Caveman 2 Cosmos

Can anyone tell me why do I have a choice of civics from the first turn? Even if civilopedia states some of them require technologies from another era? I've downloaded the mod again 3 times.

Are you making sure to start in the prehistoric era?

Hello, I have a problem playing the Caveman2Cosmos mod. It appears that I have a large textbox on my screen saying stuff about "failed writing INI file". Can somebody please help me on this? I tried previous methods such as going into the Config File and logging out/logging in but I still cant get rid of the text box.

You need to "Run as Administrator."

I'm sorry I went full-, I never should go full-... I guess it's caveman for me, the cosmos will have to wait until I get smarter.

The Cosmos part is still under construction too.;)

hey guys what do I put down for the shortcut in the target location box so I can play it through it instead of having to do it the old way?

Create a shortcut to your 'Beyond the Sword.exe' and include the parameter -mod="Caveman2Cosmos". Mine has the following as its target:

Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" -mod="Caveman2Cosmos"

So am I. You go to the desktop and create a shortcut there. I do not know if it's possible to have a (metro) start screen tab for Civ I'm afraid (I always go directly to the desktop on boot anyway)

Alternately you can create a new profile and new c2c.ini file to call. That way it won't mess up the settings if you want to play vanilla or another mod that has different/fewer startup options.
Full instrutions are in either the Player How To thread or the C2C FAQ thread, I don't remember which (but I think its the How To).

nevermind got it to work ^^
Cool, glad to see you got it working man! You were in wrong era for sure, I had that happen to me like 2 years ago when I began playing this great wonderful Mod. Prehistoric Era will not give you any choices for Civics they come much later.

Have fun, the AI is super smart so make careful choices and check out the tips and trick section and read up on everything you don't quite understand. It is the best Mod and strategy game I ever played in my life.

I love the Planet_Generator_68 map creation script via custom game section. You can create land masses for each civ if you want using that script, just pick enough continents from the options for every civ including you, or switch it up any way you want.

Click on BUG options upper left corner right away, preset things in the game you want early. Easier that way bud! :D

Above all have fun and good luck man! :goodjob:

This is a great idea and find instructions in tips and tricks. However if you own the steam version is never seems to save the field of view settings.

In SVN Ver 5170 is wheat and barley along with potatoes and others suppose to look like Pete Moss? Just thought Id mention. It seems to be happening on random generated maps. A couple of the earth maps I load in world builder are fine but the when I get a generated one or load some of my previous world builder saves I have this issue as of late.

Greetings once more!

I have a question (or rather a performance issue). I've played build 30 twice and noticed that pointing the mouse on a stack of workers (or performing group orders) - anything, that causes the tooltip about the workers to appear - involves dramatic lagging. I already have graphical settings lowered - perhaps, there is a certain way to turn off those tooltips?

How are things going?

Suggestion: It'd be cool if you could mark/tag certain tiles to 'not' be touched by workers. I for instance usually don't build cottages, and only build them in 1 or 2 or my cities (that are going for research/gold). So if I undo cottages in the automation tab, have replace old improvements ON, but tag these cottages to not be touched, that'd be handy. Same applies to city ruins obv.

Hi! How are you doing? I have got a small question here - one friend of mine told he remembered enjoying the old 1999' Call To Power Civ because of tactical battles. I googled a bit and found that the only intent since then was to make this tactical battle mod:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=441280

The question is, as I consider Caveman 2 Cosmos a wonderful "all-in-one" mod, do you have plans to include or possibly write/rewrite some workaround to implement tactical battles in C2C? I understand that it means loads of work and a deep remake of game mechanics... But anyway... Do you consider the tactical battles possible for future versions of C2C? Thanks! ;)

That looks pretty awesome. Would love to see that integrated although it would probably make the game last much much longer
