Caveman 2 Cosmos

I've tried the 3.19, it says a .exe file which needs to be installed to a specific folder. The folder I don't have since I basically dragged my CIV4 Beyond the sword files to my new computer. Since I cannot install 3.19, I can't use C2C.

Which means I must try to find a proper place for it. I cannot re-install so that's out of the solution. I cannot play without the 3.19 patch. I LOVE THE MODS REVIEWS AND SUCH, I JUST WANT THE CURRENT VERSION WITH MORE BUILDINGS AND STUFF. I'm a huge fan of advanced and complicated video games that doesn't only require building, destroying or using plain strategies. I'm someone who likes to get into the deep stuff like this mod.

Did you put them "both" in the correct spot? ie see attached?

You need ALL of the Firaxis files. pic 1

If you don't have the registry entries from actually installing the game, then you may be up the proverbial creek. Civ IV is pretty cheap these days, if for some reason you don't have a legitimate copy.

That is true i think you can buy it for in some areas for about $5

Still a bit funny that the Sami culture exist(small culture in the north of Sweden, Norway and Finland) but not the Swedish culture.
(Especially after the election we had in sweden a few day ago when a party got 13% mostly becausethey whant to protect the swedish culture.. party.)

Well we do have the Vikings if that covers any of Sweden.

But yeah, I will have to add them in the future. Not sure how they got past up since we have Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and even Icelandic.

Sorry about that.

On a side note Sami culture seemed so interesting, which is why its even in there.

I'm not a c++ programmer by trade, but there are some issues in the dll I'd like to trace down and fix. Are there instructions anywhere on how I can compile the project on my own to do some testing?

I tried opening up the files with visual studio 2013, but kept getting some errors along the way.

Plus i dont know what visual studio they are using for C2C???

Oh trust me, I don't want to waste $5 on an extra copy of a video game I still own. And yes I have done the correct steps in order to "improvise" the game's folder. I did put the C2C in the mods folder in the (x86) and documents. But I like the :c// one better. IF you can, either provide me a picture of the contents inside Firaxis and the BeyondTheSword file. If you don't feel like it, I can use a manual installation of 3.19. I don't want to "install" an exe file that requires uninstall D:

Well, if the copy that you own is not legitimate, so to speak, that might be your issue. Broadly speaking though, it is generally a good idea not to install games to Program Files. I have mine in various dedicated games directories.

Several things that might be amiss:

The 3.19 patch checks the registry if Civ4 is installed, if that is true there is probably now way around the check. 3.19 patch is only available as .exe The patch might simply check the 3.17 exe for right size/hash. If you used a No-CD exe the patch might just refuse to work. Further, 3.19 patch should be 165MB in size. I can provide a md5 checksum if the size is ok but there might still be a download problem.

If Civ4 is only patched to 3.13 or lower I'm not entirely sure the 3.19 will work. Could be wrong on this one though.

Make sure you start the patch as administrator if Civ4 is installed to Program Files.

Why is that? Ever since I went to a 64bit OS back in 2009 (XP Pro 1st now Win 7 Pro) I've used Program Files (x86) and not had a problem. What would I gain from moving it to a different Directory?

Mainly because the UAC tries very hard to protect you against yourself, not allowing you to make changes to the files therein or even hiding them from you entirely. W7 is probably better with this than Vista though.

Thanks for those, I am able to compile the C2C source and start a new game, however my saved games give an error, "Save format is not compatible (CvInitCore::m_aszLeaderName)".

Are there C2C specific compile instructions I should follow? Also maybe there's a shortcut, but the end-goal I'm looking at is making some dll level changes and testing them on my own.
