it's on the coast or a river- well this is a coast tile, still cannot settle. does it have something to do with required technology or type of settler?

The coast is a lie. It needs to be by a river.

well, there is a difference between salt and fresh water. try and see if a fresh water lake-side marsh tile can be settled. if so, you have your answer.

I thought the logic behind that tag was not the fresh water (you're in a marsh), but the access, you could either have movement along a river or onto a sea or ocean.

I was just making a guess. rivers provide fresh water bonus. coast doesn't. the game might be trying a fresh check was what i thought might be happening. also, marshes might have fresh water in the sense its not salt water (not true for all marshes granted...) BUT IT IS VERY FAR AWAY FROM DRINKABLE.
EDIT: I just tested this and My theory is correct. You require fresh water access to found a city on marsh. so lake and river-side marshes can be settled in but coast side cant, as they don't provide fresh water access. Note, i tested this in v26.
