Caveman 2 Cosmos

Thanks again. I think I have undermined the importance of a computer's video card in the past. I will try to find something better than the 660. But I can't go as high as the 7970 due to its price (about $450!).

I went for a 2G version of a 7790 (which is quite a low-medium end card but with lots of graphic memory, and highly power efficient). It is no problem at all for Civ at 1900X1200 - you really don't need that high end of a card for Civ. Mine cost like $160. Rest of the system is:

4470 (not K, because the K lacks some instruction extensions which I suspect might become important in future). Only get the K if you plan to overclock
32G 1600 RAM
960G SSD
FT02 case (this thing ROCKS - I'm SO glad I spent big on the case - its utterly silent)
550W platinum efficiency PSU

Wow, that SSD must have been a lot. I'm curious, though. With that setup, how long does an "end turn" take if there's about 50 or more cities on a huge map, for instance?

Just finnished my game (won assimilation on hugh Earth map v24), I am usualy a version or 2 behind but will probably get 31, I am still wondering when a multi map may be available?

Koshling, please, v.31 keeps being very unstable, even with your new dll. What shall I do? Why the ver.30 was so stable, and this one, unexpectedly, is not?... Some new logic? Actually it loads faster then v.30...

I may have missed a chunk of text but I didn't find information on how to update to the current version... I installed it and tried to unzip it with WinRAR and it didn't zip there. So I unzipped it in to my central folder and copied and pasted to a new Mods folder and the original Caveman2Cosmos...

I'm not sure if it worked or not as I can't find any information on what the update actually does. If it didn't change anything then it's no luck and I really need a definite solution as the game takes 10 minutes to load minimum (take note of the word minimum as it usually goes over to 20 minutes and on one occasion 30) which is really annoying :(

We don't usually do updates. You need to remove, or rename, the old before installing the new.

The first time you load it will take a long time. This is so that it wont take as long the next time you load.

Uh, I noticed that the Great Prophets don't let you build the special religion buildings anymore. Is this like ordinances and judges again?

Assuming you mean t V31 from some earlier version, then as DH said, you need to remove the old first.

If you mean applying the patch from the patch thread over V31 you just need to replace the DLL in caveman2cosmos/assets

Yes, unexpected (at least with the patch). Please post a minidump if it's crashing, ideally with a save game and instructions on how to reproduce it if it's reproducible (if it's not reproducible, at least reliably the minidump will suffice for now). See header page of the bugs thread for instructions on where to find the minidump.

Oh, I thought I was meant to replace the files O.o Oops xD'

EDIT: I was just playing around with world builder but I can't seem to find the option to choose which religions a city has and if it can be a holy city, has this option been taken out? If so that's really upsetting :(

Hello C2C community!

First of all BIG thanks for the C2C team for creating and maintaining this fantastic mod.

Recently installed version 31 and it seems that butchery +1 food bonuses for pig, deer, poultry and sheep are not counted. On the city screen my butcheries provide only 1 food in all of my cities, but when choose them from the what to build list the actual value is calculated well. (Of course I have access for the needed resoureces needed for food bonus).

Can you guys check you have the same issue?

Regards,
PS: Keep up the good work! :)

@Koshling- i know you recently pushed some AI changes so i was just wondering what you would make of this encounter. I had a Level 5 Tracker sitting in a Forested hex next to a Barbarian stack of 40 units but they didn't attack. Is this behaviour what you'd expect even after your changes ?

I am on the latest SVN.

BTW- I love the way this mod is constantly evolving. Great work guys.

Cheers

Depends what they were doing./ I would expect a stack of that size to be on its way towards some target city to attack it, and continuing with that would have a higher priority than a random attack on a passer-by. However, if they were just sitting there (not moving anywhere) then it's very odd. I have fixed one bug in that area since V31 was released, so it also may depend on whether you're playing V31 with the latest patch DLL or as it was originally uploaded (which is it?).

If you have a save I could take a look and see (please post it with instruction on where to look if you do).

I am thinking that probably the instability of v.31 might be happening to me because of my weak hardware. I would like to ask all the players of v.31 whether you experience CTDs in v.31 often or not. Could you comment on this issue please? So that I might prove or discard the memory overflow (or close) issue...

Koshling, do you have any idea why might that happen, when v.30 used to be very stable, when the v.31 keeps falling to CTD with no apparent reason? I still cannot reproduce any exact CTD situation, it is just random =(

Yes its v31, it got released with a faulty dll, sorry everyone, i cant UPLOAD because i made a mistake in ModDb and cant and ls613 hasn't PM'ed me back in 1 week yet??

Its there on the patch thread. I'm keeping that up to date as the DLL gets fixes as long as it remains compatible with V31 assets, and doesn't have other risky changes in it.

The patch SHOULD resolve the random crashes. If it doesn't then I need minidumps please (see bug thread for where to find them)

Why is Info Net always only available to about 2 or 3 cities? Every single time it happens. I've gotten it to show on build for all cities. I noticed that sometimes the buildings aren't available even when you meet the requirements. Most of the time they come back after a turn or changing to "Name" etc. This one though always does it.
